Well, it took me longer than I would have liked to get it out, but here it is. Some of my commentary is already behind the ball. Did anyone else think the Scarlett announcement was a bit of a letdown?
Picked up the ls35x a couple months ago for $128 (where as I couldn't find 9x under $200) and IMO at that price destroys everything else I do have bigger ears and these are still super comfortable for hours long sessions on weekends super recommend the ls35x oh and halo 3 all the way
Great video. All points are measured and considered well. Here in Australia the 9x are releasing for $299 AUD. The LS35x are currently on sale for $228 AUD (RRP is $249). I really wish the LS35x had bluetooth and EQ support. Those are the 2 features that will shift me over to the 9x. But I'm definitely waiting on a price drop because $299 seems overpriced to me
If the SteelSeries could use the same ear cups as the LS35X it would be the most comfortable headset ever. Especially once you stretch the aluminum headband of the 9X a tad to reduce the clamping force
Owned the 9x for about a month. Replaced the ear cups with some Brainwavz Hm5 leather cups and have never been more impressed with how comfortable it truly is. I've seriously worn them for 6 hour sessions and forgot that they're on my head. Wireless connectivity has been my only issue. As there is no USB dongle, the range is only as long as my Xbox controller. Cuts out the connection quite often because of walls or large objects such as a fridge or washing machine. Great sound quality though, and it's customizable with the Steelseries desktop engine.
That was one of my questions. You can take the ear cups off of the artics and replace them with new ones? The ear cushions don't seem to be too great on the artics 9x.
Austin Keeton I just realised that they sent me the leather cushion for free with my purchase. Do you know if you could change the speaker plates on the 9x
@@frozengamer3030 not that I know of. Leather cups I own are from Amazon. Brainwavz are about 3cm thick. I can press on the outside of the housing and compress them to my head without feeling the speaker plate.
I've got the 9x and have had zero connection issues. Though I've never had any connection issues since I don't have alot of wireless devices on my home
Manuel Padilla yeah but it gives a 7 day free trial, I bought it. The headphones cost way to much to not get out of them what you expect. And I found the sound varies for each game. Call of duty was very loud without this program. But games like PUBG needed it badly
My LS35x's have broken at the plastic swivel points in the same way as "dontemcf" posted in an earlier comment below. It is really poor quality plastic they use on these stress points and is well documented by other users ... Lucid should really address this design defect. I treat my gear with care and this should not be breaking after a few months light use.
Sorry to hear that. Mine are still holding up, but your are certainly not alone. I hope to launch a blog at some point with scores for things like durability where I can reflect user reports. Hopefully LucidSound addresses this.
Update to my earlier comment ... Lucid did honour my warranty and they were good enough to send me a new set while letting me keep the broken set. In the meantime I had bought the Arctis 9x and I think they are more comfortable, although I prefer the controls on the ear cups of the LS35x over the Arctis.
WornFender is the sound just as good with the 9X headset? I have the LS35X rn and I’m thinking about returning them because I’m scared they’ll break in a month or so. I didn’t get a warranty. Help?
Wow... This is quite a contradictory review as other reviews state the LS35x had the widest sound stage of headsets tested... Not that yours is incorrect... Just confusing to see that discrepancy
Had the Arctis 9x for about 5 hours before I realized I didn’t like them. The lows were almost non-existent. They don’t really fit, either, which has never ban an issue for me. Ended up getting the HyperX CloudX Flights. They have pretty good noise canceling, almost like a pair of Bose headphones, the mic monitoring is superb, and the highs, mids, and lows are amazing. Hearing things I never heard before in video games is different 😂
I have had nothing but good things to say about my Ls35x. I play with my volumes allot so the fact that I just rotate my ear cup for volume control is amazing to me. And honestly there very comfortable.
Im a retired FN, now Apex Legends only player. Ive been using LS35 for a few weeks now, before i was using Stealth 700s for a year. I was thinking of taking these back and trying something different but they are 127 now on Amazon so my store gave me a 40 dollar refund. For 127 this headset is a steal lol. What he said about the chat mix is a fact. It def takes way longer for you to get the right party and game sound level and once you get it you wanna try your hardest to not to ever unbalanced it again! Lucid should of given every adjustment a tick and labeled it with a dash so if you unbalance it then it would be easier to get it back how you like it. Its a frustrating process but once you get it right? Headset is amazing! As for as footstep direction, I dont use Windows surround sound, it is unnecessarily loud(IMO). I use Dolby Atmos and im the one mostly calling out enemies when i play. I have 0 problems hearing where the enemies are coming from and before my teammates even. Im the guy in Cascades telling my team mates we have to hurry up because we need to 3rd party the guys fighting in bunker or after wiping a squad and looting, telling my team a squad is pushing us because i heard the footsteps first. That should tell you not only can i hear them close i can hear them far away. If you cant do that you should get rid of the headset your using. As far as the mic picking up things in my background? Mine doesn't pick up fan noises and as far as people talking, i play alone so never had that problem. I would recommend LS35 especially for 127, add a 2 year protection plan from the store for 20 and your golden! One problem i did have though, i bought this headset on a weekend and tried to update it. The directions says hold the power button until it blinks and then plug in usb. I couldn't get it to work. Called Lucid on Monday. Guy tells me to only press the button once and plug in usb and walah it updated immediately.
