Also, it looks like he’s from a history rich region of the world meaning yes, lots of stuff gets dropped, lost, carried by the seas etc. speaking of finding it at the waters edge…have you noticed how the ocean waves bring things to shore in a line along the water’s edge naturally? That’s why it’s a great spot to find things whether looking for shells, driftwood, flip flops from the other side of the world etc. but it also brings metal things, albeit more slowly, if light enough or carrying an air pocket, like this thermos, they can wash upon the shore and get buried in sand. It really happens! You can find stuff too. I don’t have a metal detector and I find random stuff all the time.
