i know right... the unfinished episodes had potential to the story and character development and Disney destroyed everything. So upset about it... Although i dont 'hate' Rebels but Clone wars in my opinion was far better.

I love Asoka’s outfit here. I prefer it far more than the mechanic's jumpsuit she ends up in. Also, the chemestry and banter was far more natural when the costar was still the guy. Gender-swapping him into a girl was quite unnecessary, but that aside, why did the dialog also have to change? The new dialog isn’t horrible, but it is definitely inferior. (By ”chemistry,” I mean character interaction, not romantic tension.)

I read the book, I am glad it wasn’t made into episodes lol. Which is sad because the story has potential and Ventress deserves a good conclusion to her story. But come on, the jedi now send their own to murder the count?? They were losing their way but this is just stupid. It would have been better if only Quinlan lost his way and followed asajj into killing dooku. Not that shit like oh no he’s fallen to the dark side… or not… yes he is.. or maybe not. In short: the story had potential, was not well thought out, and Christie Golden isn’t good enough a writer to fix such things unfortunately.

You are out of your mind if you think rebels is a good show. They are in season 3 and there aren't even a dozen episodes that are worth watching. there a only a handful of episodes that are good and the thing they all have in common is that they're either dealing with vader, or someone from TCW or the movies. And the reason why is because nearly all the rebels characters suck. ESPECIALLY Ezra, why he hasn't been killed yet is beyond me.

So, here's the full story based on the Ahsoka Novel, and interviews and such. Anakin and Obiwan meet Ahsoka again ( as we see in the brand new trailer #CloneWarsSaved ) and they go to help with the siege of mandalore. Anakin and Obiwan are sent to rescue the chancellor, and Ahsoka is on her own, with 501st troopers now with new markings with her white tattoos on them (I don't know if they are tattoos or birthmarks... sorry. Ahsoka fights and captures Maul with the help of her Clone Legion. When Order 66 was initiated, all the Clones turned on Ahsoka. Rex, who removed his inhibitor chip, helped Ahsoka escape and they both faked their own deaths. Maul escaped because Ahsoka decided to save Rex, and Ahsoka went into hiding, believing Anakin and Obiwan were both dead (as written in the Ahsoka novel), not knowing of Anakins tragic turn to the dark side until Season 2 of SWR. Then, you know the story of Rebels from there. Hope that got everything cleared up 😂😂 I noticed confusion in these comments and replies...

They also have a talk on Ahsoka's decision about leaving, where Anakin gets angry on the council showing his gradual turn. Even the action seemed quite good. Why was it not so bad of a loss?

The Bad Batch arc was cool. The annoying girls? I wish they had not taken so many episodes. They're the perfect examples of boring filler episides in this series that never had to exist. Mind you, there were some good parts of that arc such as when they tell Ahsoka how cold (presumably) Luminara had treated them after the Jedi killed their parents accidentally. But the characters had significantly annoying and boring character traits and those episodes took way too long to get to the point.
Cad Bane with eyes is really creepy, wonder why he had pupils in that one shot. Had to change to .5x Speed to understand that last section, but damn. Wish even more that these had gotten finished.
The pupils are there so that the animators know where he is looking as it's hard to tell are the eyes facing the right way if they are pitch red. They then remove the pupil texture by either just erasing it completely or putting another model on top of it with a shader on it.

Seasons 6 and 7 were going to be the normal double amount but had to be shortened and a full Season 8 was also in development. Fortunately, the main and most important arcs to the plot seem to be included here. While it's a shame about the many others, four more episodes were released as unfinished story reels, eight were adapted as a novel, four as a comic book series, and the rest had their basic plots more or less revealed. The latter of all these seemed to be more filler than everything we'll see in this Revival but I'm sure they would have turned out amazing. In the end, the beautiful animation now possible for these last 12 episodes is a real decent trade for the 5-10 episode arcs that did not make the cut.

Anakin and obi wan were meant to join them but they were called by yoda to save the chancellor which is why ahsoka and Rex aren't in episode 3

It's nice to see now both the finished seventh season characters and how they were planned before. Like how Ahsoka was planned to be in Episode VI. How Trace was originally a boy. How Ventress and Vos met. It's sad they cancelled it before finishing everything.