Great input! I was certainly torn on this video. I like both headsets. The 9x is just a little bit better in more ways, but it's not $70ish bucks better. But there are some people out there (like me) that will throw caution to the wind and spend way more on something just because its the best, haha.
I wrote a negative review on Amazon about the ls35x. Basically the headset started turning on by itself, and it would turn on the xbox. I had to unplug the xbox as it would consistently do this until it connected. But it didn't solve the problem, it would then try to connect on it's own repeatedly until the battery was drained. Since Lucidsound doens't support Mac's yet, It took me weeks to get someone with a windows computer to help me update the firmware. After I did, it didn't stop the headset from turning on by itself. You can imagine my frustration, so I had to order a steelseries 9x. Did you notice the same problem with the ls35x?
it always cut off unless (click read more) first, sorry for the bad English. The issue is if ur wifi + smart TV + xbox are in the same place you will have a big issue of cutting off because of the 2.4G signal. ur wifi modem need to be far away and u r using cable for ur xbox + turn off wifi in ur smart TV then it will work fine. the thing is u r using many devices that use 2.4G in on place 1- wifi modem 2- smart TV 3- xbox controller 4- 9x headset 5- mobile phone 6- ur xbox (if u r using wifi instead of ethernet cable) and in my case I also have wifi NVR for security cameras that happen to use 2.4G signal also. hope this helps you cuz I been reading and searching for a while to fix this issue and there is nothing much that explain it the way I did and u need to figure it out buy urself.
How does signal strength and reliability of the direct connection compare between them? I tried the LS35X, and was plagued with dropout issues and interference with my Orbi router. According to Steelseries’ website, they implemented the Xbox wireless protocol differently than others to improve connection reliability. Did you notice any differences? Especially at range?
Thanks , nice compare🐱👤 i would buy the LS35x i had the Arctis Pro and the Headstrap is awesome!!! , but it press on my ears to much and i need one Headset that i can use with SeriesX and PC (with dongel) Greetings from Germany ✌
I really want the LS50x in the white on silver from the snoop dogg, but would prefer one without the snoop branding and voice prompts. I will probably pick up the standard version for review
I've been using the TB Elite 800x and I am impressed with the bass while keeping the highs fine too, not muddy. How do the high and lows compare from the Arctis and ls35x to the TB Elite 800x?
I lean towards Halo 2 myself. The way Bungie introduced matchmaking back then was really great and made Halo 2 the first multiplayer game I really spent a lot of time on console with.
Great review. I was stuck between the 3 main competitors in the Razer Thresher, Lucid Sound 35x, and Turtle Beach 700s. And then stumbled upon the Steel Series Artics 9x. I'm going with the Lucid Sounds even though I've heard about some cracking issues of the headband portion. I amount that to people not being careful with their belongings. I'm pretty anal about my electronics, so everything I own lasts for years with gentle use. Definitely buying a cheap stand for storage. Turtle Beach has horrible plastic build quality which I experienced 1st hand. Off topic question...Should I buy the original Xbox Elite controller at a huge discount or wait until November for the Series 2? (Open question for all, not just OP...Thanks! Edit Mar 27, 2020: So I had the LS35x headset for about 8 months and the headband plastic swivel piece cracked on the left side and showed cracking on the right side also. The headset was great until that issue began. I ended up getting a full refund and bought the SteelSeries Arctis 9x. So far I like the fit and build quality. Also the Bluetooth feature to answer phone calls and play videos or music while still hearing in game audio is priceless. The EQ settings in the engine will take some tweaking, but so far I’m liking this headset. I will miss having a mute option for audio from the LS35x. I also bought a brand new Elite Controller after buying an open box unit at Best Buy was missing original pieces. The brand new unit just started having issues with stick drift after 8 months. I had the 2 yr warranty so I went to exchange it but the original elite controller is discontinued and they were completely out of stock on the series 2. I waited about 3 weeks and they are finally back in stock, just ordered a new series 2 at like 2am this morning. Thank goodness for warranties and great customer service via Best Buy and Amazon!
Hmm.... The elite 2 is more refinement than must have imo. I will likely get it, but the biggest improvement is the thumbstick tension, which I don't see as a must have.
