  • ✅ Hi!
    Today I suggest you watch a video tutorial on how to install Windows 10 or 11 on any external USB drive, I will use a USB flash drive with a capacity of about 250 GB.
    After the end of the process, you can connect this USB flash drive to any computer, and Windows 10 or 11 will work from this USB flash drive, even if the computer does not have a working C drive, and you need to restore it, remove viruses from the operating system, or transfer important data from a locked computer, if you forgot your Windows password.

      Yes, the data transfer speed with a SATA cable is much higher than USB.
      But there are some tasks for which Windows on an external drive is a salvation for the computer.

    Can you move/copy windows from the usb onto the computer itself? I am only doing this because my computer has no os :( or do i have to always have the usb connection

    • @ipMalik
      @ipMalik  2 месяца назад

      If I understand you correctly, your computer does not have an OS, but you have Windows installed on an external USB drive.
      To install Windows on your computer’s hard drive, most likely the only and simple solution to this problem is to do the following, but for this you need another USB flash drive:
      You need to boot your computer from your USB drive with Windows, then create a bootable Windows 10 or 11 USB flash drive and install a new Windows 10 or on your computer:
      ruclips.net/video/SB-u10x5lFg/видео.html
      You can transfer, that is, clone Windows from a hard drive to an external USB drive using a special application:
      ruclips.net/video/5rXgAesqrx4/видео.html
      It is possible that it is also possible to clone Windows from an external USB drive to a computer, but I have not done this and cannot answer for sure.
      Here are two options for you - choose the one that suits you.

  • @ipMalik

    There are many reasons for this problem and it is simply impossible to give you an exact answer in the comments...
    As users' computers and laptops become more and more diverse in disk partition tables (GPT and MBR), HDD operating modes (AHCI and IDE) and boot types (EFI and Legacy), errors when installing Windows 10 are also becoming more frequent, caused by these parameters. Your case is just one of those mistakes.
    Moreover, you did not write what edition of Windows you have on your computer, what size is the external drive, and so on.
    I think that you need to look for a solution to the problem on the Internet, where you can find it with a detailed description of the solution to the problem, with tables, screenshots, and so on.

      @ipMalik  Месяц назад

      Installing Windows on an external drive depends on several factors.
      On HDD it installs slower than on SSD, on SSD m2 it installs faster, and the installation speed also depends on the computer's power.
      The installation will take less than an hour or more than an hour approximately.

      Selecting USB drive instead of ISO will create a source USB from which you would install to internal drive, this option will not allow you to install from this USB to another USB. Instead, using ISO+Rufus, rufus installs a special "windows to go" version that is already directly installed on the USB.

    Thank you for the step by step instructions. Everything went well until I had some confusion with the reboot step. My computer did reboot after pressing the F11 key on my computer but I did not get the "PLEASE SELECT BOOT DEVICE" option. I am now confused as what to look for and what to do at this point. If you have the time to give me a more detailed instruction I would greatly appreciate it.

      I'm sorry, but different device manufacturers have different BIOSes and there is no single standard in the world.
      To find out how to open the Boot Menu, you need to write this question in RUclips Search or in Browser Search the following phrase:
      "How to open the Boot Menu on a laptop (and here you write the name, for example Lenovo V15 Gen 3), if you have a desktop computer, then write the name of the Motherboard
      This way you will know how to open the Boot Menu.

      Thank you again. I was successful in completing the setup with your help. Please forgive me, I am not tech savvy. One other question. When I go to "MY PC" I would like to be able to choose between booting up either my internal drive or my external drive. I don't see or cannot access both drives the way it is set up now. The way it is now, I have to restart and press the F9 key each time to access the reboot menu to switch between the 2 drives. Is that the only way, or have I done something incorrectly during setup? The reason I want this is my hard drive is full on my laptop, so I just purchased a 2 TB external SSD drive for extra space. I was hoping after setting up the new drive I would be able to drag and drop items from one drive to the other. Is this just wishful thinking? Any way thank you for your knowledge and time. I can live with it the way it is if no other option is available. All the best to you.@@ipMalik

      @@addison436 Yes, the only option to boot Windows from one of your two disks is to restart the laptop and call the Boot Menu.
      When you boot Windows from your laptop and open This Computer, this window should display all the drives connected to the laptop and you can freely and easily open these drives and drag and drop files as you need.
      Open This PC, then open the external drive, here you will see the Windows folder, Program Files, User and other folders.
      Open the User folder and there you will find files located on the external drive.
      The system may display a message that access to these folders is denied, but ignore this and continue opening the following folders - this message will no longer appear.
      And one more thing - you said that you bought an external drive only to store files, since there was little space on the laptop, but I don’t understand why you installed Windows on the external drive..
      You could use an external drive as storage, that is, as a USB flash drive and for this you do not need to install Windows on the external drive.
      If this is the case, now you can simply format the external drive and use it as a USB flash drive.
