2024 here Have been chtthis oack out and this far and away the best review of this pack Ive seen. You've pointed out about five or six details no one else has pointed out. You got yourself a sub, just a super deep review and under 20 mins? Unreal.
This is my current EDC pack and I totally love it! I can see where people that want a whole bunch of little organizational spots might not like it that much, but for me, it's just right!
Yessssssssirrr I agree with you on this pack! I love Mystery Ranch’s military line of gear, I used to have the “Sweet Pea” in coyote, which is one of their first and original 3DAP packs, but has the daisy chain system vs the molle which I don’t mind. I like the aesthetics and legendary tri-zip for ease of access to your stuff. You also cant beat the comfort and thought that went into their Futura yoke system which is a game changer as it works well with their insert system for internal organization. Great review George and love that you talked about both the pros and cons of the pack. Thanks for a thorough review GD!
Picked one of these up during REI's sale. I never thought I'd love that trizip design like I do. Excellent bag for EDC, Hiking, and Traveling. It really is a Jack of All Trades pack. Love it
Another excellent review. These pack makers should be lining up to get their packs in your hands. Your reviews provide more detailed information about their products than even their own websites do. I always appreciate ya'. Thanks!
My edc right now is the LL Bean Maine Warden daypack 27liter. Been using for over a year and a half and I really like it. BUT after this video I’m really considering this pack now. Thank you.
Actually, you can use the spade (the plastic piece you took out) to separate the velcro and help with your yoke sizing adjustment. Then simply put it back and you're good to go!
I just bought the MR2DAP. I’m a long time fan of MR bags and this one is no exception. It carries really well, even when loaded up. It’s my number 2 favourite after Goruck, I own multiple GR bags. My number 3 is the Vertx EDC, CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY THEIR Gamut Checkpoint. Great review, keep them coming.
hi George 👋 first: ich like your Videos and your way explaining the bags.. very cool !! in my opinian you one of the best at backpacks!! Greetings from Germany🇺🇲🇩🇪
@@WhispyWoods. Enwild is where I got it...they are sold out. They have a slightly bigger pack the Scree 32, it is $188.95 - 20% with code(MY20) and Free shipping=$151.19....I may have to get me one of them...KILLER DEAL!!
Not my style pack but I love that you review all packs from big brands to indies.Keep it up.Thanks to your goruck review just brought my first GR1 26 L.
GD, I hardly ever comment on videos, but I gotta say that your content is so thoughtful, thorough, and entertaining to watch. Seriously, your channel has become a must watch (and favorite!) of mine. Thank you very much. It's very inspiring for me, as some who also loves bags. Maybe one day I'll make a video! Thank you!
I just tried on a whole slew of different packs at my local sportsman's warehouse and this one made my top 3 and would probably lean heavy toward making this the one I'd get out of everything and the three zipper access had a big deal with making it stand out from the rest. Even just spending a few minute in the store I could tell how amazing that 3 zip system can be. Your review was excellent and very detailed thank you
you made my day my man and im buying one of the mystery ranches for sure!! im 100% tactical but live in the deep city. im also a hip hop dancer and choreographer and hairstylist but a bushcrafter outdoorsman too.!! i was just gonna buy another 5.11 rush 72 but i found this bag on backcountry gear for 149 no tax no shipping and im doin it oh yeah i need a change. its seemed at first a little too city for me but your video answered all my questions and doubts. people dont believe im an outdoorsman but always. anyways thank you for being so positive and knowledgeable and quality of video. it was great. may God keep you blessed and keep doin your thing.
Hey Jason, Thanks for your comment.. I started watching people on the train in D.C. and there was so many people with military style backpacks. I was like why am I worried about it! Be Safe
My Top 3: 1) OGIO Convoy 320 (20L) 2 Vertx Ready Pack (24L) 3) GORUCK GR1 (26L) Out of the 3, the Ready Pack is the best for organization but the Convoy wins for bottle holders and practicality.
Outstanding review! Great channel you have here. I’m a big fan of Mystery Ranch, and especially of their Tri-Zip packs. My Scree has been through the wringer and the Tri-Zip still works very well. Subscribed!
Hi George my top 3 EDC pack as of now (October 2020) are: 1) Bellroy Classic Backpack Plus (Forrest Green) - Good for work and if I need to carry my laptop and other stuff. I think this would be good for you to try as well. 2) GoRuck Bullet 15L - For a leisure day out with only minimal tech and bare essentials needed. Or when travelling. 3) North Face Recon (Women's Version). For when I need to go on turtle mode. 🤓😅 Or days I need to bring my house with me. 🤣 I am 5'1" inch gal with 16.5 inch torso length so the most I can do for my frame is around 24liters. Any bigger and people will only see a walking backpack 😁. Mystery Ranch (MR) Assault line is not really my cup of tea (aesthetically speaking) but I like your take on their Rip Ruck Series. I'm saving up to buy MR Rip Ruck 24 (Cherry 🍒 color) I enjoy 👍 your reviews and take on the bags and gear. May you review more in the future.