Wait for series 2. Series 1 elites have terrible RB/LB flaws. I've returned 6 elite controllers ( under BestBuy extended warranty), and all six had broken bumpers. My nephew has the new white elite. His broke after 3 or 4 months.
@@brsandlin9 I went ahead and got the series 1 from Best Buy with the replacement plan. I figured if it breaks, they won't have anymore in stock and will be forced to upgrade me to the newer model...*in a perfect world*
Good comparison. One question on the Arctic 9X: Can the Mic only be muted with the button activated so it’s always red indicated, or is there another way? Is it active whole completely retracted? I think it’s a bit annoying always having the red Led on plus a bit more battery consuming? Regards.
I don't know what this guy is talking about when it comes to game volume control and chat volume control super easy to control and balance im talking from experience i have ls, artics, and astros lucidsound in my opinion is king
I had the LucidSound and Astro A50... LucidSound sucks, you have to be very careful when moving the dial... you can go from barely hearing someone and having the game blast to the complete opposite with a tiny movement.
Out of the two which one has the best range? I know you mentioned in the LS35x review that the range is limited. Out of all the headsets you've reviewed which one do you think has the best range? I currently have the stealth 600 but I think they have to go back, just to tight on me. Great videos btw..
Hmmm thats a tough one, a lot can affect range. The Arctis 9x i would say had a little more range consistently, but honestly none of the direct connect headsets excelled in this area. If the 600 was tight i would probably go with LS35X
I’ve been wanting to get a new headset, I’ve had my turtle beach 420x for over 3 years now, and it’s pretty beaten up and I need an upgrade 😅 I wanna get the arctis 9x but I’ve seen complaints that people lose connection to their Xbox while using them and also since they aren’t so loud compared to other headsets, idk how big of a problem that would be cause sometimes I be “soundwhoring” on cod or on fortnite so I hope that isn’t too big of a deal. Also some people have said that they prefer the rig 800lx over the 9x, have you tried the rigs out yet?
I haven't tried the Rig yet, it's on my list of things to do. I will say I have seen plenty of complaints about the rig having distortion at high volumes. The 9x gets plenty loud for me. It's true it can't push the volume as loud as the LS35X or high end Astros, but it should be loud enough for most people. As far as connection drops go I wouldn't worry too much. Every direct connect headset has had reports of that being an issue and has been fixed through firmware updates. SteelSeries will almost definitely patch it if it's a wide spread problem, or replace the headset if it's a small batch issue.
Having owned both the LS35X and the 9X, they both perform the same when it comes to keeping a connection to the console. I live in an apartment building and some days I have absolutely no issues, some days I'll have a tiny bit of interference, but in the middle of a game it's barely noticeable. I've never had either lose connection to the console, unless I had a couple walls between me and the Xbox. The LS35X had issues when it first released that has been fixed with a firmware update, so lots of the negative reviews you will see on it will be from before it was fixed.
I currently just bought the Rig 800lx SE for xbox about a month ago. They're incredibly light and comfortable and get plenty loud, coming from stealth 600 btw, I haven't really noticed a distortion either and I've put it through heavy bass testing. They do have a connection dongle that plugs into xbox which I'm not used to from my stealth 600s but honestly the little box doesnt bother me. They sound really good overall and if you dont already have Dolby atmos unlike me as I purchased it about a year or so ago it does come with and atmos activation card and retails at 149.9o however they go on sale every now and then and I was able to pick them up for $99 and that honestly is a steal. I wasn't sure at first because the plastic looks cheap but honestly they feel very solid and the headband is very comfortable. I heavily considered the 9x but I've seen hundreds of connection issue reviews and decided for half the price to give these a shot and I'm glad I did even tried the turtle beach elite 2s right before these.
my ls35x have broke on both earcup swivel points . the swivel points are plastic and break really easily i take real good care of my things and im pissed that these have cracked on the swivel points wont buy again im going with the 9x next
Mine just broke the other day. I take good care of my stuff and after just a year the left cup thing snapped and won't hold to my head. Won't be buying anymore lucidsound until they sort their stuff out a few years from now
Okay so i have had both. Back to the arctis 9x just repurchased . My only issue with the 9 x is you cant go very far from the xbox, series x what i have im good for maybe 8-10 ft tops that is it . The ls35 x i could go almost 10 more ft for connection. Comfort and directionality is a tad better on the arctis 9 x
I never had issues with them besides a shorter than average range. However, steelseries just released the Arctis 7x. Which is essentially the same thing minus Bluetooth. For $50 less I would be inclined to go for those. I will try to test them out when the series x comes out
Any recommendations for the eq settings for footsteps for the 9x?? I’ve tweaked it so many times and I’m just not sure if I have it where it needs to be
Depends on the game. For the most part if you increase your upper mids and treble it will bring out more detail sound. Some games have bass heavier footsteps so you would increase that instead. For Apex I run the default preset and feel like I can hear people very early. But Apex is also designed to highlight footsteps.
