A particularly great line-up of the Melvins here. Sharp banter and colossal tunes.

Mark Deutrom - King Buzz - Dale Crover. The best lineup of the Melvins.

The Rutmanis era was better live, but they made the best records with Mark, for sure.

agreed. he had great basslines on stag and stoner witch.

That may be due to Rutmanis being one of the greatest - and one of the most sonically lethal - bass players in the business.

+Melvin Melvins yes but unfortunately he screwed up and got kicked out. Mark's basslines were better. imo. I saw them live with mark and kevin and both line ups were solid live.

You saw both? Nice! I saw the Rutmanis era myself. I will say though that while it's true that Kevin screwed up, that has nothing to with his playing - Mark got kicked out too, after all. I agree that Mark's playing is great, and I feel that with Kevin they could've utilised him a bit more on the studio albums, given his work with the Cows. Live however I felt he was pretty much the best, equalled only by Jared, maybe. : )

It's funny when they were joking about if you buy their records now you'll be able to say you knew them in their early days cuz at the time of this interview they had been a band for over 10 years. "early days" :D

I love the Melvins...I bought most Melvins records my trip to Auckland,New Zealand.Melvins is the most rare bands that most people in my country wouldn't know.Melvins is my fav band..I love this line up..King Buzzo..Dale cover..Mark D ( the cool cowboy hat).I love Mark D. style..wow! A bass player at the cowboy hat..fuckin' awesome..I love dale's hard hitting drums & distorted hi hat cymbals..believe me..I myself as a musician..I really adore Dale Crover's drumming style..especially that rusty hi hat cymbal most I've heard Stoner witch album..for king buzzo..I love & respect this guy much..big haired remains me of Robert Smith (the cure) + Black Gibson heavier raw sound, very straight to the point, humble ,disagree talk about drugs.
