I don’t believe that they were as a whole made better than modern guitars, but these are the survivors, the ones that have been loved. Natural selection, if you like. Nice programme, thanks.
Crackin vid sir, nice to see the music inns still there :) not been over that neck o woods in a while (last time were hotrox for a ton of the lovely wiring parts we need in our geetars). It'd be a short vid as we only really have 2 shops left but you should come Derby for a peruse of Hippo and Faulds (Hippos shut sun n mon though) 2 good geetar shops that hold some good stock (Hippo in particular as its mostly 2nd hand stuff so the stock changes on the regular) :) Never knew about notts city geetars, they look well nice :)
Great playing as usual. Very cool that you are showcasing other shops in your area....the JHS approach. A rising tide floats all boats. Disappointed that I saw no jazz hands when you found the old ES's.
Cool vid and great playing. Everyone should have an electric hollow body haha. They should come with a warning too as if you really dig it, it can be pretty tough going back to your trusty strat or something lol
Some nice guitars and great playing. I'd recommend Hot Rox in Nottingham. They don't sell a lot of vintage stuff but the brands they stock are a bit more left field than the usual Fender and Gibson stuff. Also Xperience guitars just outside of Nottingham. More of a repair shop but they do stock a few interesting second hand guitars.
Bought my Hawk 12 string acoustic new from the Music Inn in 1968. (Was it called Papworths then? Can’t be certain). I still have it, but it’s not played much now, unfortunately. And much later, my Vintage long scale electric/acoustic bass also bought there.
I’m surprised Andy didn’t roll out the secret stash which is his prized guitar A Koll which is utterly amazing. If you do a return visit try one of the NCG moneymakers I have the first prototype version of it despite its invocation hybrid construction it sounds like a top shelf 335.
@@johngreen6118 ahh nice man! Yea I’m sure we’ll be back soon to check out the new stock once he’s got some more vintage guitars in. His NCGs are awesome
I always GAS for a Novo when I see one, and it was refreshing to hear your comments on it because I would also expect them to be unbelievable based on the hype and reputation.

You could easily have spent more time at Music Inn - their stock is incredible and they're there for the working musician, rather than the collector.
Big up notts
What an awesome video and such rare vintage Gibsons. The first one you played is what Marc Ribot used with Tom Waits
Derby!!! Hippo guitars and Foulds guitars!

Awesome man! I’m unsure about the name, but they definitely had a lot of different stuff. Great store. Thanks for watching.

What was that first piece you played on the Gretsch? I’d love to learn it. Great playing man!

Holy throwback 🔥🔥🔥
@@danielryan2825 😂 cheers for checking it out man!
How many guitar shops are there in nottingham these days? About 3?
Foulds in Derby was great last time i was there. And the other shop up the hill.
Nice one! Derby is next on the list for sure
Doesn’t it make a massive difference, a place facilitating ‘try before you buy’?
The Gibson ES 140 - sweet
Bring some music man