How easy are the LS35x to set up with pc? I game on PC and enjoy watching movies on Netflix etc through my Xbox. Considering LS35X are 55$ USD cheaper on Amazon as I type this, I'm considering grabbing them while I can.. just skeptical about PC connectivity.
I currently have the LS35X. I’ve only had them for a couple days and I love everything about them so far. I just don’t know anything about updating the headsets from time to time. Didn’t know that was a thing lol. But after reading some reviews online about these, I’m scared that my headset will crack after a month or two. Basically what I’m saying is do you think the LS35X is worth the buy even if the swivel bits crack? Or should I just return these and get the Steelseries? Thanks
I use the Arctis 9x as my daily driver, but my LS35X is still going strong and has seen a lot of use. They may break, but they may not. If you like them, keep them and hopefully if they break they are still under warranty. Your choice at the end of they day. I like them both, I like the 9x more.
GameGear TV yeah I bought them from like a third party store. So I wouldn’t have a warranty on them I don’t think. Manufactures warranty maybe, but idk otherwise. Thanks for replying tho, it helped!!
My ls35x just broke at just over a year of use. Didn't mistreat them or anything and something in the headband snapped and now won't hold to my head. Bought the a50 and enjoying it so far. Much much better audio quality as well on the a50
I've had my LS35X for almost 3yrs this upcoming spring. Didn't know about it cracking. So i checked and there is a crack on my right side. I will say the first couple of months the sound would sometimes sound crappy. Eventually it went away. They are my first gaming headseat besides the cheap ones that would come with the xbox. Audio is awesome. Only problem now is the earpads to replace are out of stock for months now. So im thinking of just buying some covers in the meantime since there's no other option.
I just picked up the LS35X, I can’t for the life of me figure out the Master & chat mix volume controls. The left knob, supposedly, controls the game volume - but the right also controls the game volume as well. I’m confused. Why doesn’t the right knob just control the level of chat volume, like every other headset known to man - why must it be merged with game volume as well? Any help would be appreciated. Also, is my wife deaf? She says her cheap TB600’s sound better and give a wider soundstage to directionally locate enemies. I haven’t tried her headset.
GameGear TV Welp, it appears that they did not change this functionality on the LS50X - disappointing. Interesting decision that they went with a dongle connection over the direct connect feature as well. That she is.
Totally forgot to mention it. They are both good. The LS35X has more static sound when nothing else is playing (but not noticeable at all otherwise). The 9x can adjust the level of mic monitoring which is nicer
Got the 9x a few days go and cant seem to get the footsteps louder in pubg..download the equalizer and still low tone...any advice??? Also I have the tb 800x and the sound is great...so moving over to low tone for 199. Is not the acceptable...
You can try boosting sounds by raising the mid ran frequencies in the EQ. If you want to just raise all sounds bump all of the frequencies over the neutral line in a curve that sounds good to you. SteelSeries is known for not having really loud max volume. European noise laws or something.
I was able to get the 9X's for $179. Thank you for this video, I was torn between these two after my A50's died on me, but didn't want to spend another $300.
Enrique Godinez they’re the best, it just depends where you’re at if you’re far away then it’ll disconnect but I never had any connection issues with the 9x
I get that this is old vid but I’m stuck between these 2 headsets my question is I have a big ass melon head my fitted hat size is a 7 3/4 is either pair better for a bigger noggin any help greatly appreciated
I would stick to the lucid sound between the two. If your ears are tall I would consider looking into something like the sennheiser game one, the ear cups are very tall.
Product reviews on things like this are hilarious because sound is subjective. Most reviews say the LS35X has a bigger soundstage than the Arctic 9x then I watch this review and it says the opposite.
It certainly is hard to quantify everything for everyone. Even sites like rtings have certain headphones performing top tier when they are not that great. Things like over-emphasized ranges, muddy audio or poor separation are easy enough to judge. But even within the same headset model different users may have different experiences from fit/seal or preferred tuning. But we can try to provide information that will be useful for as many people as possible. Otherwise it would just be “yeah these $40 amazon headphones are pretty good. They have sound sometimes”.
I need help should I get the Razer tournament edition or thresher direct connect is the 50 dollar price difference worth it because mine broke and I only trust you please respond
I will try and answer all of your questions here. As far as durability between wireless and wired, there can be lemons regardless. The cable from the headset to the controller can get snagged and damaged that way, but as long as you take care of your headset you should be fine with either, its personal preference. Unless a wired model is significantly better sounding, I prefer wireless. So between the Thresher wireless and TE, I would get the wireless for myself. However, as you asked, I do think the LS35x is better than the Thresher. It has a cleaner, more open sound. If you like a lot of bass the Thresher will do just fine.
