I love how the Retro Tech folks feel like an actual community- like celebrities were there but it was just like a local swap meet with some good buddies.

Maybe one of these days they'll get a 3B5, 3B15 or 3B20 UNIX mainframe. They were used almost exclusively by AT&T.

Closest thing I saw was a 3B2 at the VCF East Swap Meet last year (2023). Sold for stupid cash, sub $1k I believe, but was complete. AT&T stuff is hard to come by since most of it was used internally.

@@MichaelAStanhope They did offer them for sale but most of them were sold to telcos- probably because they were way too expensive. They used them both as business systems and for controlling #4 and #5 ESS switches. And I was talking about the System Source Museum specifically.

4:49 I have one of those with the same CPU among my piles of stuff, although not with all the nice stickers, and even thought it's apparently from the free pile, watching Sean bothering to picki it up makes me give it a little bit of value. In any case I adore sweap meet videos, I drool over so much of the stuff I see, not just the rare and coveted kind!

Always nice to have you out in my neck of the woods even if you wouldn't come up and see my personal collection! 🤣
I feel bad that I got sick but it was still worth the trip, even if I took most of it home with me and picked up a few strays!

4:11 Retro Tech Chis!!! The hero, the man, the legend... What a cool swap meet. Still working hard to build a community like this closer to my neck of the woods in central Alabama. Loved VCF SE though!

I got to do the tour at this museum a few weeks ago. Took my dad who was familiar with the older 60's and 70's stuff. There was a special event Amateur Radio station setup there operating July 19-21 but I'm thinking maybe this swap meet was a different weekend?

Great video, pity we do not have these kind of things here in the Netherlands anymore that I know of. In the eighties and nighties we used to have these when there was stil a vibrant hobby computer club. I would sure have picked up some things.