@@GeorgeDEFINED You should 👍 You'll be surprised at how much stuff you can load into it👜🎒. And it's a good excuse to use the pouches 👝to keep things organized inside. I suggest the 15L as you're a big guy 🤓 The Bullet 15 covers about 80% of my back.
@@GeorgeDEFINED I'm from Tulsa so safety is gonna be questionable this weekend lol... I will own this pack and the blue Urban version soon thanks to your review!
My top 3 (so far) packs for EDC... . 1. Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault Pack 2. 5.11 Rush 24 3. 3 V Velox 2 . . I also did a review on the Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault and many others..
Solid review. Thanks for going over all the little details and I like how you updated the top fav. Bags. I’ve been wanting to try this bag out but I still love my gr1 26L.
Looks like a very comfortable bag with all the options I want. If it didn’t have so much molle webbing I’d probably pick one up. Great review, thanks for being so detail oriented in your videos. 👍🏻
I have several MR backpacks, and love them. The back hump you mention is common to MR packs. I really like it. I have several packs, but find that my go to is the MR Teraframe 50L for general backpacking. I just ordered this 2 day pack for military duty.
First - great review. I own this pack, and I learned new things about it from watching your video. I agree with your comment about the MOLLE webbing, particularly on the front panels. It has no useful purpose, especially with compression straps going across the bag that would interfere with any pouches you hung on the front. I actually use the side panel webbing to clip water bottles / umbrellas in the side pockets to ensure that they can’t fall out. I have 2 other cons to this pack. I have difficulty making it stand up on its own, I always need to lean it against something or it falls over. Also, the side laptop access is pretty small. I have a 15 inch laptop and its a hassle to get to it that way. I end up just opening the top. To be fair, the access works ok for my 13 inch MacBook Pro. All that said, it has replaced a GR1 21 as my daily driver and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
Also I’d like to add the plastic frame sheet is supposed to be used to break free the Velcro while adjusting the yoke/shoulder harness. Love the channel by the way. 👌🏼👌🏼
I’d still love to see you review the REI trail 40. While a bit on the large side, I’ve used it as an edc bag for work when I have a bit more of a gear intensive carry. There’s a lot of people online who love this bag for a travel bag or crag bag, or something else. It’s gotten some updates, some good and some bad, and the price went from $99(i think) to $109 and now $129, but I still think it’s a great bag. It can be used for day hiking, backpacking, travel, and more. It seems like there’s some overlap with this 2 day assault. My brother actually got the trail 40 a couple years before joining the Air Force and then they actually provided him with a 3 day assault pack, so he has a couple great bags now.
I had this pack but to be honest I felt a bit let down for the price to quality ratio especially in the U.K. so I moved it on. My go to packs are Blackhawk, Crib Gogh and Warrior assault systems
@@GeorgeDEFINED I love it so far...only a few very minor gripes...#1 like you said, the drag handle could have been better executed, I wrapped some 550 cord around mine and that basically fixed it so no big deal...#2 the zipper pulls could have been better like the maxpedition ones you put on yours or the ones that come on an eberlestock bag, I swapped mine out already, easy fix...#3 there is a small section inside the bag (by the tube pockets, the verticle zipper splits it in 2) they could have added another peice to cover the backside of the cordura and all the MOLLE stitching, just to give it a more finished look. But these are very minor complaints...it's super comfortable, I dig it.
Fantastic review. I think mystery Ranch is the most confortable edc, maybe Tel Days Assault is pretty simmiilar than the military modelo 3DA and Komodo.
I think this pack looks dope. I love it when designers come up with looks that are totally different. The three zipper look at functionality is pretty sweet. I haven't had the opportunity to use tri-zip pack, but I'm sure I will eventually end up buying one. Seriously digging the harness system on this one. Well thought out, and the curvature concept is super intriguing. Trying to make backpacks more ergonomically correct should make it easier to carry heavier loads longer. There is definitely some "wow" factor built into this one. Thanks George!
This bag missed a lot of features their competitors have....the grab handle is sad, not padded and presents itself like a wet rag. The water bottle pockets is too lose and no retention straps. If they improve that, i'd consider purchasing that at $175 max. Great review, thank you!