GameGear TV by the way I don’t think I’ll buy turtle beach. Again the more pricey ones are good I’ve had the 600 for a week and the audio is slower and the volume sounds extremely scratchy it’s not my internet but did u have the same problem
I've had two 600's now. The first one broke, but it sounded better than the 2nd one in my opinion. The volume was on the low end, but I never had scratchy audio. They both had good sound, just not enough power to bring the sound out.
@@ParksyDZN In my experience testing both of them, the LS35x has just a littler fuller/richer reproduction in the microphone. The 9x has a good mic and they are very close overall. The 9x also blocks out ambient background noise (minus breathing) a lot better.
Great review! Im having issues with the mic monitoring on the 9x it’s not working even on high and my wife is about to kill me for yelling all the time! 🤣🤣 have you had any issues?
For a decent headset widely regarded as one of the best wireless headsets I’m shocked at how bad that mic sounds. It’s so annoying when team mates sound muted with exaggerated S’s and Ts
Hey man I’m wondering. I am questioning if I should buy the a40s. I’m hearing a lot of good about them but there are always negative reviews about them. My biggest problem with mics is either the game sound is not immersive or loud enough. When they are loud enough my friends complain that they can hear my game volume. Do the a40s have this problem or no?
No, they can pump out good volume without mic bleed. They do sound good, but my favorite aspect of them is how well they can cancel out noise (sometimes they are too aggressive at this)
I haven't been able to find a headset that sounds as good or gets as loud as my Sennheiser GSP 550's. Wireless is just scary because I ended up hating my astro A50's after using the sennheisers... ugh. I am tempted to get the 9x but I am fearful of the connectivity issues that is plastered allllll over the internet about them... plus if they don't get loud enough I'd be pretty upset too.
If only the GSP’s worked on Xbox! The only connectivity issue I have ever had is range, but no issues with drops. They are loud enough for me, but can’t get as loud as running a wired headset with an amp.
I don’t suppose anyone could help me? I’m looking to get a new headset for my Xbox but I’m tore between these two headsets which one would be better for shooter games and so on?
I recently returned my hyperx headset for cracking and loosing connection more often than not, thats my biggest issue, I want something durable with no connection issues, and I don't wanna gamble it I want one that just doesn't have that problem at all
It’s hard to predict with any wireless headset if it will have any connection issues at all in your given environment. The 9x and LS35X have both been reliable for me in this area. The 9x is more durable. The pieces connecting the headband to the earcups on my ls35x have both broken. I taped it and zip tied it to hold it together because I still love them. But the 9x is better built.
I have heard the entire arctis line has poor mic monitoring/sidetone. Can I get your thoughts on this set? Really considering this set but I need good mic monitoring/sidetone. I'm coming from the TB stealth 600's if you have any comparison there.
The mic monitoring is not great. It's a two step issue. For the mic monitoring to be good it needs to be close to your mouth. For me when it's really close to my mouth it picks up a lot of breathing. Not a deal breaker for me, but if you want strong mic monitoring you should look elsewhere. If you are okay with wired, consider an open back option.
Love them for every reason except this is the only bad thing. Had them a month and then they just started cutting out every few minutes here and there. Arctis faq blames being too close to the router and other random things that I can't control, so I'm giving them a little more time before I consider returning them. I really don't want to tho!
@@korderoharris05 I unfortunately can't move anything the way everything is set up right where the internet line comes into the house, so I just gave them some more time and after that week I posted, I haven't had any more issues. I did do a hard reset, but they still had the same problem the next day or two at least. I really like them so I hope they keep working since I can't return them now. :)
kordero harris they are great I haven’t had no problems with my 9x had them for 2 months already love that when i get a call i Can take it while having them on
At the moment, I keep whatever I like the most at the time for personal use, and I sell the rest to try and recoup funds to buy more. As you say, its pricey! If I grow to a point where I can realistically afford to give some away I would love to!
I still think the Turtlebeach 800(x) series are the best wireless headset.. I haven’t seen a headset that would make me change.. Loads of presets and sub presets Bluetooth Wireless Reasonable battery life Comfortable Independent volume control ie chat is separate to game play, also have the function to Bluetooth to your phone to play music or use discord whilst gaming on the Xbox. It has noise cancellation Internal Mic (which I prefer) Other headset seem to lacking functions.
