  • Travel Update: Europe has new visa rules for Americans traveling in 2024 to the Schengen Zone. Here's everything you need to know about the new visa Americans need to visit Europe starting in January 2024.
    It's called the ETIAS visa that you'll need to apply for before you travel to Europe! The visa is also for British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, (and more!) citizens who want to travel to Europe. In this video I got over what is ETIAS, who needs to apply for the ETIAS, what the ETIAS application consists of, how much the ETIAS visa costs, how long the ETIAS is valid for, and so much more! It's your guide to the new Europe visa!

    It's not a visa. Visas require you to go apply at embassies of consulates. You apply for this online, so it can't be a visa. It's a visa waiver. Plus, you have to book your trip first. They're going to want to know your travel itinerary when you apply. Also, before applying, call your credit card bank to make sure your credit/debit card goes through. It is an overseas outfit. And we don't know that it will start in January. It could get postponed again until after the Paris summer olymic games. I understand France doesn't want it until after the olympics. But, we'll see.

      It’s the exact same situation as the visa Americans need to enter New Zealand which is called the “New Zealand ETA visa” - so yeah it can be called a visa!! And ya it says launching in 2024 on their website, so we’ll see!

      @@SheRunTheWorldit’s not a “visa” it’s more like a passcode to the country 😂. Visa gets you a stamp of permit entry to Australia, New Zealand USA or anywhere that requires it and the EU as well. But Etias is more of an electronic travel waiver… well basically you can get it in like 10mins. Unlike visas which you get in 3months or so. The etias is just like a password. And there’s a low chance(4%) of it getting rejected unlike visas.

    Thank you for the video and information. I have a quick question, if I am planning to travel to Europe in December 2023 from one of the green countries, do I need to apply this etias-waiver? Thanks

      You’re welcome! Nope, I’m 2023 you’re good and don’t need to apply for the ETIAS!

    The ETIAS isn’t a different document. It’s linked to your passport. Right now our passports get stamped at the airport. But when this comes into play, we don’t need it to get stamped. And it’s not a “visa” it’s an electronic travel system. It doesn’t get stamped on your passport.
    The EU general secretary stated it too.

      It’s the same thing as the E-visa Americans need for New Zealand which is all done completely online but referred to as a visa. Never said it got stamped!

      @@SheRunTheWorld oh well.. uhmm I think we understand it differently😂 which is actually fine. I’m just saying because the EU secretary said it’s not a visa. All the same we gonna hear from the EU soon on how it’s gonna work😊. Can’t wait🥳

    0:35 ETIAS is *not* going into effect in Jan 2024. The precursor EES Entry / Exit System biometric collection and e-gates are not even fully in place yet. Most likely EES will launch after the 2024 Paris olympics and ETIAS not until 2025

      I just read a news article online that it's getting delayed again, according to several media sources. Delayed until 2025. Probably because of the Paris summer games.

    ETIAS for EU, ESTA for US, ETA for Australia. Sounds more like a way to fleece people than anything else. Government revenues are falling worldwide and they're getting deeper into debt so expect more of the same from other countries as well even if you're supposed to have visa free privileges entering them. Most of them would say that they need the extra regulations for "security reasons".

    Why this video now? Did you apply and get it? This is what the web site says now. "ETIAS is currently not in operation and no applications are collected at this point."

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah I said in the video “once they start accepting applications” which means they’re not right now. It’s to let people know if they have 2024 Europe travel plans they’ll need to get this visa & then tell them exactly how to get it with all the details

    What if you have a transit flight via EU, do you need still apply for a visa?

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  11 месяцев назад +1

      I believe if you are not entering the country & going through customs/immigration you do not need to apply for the visa. So if you just have a short layover and are staying in the airport, you should be fine since you’re not technically entering the EU. I’d double check the website to be sure!

      This is what is states: No, you do not need an ETIAS travel authorization if you only remain in the international transit area. However, you must have a valid travel authorization if you leave this area and enter the territory of any of the European countries requiring ETIAS @@SheRunTheWorld

    and USA will also charge one $1.50 to use our bathrooms. EU will need to show their Passport to use our toilets. American will not pay but Europeans will have to pay. Just like we have to pay to use EU toilets