Would’ve been interesting if the Smuggler was actually the father of Trace and Rafa, and it was the mother who died in Ziro The Hutts escape. Would’ve created an interesting dynamic of a Father trying to do what’s best for his family, but falling into Debt which is where we see him now when he meets Ahsoka, he’d still be the way we see him now, but in more personal scenes we’d see just how depressing his life is without his Wife by his side, all because of the Jedi.
If they ever do end up finishing these, I hope they make a story arc on how Rex removes his inhibitor chip. There could be other clones with him like Wolfe, Gregor, Jesse, kix, wolffe, the bad batch, and other clones but when he tried to tell the republic, chancellor palpatine ( as darth sidious) orders commander fox to execute an order that is used to kill all the desserter clones like Rex and the other clones. He is forced to follow the order without questions so he tells the coroscaunt guards the order chancellor palpating gave him and they chase after the clones with who removed their inhibitor chips. So they end up leaving with a fight. Rex and Cody have a hand to hand, shootout battle and the clones also have to fight off fox and the coroscaunt guards and maybe even one or two Jedi. Some of the clones end up dying but the group takes our most of the guards. The clones end up escaping and taking a ship. This would all take place while anakin and obi wan are going to rescue the chancellor from count dooku right before the beginning of revenge of the sith. This was just an idea that I had and wanted to write down
Comparing the animatic of the fight in this video to the final fulling animated fight in the newly released episode, I think this older animatic is superior. Like the raw choreography is all the exact same, but the dialogue and character interactions are so much better in the older version. In this version, Ahsoka actually reacts to the guy trying to fight the goons. In the finalized versions, she is aimlessly watching and it just feels liked of unnatural. And in this old versions, Ahsoka is actually negotiating. She wants something from the mechanic and only helps when that is guaranteed. It's not as altruistic as the Ahsoka in the final versions, but it gives the old versions a much more natural flow, character interaction. Because of this, I am such more engaged in the older version, I don't know what will happen next and want to find out. The new versions feels stiff by comparison and doesn't flow. Ahsoka just stands there until she is asked for help. The action also feels more snappy in the older version and this adds to the weight of each blow. The other version is not nearly as snappy and poses are held for much longer. Finally, the newer version includes a shot of Trace looking in awe at Ahsoka while during her excel fighting segment. This last segment is animated very well but that shot interrupts the fighting choreography! It interrupts the flow of what what used to be a continuous fighting shot in the older version! Sorry to go one like this, it's just that we are presented with a rare opportunity to compare two identical scenes are how they are handled under different management (Lucas vs Disney). When watching the new episodes, I noticed things sort of felt off compared to older Clone Wars. I think this little examination reveals what's missing: minor details like characterization, natural flow of scenes, and subtle editing. The devil really is in the details, good animation will feel so much better if animators can nail the tone and actions of actual humans via animation. That's why Pixar animation from 20 years ago still feels so good even though the technology was ancient, because they cared about the details. The new version of the Clone Wars misses these details and, even with finished animation, feels kind of artificial and inferior to this older version.
You know I wish they kept in the dark disciple arc, I read the book and it was really good, it would’ve been a nice tie in for Ventress since she just disappeared without a trace, the only way to find out where she went was with the book

Anakin and Obiwan are sent to rescue the chancellor, and Ahsoka is on her own, with 501st troopers now with new markings with her white tattoos on them (I don't know if they are tattoos or birthmarks... sorry. Ahsoka fights and captures Maul with the help of her Clone Legion. When Order 66 was initiated, all the Clones turned on Ahsoka. Rex, who removed his inhibitor chip, helped Ahsoka escape and they both faked their own deaths. Maul escaped because Ahsoka decided to save Rex, and Ahsoka went into hiding, believing Anakin and Obiwan were both dead (as written in the Ahsoka novel), not knowing of Anakins tragic turn to the dark side until Season 2 of SWR. Then, you know the story of Rebels from there. Hope that got everything cleared up 😂😂 I noticed confusion in these comments and replies...

In all seriousness though, I like this season generally. The Bad Batch arc was cool. The annoying girls? I wish they had not taken so many episodes. They're the perfect examples of boring filler episides in this series that never had to exist.
Mind you, there were some good parts of that arc such as when they tell Ahsoka how cold (presumably) Luminara had treated them after the Jedi killed their parents accidentally. But the characters had significantly annoying and boring character traits and those episodes took way too long to get to the point.