My hyper X cloud 2s sucked for the new cod beta when it came to foot steps and when I tried another friends headset I was able to hear footsteps better but the game sounded like shit. My cloud 2s have been amazing on hearing footsteps in every other game like bo4 I didn’t have a problem so I’m hoping it’s just a beta problem and my headset will be good when the game comes out or I might buy the Arctis 9x
Lucid Sound....Over marketed and pumped garbage. The worst connectivity I’ve ever owned. Subpar quiet sound when at full blast. Zero customer service support. There is my Lucid Sound Review
Well, it took me longer than I would have liked to get it out, but here it is. Some of my commentary is already behind the ball. Did anyone else think the Scarlett announcement was a bit of a letdown?
Yeah, no doubt. I guess I was hoping to see the hardware. I am excited for the new elite controller
How is the 9x with Dolby Atmos or windows sonic? Do they improve the headphones much?
Thanks for the time you put into this man. It's hard to find an honest review. Too many videos are little more than sponsored ads.
Thanks for the support! I will probably never get sponsored haha.
This might be the best comparison video I’ve ever watched! Well done!
Especially once you stretch the aluminum headband of the 9X a tad to reduce the clamping force
buy leather ear cups from their website
Where can you get the leather earcups.
@@frozengamer3030 you can order them straight from steelseries.com they are 14.99
Austin Keeton I just realised that they sent me the leather cushion for free with my purchase. Do you know if you could change the speaker plates on the 9x

Manuel Padilla yeah but it gives a 7 day free trial, I bought it. The headphones cost way to much to not get out of them what you expect. And I found the sound varies for each game. Call of duty was very loud without this program. But games like PUBG needed it badly
Kris Williams I been using Dolby Atmos for a year

Sup Guardian....I appreciate your reviews. It's helping me make my final choice.
You must choose, but choose wisely.
GUARDIAN DOWN!!!
Great video. Really appreciate how in depth you are with your reviews. Thanks! Can't wait to hear about your review on the A40s.
Hey thanks for the support. I'm liking the A40 so far. I'll try and be faster getting the video out for it
Really great job reviewing these two headsets without any biases!
Thank you!
Thanks bro. Good review. You helped me out and I have now decided. 👍
Collay420 • what did you decide???
Tyler Sanders I got the 9xs. Definitely no regrets at all. They have improved my gameplay immensely.
These were the 2 headsets I was literally sitting there fighting with myself over so I hope I made the right choice. I went with the Ls35x
Awesome headset
What if we add in the stealth 700s?
So many contradictory reviews on all of these xbox headsets.....I cant decide which to go with
I have had nothing but good things to say about my Ls35x. I play with my volumes allot so the fact that I just rotate my ear cup for volume control is amazing to me. And honestly there very comfortable.
@@taylorbatchelor6076 how's the sound and connection?
Awesome video to the point. Honest . earned a new subscriber
No, I never had that happen. But that would be annoying as hell!

first, sorry for the bad English.
The issue is if ur wifi + smart TV + xbox are in the same place you will have a big issue of cutting off because of the 2.4G signal.
ur wifi modem need to be far away and u r using cable for ur xbox + turn off wifi in ur smart TV then it will work fine.
the thing is u r using many devices that use 2.4G in on place
1- wifi modem
2- smart TV
3- xbox controller
4- 9x headset
5- mobile phone
6- ur xbox (if u r using wifi instead of ethernet cable)
and in my case I also have wifi NVR for security cameras that happen to use 2.4G signal also.

Great review. Loved the Alienware computer
If u order the steelseries on their website u get the leather ear cups for free
I bought them a couple days after release and had to pay extra. Now I get them for free, bs
The 9x is a little better, but neither are very good.

Would you recommend the lucid sound now the xbox has a built in party chat/ game chat mixer on the guide button?
How do you charge the lucid sound
I just received the Lucid LS50x Snoop Dog Limited Edition. They are phenomenal and Snoop lends his voice to be the headset's voice prompt. Perfection!
I really want the LS50x in the white on silver from the snoop dogg, but would prefer one without the snoop branding and voice prompts. I will probably pick up the standard version for review
@@gamegeartv8167 if you by chance got them please review I want to get one headset, either the 9X or LS50X and I'm really indecisive!

I've been using the TB Elite 800x and I am impressed with the bass while keeping the highs fine too, not muddy. How do the high and lows compare from the Arctis and ls35x to the TB Elite 800x?
I have not used the 800x, but it has been suggested several times. I will certainly take a look at it when I can.
Still loving the TB Elite 800x..wondering if either of these two are better...
Where did you get the master chief helmet sitting on the desk. I tried to find one like it and cannot. I would like to get one of those for my desk.
Halo 3 legendary edition. Got it on release day in 2007. There is one from jazware i think. I’ve seen them in gamestop and best buy.
@@gamegeartv8167 Thanks for answering, I'll check it out.
Ls35x sounded good on the mic.
