This lady (Rita Martinson) just vanished, I have searched the internet and found nothing, you would have thought "This is a star in the making", a voice so compelling. Thanks for the video its been a long time since I first heard the song, some thirty years, but will never forget... Many thanks..
I just watched the movie Sir No Sir and about to watch FTA today on Netflix. I advise anyone remembering anything with the Vietnam war to watch this. Eye opening TRUTH just like the way things are going since 2020. Rita’s song is beautifully done, the soldiers were in awe of her singing this for them
This is extremely important- I just saw a Martin Luther King on meet the Press with 5 parts and barely 500 views. But a 4 second video about a skateboard trick with like 3million views and 25,000 comments. That says alot!!
Inspiring TODAY (2019)! People check out the documentary SIR, NO SIR! that included this song: it's the story of DISSENTING SOLDIERS MOVEMENT during Vietnam War! Speak out! Stand Up! Fight Back!
Bless your heart for this, chiledoug. I just saw FTA at an IFC Center event, and this sweet angel was haunting me. I'm so grateful, you have no idea. (taking joy where I can) PEACE 2 U
What a great voice and song but false message as she says “Uncle Sams war was a racial and genocidal war” killing our blacks. According to American War Library the enlisted were: 28,044 (83.5%) were White and 5,095 (14.1%) were Black. Not even close to being racial. Looks like Rita didn’t do her research.Just Google it: type in war casualties in Vietnam. Leave race out Rita doesn’t apply here. Stick to singing you have a great voice. It just didn’t sound right so I looked it up.
I think you need to listen more closely to what she says. She is referring to what the SOLDIER said: "He thought it was a racial and genocidal war." No mention of it "killing our blacks". The soldier was talking about the racial genocide happening against the Vietnamese.
@RM-ho4qz no during her speech she said the Vietnam War was a black genocide. I actually own the video and I've seen the movie four times. Her speech has many many racial overtones when 85% of the people that died were white
@@RM-ho4qz just the fact that 83.5% of the people that died were white should end any discussion of race whatsoever unless you call it white genocide. Race should not be in this topic whatsoever. She is a bigot.

I love this song, Rita Martinson's has all the qualities of Karen Carpenter. What a beautiful voice.
I haven't been able to find her, either, although I did hear that she had moved to France years ago. Haven't been able to substatniate that.
I cry and I cry hearing Rita’s magnificent tune, so touching and true, tender and eternally new.

Actually she was talking about the Vietnamese. She did her homework. Sorry if you misunderstood. rm