Cad Bane with eyes is really creepy, wonder why he had pupils in that one shot.
Had to change to .5x Speed to understand that last section, but damn. Wish even more that these had gotten finished.
The pupils are there so that the animators know where he is looking as it's hard to tell are the eyes facing the right way if they are pitch red. They then remove the pupil texture by either just erasing it completely or putting another model on top of it with a shader on it.

Seasons 6 and 7 were going to be the normal double amount but had to be shortened and a full Season 8 was also in development. Fortunately, the main and most important arcs to the plot seem to be included here. While it's a shame about the many others, four more episodes were released as unfinished story reels, eight were adapted as a novel, four as a comic book series, and the rest had their basic plots more or less revealed. The latter of all these seemed to be more filler than everything we'll see in this Revival but I'm sure they would have turned out amazing. In the end, the beautiful animation now possible for these last 12 episodes is a real decent trade for the 5-10 episode arcs that did not make the cut.

zaandarbrow yes this was meant to be part of a story arc called the siege of mandalore where ahsoka Rex and bo katana would bring an end to dearth maul's rule. Anakin and obi wan were meant to join them but they were called by yoda to save the chancellor which is why ahsoka and Rex aren't in episode 3

Would’ve been interesting if the Smuggler was actually the father of Trace and Rafa, and it was the mother who died in Ziro The Hutts escape.
Would’ve created an interesting dynamic of a Father trying to do what’s best for his family, but falling into Debt which is where we see him now when he meets Ahsoka, he’d still be the way we see him now, but in more personal scenes we’d see just how depressing his life is without his Wife by his side, all because of the Jedi.

If they ever do end up finishing these, I hope they make a story arc on how Rex removes his inhibitor chip. There could be other clones with him like Wolfe, Gregor, Jesse, kix, wolffe, the bad batch, and other clones but when he tried to tell the republic, chancellor palpatine ( as darth sidious) orders commander fox to execute an order that is used to kill all the desserter clones like Rex and the other clones. He is forced to follow the order without questions so he tells the coroscaunt guards the order chancellor palpating gave him and they chase after the clones with who removed their inhibitor chips. So they end up leaving with a fight. Rex and Cody have a hand to hand, shootout battle and the clones also have to fight off fox and the coroscaunt guards and maybe even one or two Jedi. Some of the clones end up dying but the group takes our most of the guards. The clones end up escaping and taking a ship. This would all take place while anakin and obi wan are going to rescue the chancellor from count dooku right before the beginning of revenge of the sith.
This was just an idea that I had and wanted to write down
Comparing the animatic of the fight in this video to the final fulling animated fight in the newly released episode, I think this older animatic is superior. Like the raw choreography is all the exact same, but the dialogue and character interactions are so much better in the older version.
In this version, Ahsoka actually reacts to the guy trying to fight the goons. In the finalized versions, she is aimlessly watching and it just feels liked of unnatural. And in this old versions, Ahsoka is actually negotiating. She wants something from the mechanic and only helps when that is guaranteed. It's not as altruistic as the Ahsoka in the final versions, but it gives the old versions a much more natural flow, character interaction. Because of this, I am such more engaged in the older version, I don't know what will happen next and want to find out. The new versions feels stiff by comparison and doesn't flow. Ahsoka just stands there until she is asked for help.
The action also feels more snappy in the older version and this adds to the weight of each blow. The other version is not nearly as snappy and poses are held for much longer. Finally, the newer version includes a shot of Trace looking in awe at Ahsoka while during her excel fighting segment. This last segment is animated very well but that shot interrupts the fighting choreography! It interrupts the flow of what what used to be a continuous fighting shot in the older version!
Sorry to go one like this, it's just that we are presented with a rare opportunity to compare two identical scenes are how they are handled under different management (Lucas vs Disney). When watching the new episodes, I noticed things sort of felt off compared to older Clone Wars. I think this little examination reveals what's missing: minor details like characterization, natural flow of scenes, and subtle editing.
The devil really is in the details, good animation will feel so much better if animators can nail the tone and actions of actual humans via animation. That's why Pixar animation from 20 years ago still feels so good even though the technology was ancient, because they cared about the details. The new version of the Clone Wars misses these details and, even with finished animation, feels kind of artificial and inferior to this older version.