Wish they would have transferred a lot of these quality features to the Prizefighter. Picked it up and wasn't impressed. Would have gladly paid more for a better quality product because I loved the design. Replaced it with an Eberlestock Switchblade after watching your vid. Very happy, thank you! Unfortunately, the 2 Day Assault was a bit too tacticool for what I was looking for.
Love the review. I have a few military buddies that use this as their EDC. I would love to see a side by side comparison (or standalone) review of this one vs a Maxpedition AGR 30L.....
I don’t know about that tri-zipper system. Looks like the main compartment is a little cumbersome to access if you don’t have a place to set your bag down on. Great review though always very detailed and informative.
Great informative video George, you made a new subscriber, I think this was linked on Mystery ranch site. I also learned about a few other products I hadn't seen like those zipper pulls and the tech pouch, love the look of both of those.
If the lumbar pad is uncomfortable on your back, that suggests to me that you've got the yoke adjusted too short - kinda looks that way in the on-body shots too - obviously it's your choice how you wear it, but you may be better running the harness a bit further up.
Have you checked out any Tom Bihn bags? The Synapse 25 is a great backpack with a ton of organization, and it is made in the USA. I carry a messenger bag EDC, but the Synapse is my go to backpack when I need one. I do want to check out the 2DAP, though. Three-zip design seems pretty logical to me.
Great review George! Make sure you go check out the Mystery Ranch / Carryology collab pack that just came out this week. It has been in development for 3 years and shows in the design features. Of course it is sold out right now lol
I just bought this 2DAP today after hours of watching its review videos and u know what? I'm dissapointed because is has no key clip in it! None of his pockets has it. Key clip is something that is also important to me for a backpack but I overlook about it. But my purchase has 7 days exchange policy so maybe I'm going to exchange it with the more expensive Mystery Ranch Blitz 30. Blitz has more external pocket, fully clamshell & has key lanyard!. Maybe u should review Mystery Ranch Blitz 30 & 35 versions.
I just got this bag . Still on the fence if I’m going to keep this or return & get the Urban Assault. I love the overall versatility of bag; but Def the hesitation for me is the Molly & straps . Like you said , for camping or hiking who cares . But these days , I’m not crazy about looking “tactical” in public .
I looked at the MR 2DAP today and I noticed that the back of the laptop sleeve is hard with absolutely no padding. Yet, none of the many reviews I have seen mention this as a negative. Laptop protection in this pack is very poor. The laptop should be surrounded by padding to prevent shock damage.
George. I just got an Eberlestock Switchblade and you come out with this? I can’t tell my wife that I found another backpack that I want just yet. Thanks for the review!
I was hating the fact that the pack didn't have external water bottle pockets (My one big gripe about the Kriega R30) but once you opened it up and showed the internal pockets all that negative feeling went away. Great backpack.
It's nice watching a review without feeling like someone's trying to sell me a new car. Thanks George!!
Agreed. I’ve been wanting to get a new pack, have been looking between this the 3 day pack and hill people gear.
Thanks again, George, we always appreciate your reviews!

Thanks for the sub! 👍🏾
If the lumbar pad is uncomfortable on your back, that suggests to me that you've got the yoke adjusted too short - kinda looks that way in the on-body shots too - obviously it's your choice how you wear it, but you may be better running the harness a bit further up.
Thanks for the suggestion Jed.. See ya ✌🏾
Such great job George, thanks!!!
Great review George! Make sure you go check out the Mystery Ranch / Carryology collab pack that just came out this week. It has been in development for 3 years and shows in the design features. Of course it is sold out right now lol
I love the design I wish that they made it a little bigger. I hope they use that same design and add a couple of liters. See ya
Great video man!!!
That adjustable back panel just blew my mind 😶
Yep I'm starting to see that more.. hope other companies that notice. See ya ✌🏾
Both are great but I like the water bottle pockets on the 2DAP better
I looked at the MR 2DAP today and I noticed that the back of the laptop sleeve is hard with absolutely no padding. Yet, none of the many reviews I have seen mention this as a negative. Laptop protection in this pack is very poor. The laptop should be surrounded by padding to prevent shock damage.
George. I just got an Eberlestock Switchblade and you come out with this? I can’t tell my wife that I found another backpack that I want just yet. Thanks for the review!
She will understand.. lol
I was hating the fact that the pack didn't have external water bottle pockets (My one big gripe about the Kriega R30) but once you opened it up and showed the internal pockets all that negative feeling went away. Great backpack.
i got the direct action dragon egg mk2!!! what a bag👍take a closer look at it.. best EDC backpack..
Very nicely done review, thanks. Great voice btw
Hey George. Did you do a review on the new Blitz 30?
