- Our photos usually take in too much information. As artists we need to find the area that will bring the viewer into the painting and create a focus for the viewer. Too much information and it becomes a challenge to create a good composition.

This is great Phil, what about a scene like a row of urban houses on a side street, in which there is not a lot of depth? It is difficult to simplify such a scene because houses have windows, doors, chimneys etc. when your Center of interest is really capturing the houses. I find this difficult.
Thanks Mike, Sometimes a subject is too busy to paint. I have a lot of good photos that just don't make good paintings. But could be worth a try. Send me an image of the scene.