Halo 2 or Halo 3 i played abit of Halo Reach didn’t get play much of it cause my brother wouldn’t share xbox 360 😞 but Halo Reach was fun
Edit Mar 27, 2020:
So I had the LS35x headset for about 8 months and the headband plastic swivel piece cracked on the left side and showed cracking on the right side also.
@@gamegeartv8167 Very true...The refinements aren't a must have. We electronics junkies just like new and shiny things lol. Thanks for the response!
I figured if it breaks, they won't have anymore in stock and will be forced to upgrade me to the newer model...*in a perfect world*
Could happen.
Good comparison.
One question on the Arctic 9X: Can the Mic only be muted with the button activated so it’s always red indicated, or is there another way? Is it active whole completely retracted?
I think it’s a bit annoying always having the red Led on plus a bit more battery consuming?
Regards.
You can mute your mic in the xbox party chat settings. I think the button is very useful though.
The 9x is way more comfortable then the ls35x its not even close lol.
Disagree
Agree on price the 9x should be no higher than a 120$ seriously…
Great video mate, would you prefer the 9x or a40s ?
A40's sound better overall. 9x has wireless freedom and are a little more comfortable.
my ls35x have broke on both earcup swivel points . the swivel points are plastic and break really easily i take real good care of my things and im pissed that these have cracked on the swivel points wont buy again im going with the 9x next
dontemcf same issue.
Mine just broke the other day. I take good care of my stuff and after just a year the left cup thing snapped and won't hold to my head. Won't be buying anymore lucidsound until they sort their stuff out a few years from now
Same issue with mine, both sides broken
Okay so i have had both. Back to the arctis 9x just repurchased . My only issue with the 9 x is you cant go very far from the xbox, series x what i have im good for maybe 8-10 ft tops that is it . The ls35 x i could go almost 10 more ft for connection. Comfort and directionality is a tad better on the arctis 9 x
Does the 9x struggle with connectivity issues still? I'm looking at getting a pair but that would be a deal breaker
You just need the Xbox wireless adapter for Windows 10. Plug that in and they sync up very easily like they would on a console.
GameGear TV thank you , great video
Thanks!
How’s the latency in the Bluetooth connectivity as I read it was high enough to not match what your looking at on screen, a slight delay?
The chat mix sucks, so once you find that sweet spot stick to it. Your wife is audio challenged.
GameGear TV Welp, it appears that they did not change this functionality on the LS50X - disappointing. Interesting decision that they went with a dongle connection over the direct connect feature as well. That she is.
I was able to get the 9x on steel series website with a promo code for $176 even. so that made it easier for me to buy them
What was the promo.code or where did you get it?
@@alanmontandon4452 i don't remember exactly but I googled steel series promo code and just looked until I found one that worked
Good review what's the voice feedback like? if they have any
Totally forgot to mention it.
Nice! Enjoy them.
How have the 9xs been? I’m thinking of getting them but I’m seeing a bunch of people saying they disconnect 😬
The LucidSound has a wider size adjustment. Id probably go with that.

Haven't tested the Alphas. I've heard good things though
GameGear TV just bought the 9x hopefully they sound just as good with the wire
I’ve had alphas and I can pinpoint ppl way better with 9x.

Phil Gray want the alphas but they aren’t wireless. Idk what to do
Halo 2! Great review
Do either of these headsets have simultaneous audio where you can have your PC/stream audio playing at the same time as your Xbox game?
Not wirelessly. You could try running a cable from the PC while it's hooked up to Xbox, but it's not the best solution.
I believe the 9x can connect to anything Bluetooth while connected to your Xbox at the same time
Halo 2 lockout system link shotty snipers.. Nice review
I sucked so bad at shotty/snipers.
If any ones worrying about the mic quality on the 9x if u put the mic closer to ur mouth it will be louder
Which is the better for bigger ears I have the lucid sound but was gonna upgrade to the 9x
I would stick to the lucid sound between the two. If your ears are tall I would consider looking into something like the sennheiser game one, the ear cups are very tall.
Thanks I find the Lucius hurt my ears after a while I want something that completely engulfs my ears and provides the best sound is that the Astro ?
Sound-wise which would you recommend for PvP such as rainbow 6 siege, PUBG, Battlefeild, ect?
@Ten O okay thank you for replying so quickly!!
I agree with Ten O. The SteelSeries is better overall.
I just got the Ls35x and I can’t find the sweet spot for sound it just goes from low to high like that. Have any suggestions brother
Patience. Adjusting the volume and game chat balance simultaneously and it’s hard to get the spot. Once you find it try not to change it.
Download dobly atmos on Xbox and change voice chat option to dobly for headphone.
GameGear TV thank you so much 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
GameGear TV by the way I don’t think I’ll buy turtle beach.
The Arctis 9X are trash, I’ve gone through two of the stupid things in the last few months. Part where the earcup pivots keeps breaking off.
Does ls35x echo because the current mic I caught my friends can hear themselves through my mic so does the lucid sound echo
No, there's no echo. However it is sensitive. So if you play with someone in the same room, their voice may get picked up too.
Halo 2 if playing with someone Halo 3 if solo
How can the ls35x have a better mic, steel series use a clear cast mic which they use in plane crafts?
Charlie Parker the native mic on the 9x is better but when u use Bluetooth the mic doesn’t sound as good
Red Falcon66 ok. So for gaming it is better but Bluetooth is not better?
Charlie Parker yes correct and if u watch other videos most tell u or look it up I bought the headset it’s really good btw
@@ParksyDZN In my experience testing both of them, the LS35x has just a littler fuller/richer reproduction in the microphone. The 9x has a good mic and they are very close overall. The 9x also blocks out ambient background noise (minus breathing) a lot better.
Also have both.. .arctis 9 all day!!
Great review! Im having issues with the mic monitoring on the 9x it’s not working even on high and my wife is about to kill me for yelling all the time! 🤣🤣 have you had any issues?
None. Do you notice any difference between settings? May be a faulty unit.
No difference
I'd exchange it or warranty it out.
Definitely a faulty unit as mine are perfect. Never have to shout into the microphone
For a decent headset widely regarded as one of the best wireless headsets I’m shocked at how bad that mic sounds. It’s so annoying when team mates sound muted with exaggerated S’s and Ts
This channel started with a quest to find the perfect all around headset. Still looking.
I want to know if either of these supports Dolby Atmos
Both do.
They do sound good, but my favorite aspect of them is how well they can cancel out noise (sometimes they are too aggressive at this)
Just a shame the 9x isnt louder
It’s loud enough.
@@gamegeartv8167 yeah, but the GSP I use is a wired headset. Haven't tried the wireless variants

If you are okay with wired, consider an open back option.
the game chat balance is great on the LS, you literally rotate the cups. Idk how u have a problem with that
I just want to know if I can hear footsteps or not!
Can’t go wrong with either. I’ve been using the ls35x for warzone. Seems to play well with that audio engine.
Iv seen alot of reviews saying the Arctis 9x disconnect allot on BT anyone experience that ?
Love them for every reason except this is the only bad thing. Had them a month and then they just started cutting out every few minutes here and there. Arctis faq blames being too close to the router and other random things that I can't control, so I'm giving them a little more time before I consider returning them. I really don't want to tho!
Scott Nass have they gotten any better I’m think about buying the 9x ... did moving the Xbox or router work ?
@@korderoharris05 I unfortunately can't move anything the way everything is set up right where the internet line comes into the house, so I just gave them some more time and after that week I posted, I haven't had any more issues. I did do a hard reset, but they still had the same problem the next day or two at least. I really like them so I hope they keep working since I can't return them now. :)
kordero harris they are great I haven’t had no problems with my 9x had them for 2 months already love that when i get a call i Can take it while having them on
Also what do you do with all your headsets it must be pricy maybe in the future maybe giveaway for 1 😎😎
At the moment, I keep whatever I like the most at the time for personal use, and I sell the rest to try and recoup funds to buy more. As you say, its pricey! If I grow to a point where I can realistically afford to give some away I would love to!
I want that chin
I still think the Turtlebeach 800(x) series are the best wireless headset.. I haven’t seen a headset that would make me change..
Loads of presets and sub presets
Bluetooth
Wireless
Reasonable battery life
Comfortable
Independent volume control ie chat is separate to game play, also have the function to Bluetooth to your phone to play music or use discord whilst gaming on the Xbox.
It has noise cancellation
Internal Mic (which I prefer)
Other headset seem to lacking functions.
I really need to try it out one of these days!
That’s not even out yet lmao. 9x is way better
Would these be a good replacement for my Astro a10’s?
Definitely
I haven't seen anything released on the 50's to justify their price premium yet.
Witch would you prefer I’m looking for more of comfort and good sound
Just bought the ls35x for $109 on amazon
Nice! Great deal
I’ve had the steel series 9x and they failed. Refunded
What do you mean they failed? If you don't mind sharing :)
Very sorry also is lucid sound 35 better than the threshers
Yo .Motha yes
you can get leather ear cushions on the 9x
Yeah, but it's much more than the leather that makes the LS35X cushions so nice.
I like ur chin
Lucid Sound....Over marketed and pumped garbage. The worst connectivity I’ve ever owned. Subpar quiet sound when at full blast. Zero customer service support. There is my Lucid Sound Review
My turtle beachs stealth 700 are trash for footsteps etc
Halo 3!
