Goodbye Driver: San Francisco

- Driver: San Francisco marks the last major mainline release in the Driver series. Ubisoft announced earlier this year they were taking down it's servers on October 1st. Over the last month, I've been trying to recapture the magic and relive this game in it's final days. This is my eulogy to Driver: San Francisco.

Thank you guys so much for watching! This video was an absolute labor of love from me, I had been working on it on and off since late August. Due to some life stuff I had to delay it a few times, but it's finally here! I hope you enjoy. :)
If this game gets a remaster think about how happy people would be.
I'd buy it day one, no doubt.
Ubisoft will close soon or will be bought clean (what kind of fool will do it, I wonder ...). Therefore, the chance is sooo small, but it's a pity that it needs to be updated, in fact, only the graphics and, if possible, the landscape of the city (at the moment San Francisco is well created only in watch dogs 2, but with its own jambs).
The Driver licence was actually for sale a year ago for about 7mill
Last I heard alot of fans of the franchise were talking a deal with a bitcoin investor to acquire it and release a driver game again

That is a Charger in the Bullitt mission, the Duke's reference is done through the Movie Challenge "YEEHAW"
Huh... You're absolutely right! I need my eyes checked. I had to double check the missions as well, YEEHAW doesn't really capture that Dukes vibe, the car doesn't have the number or the flag on it's roof, but I guess they did what they could considering the map they had. Good call out.
This game is a masterpiece i think its one of the most underrated games of all time. I loved the movie challenges were just perfect. And in the soundtrack is amazing. Nice video

Great video. I had Driver San Francisco since it came out. Played multiplayer 15 hours nonstop days before the Servers shut down. It is one of the best games I've ever player. The story, soundtrack, city are incredible. Shame the servers shut down. Driver San Francisco will live on in some way shape or form. The community is strong and thanks to them PC players still have the ability to play online through Alcatraz. Thank you Driver San Francisco for all the good memories.

But he didn't go into a coma after he pinned Jericho down with the car, so that's highly unlikely. I still wish they'd make a sixth Driver, the Speedboat Paradise game was a horrible ending to an amazing franchise..
Seeing how company's ultimately are doing the remasters and remake's of the games... PLEASE don't remaster Driver San Francisco. port it in 4k, 60fps or whatever but don't destroy the last Driver, it's sad that you can't get this game, and more sad would be that they ruin it.
It still holds up today, I hate how it isn't available to buy today.

I actually thought the servers were shutdown for a while but apparently they aren't for some reason at least for the PS3 they're still online. I was able to make a Uplay account and signed into Driver SF online so the servers are still up but are unfortunately dead, I still want to get the platinum for this game so hopefully I'll be able to find a public lobby that is alive.
They went offline when this video was made, but then mysteriously came back online a month or two later. There's a driver discord where people find others to play with, that might be an option for you. Otherwise yeah, game is pretty much dead. The game was VERY active it's "final" month or so.

i got into this game after it was shutsdown and found some mods to play online
Do you have the name of the mod? I'd love to check it out.
The reason for shutdown may be because of licensing(vehicles, music etc), server maintanance cost and issues. I guess this game will be revived by a team like psone. We got Motorstorm, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Wipeout HD and a few more.
From what I read, lots of these older games get shut down because of security issues. Not sure how true that is, just what I read.
Driver: San Francisco is extremely hysterical insanity and frivolous i’ve laughed at the entire scene.
That this is when the events that occurred happened when John Tanner is set a coma whilst hospitalised 🏥
John Tanner doesn’t know remember realise that he’s in a coma.
But Charles Jericho tells him,
John Tanner now that he remembered knows realises he’s in a coma whilst hospitalised 🏥
Tobias Jones thinks that John Tanner has to get remained hospitalised.
Tobias Jones had a negative reaction of a shift and doesn’t care.
Tobias Jones saw the shift after taking down a truck and John Tanner has his “Super powers”
It is the most dreadful writing ever senseless plot.
And not the moral of the story.
John Tanner and Charles Jericho had the shift that is not logic and not real only sets in a coma not the real world.
John Tanner wakes up in a coma and chases Charles Jericho in a real world that is not to “shift.”
“Shift” into another person’s body retaining his person looking and sounding exactly the same as the person he has shifted into. Using this confusing power.
Tanner ends up driving in front of Jericho in an alleyway, who rams Tanner's car into the path of a tractor trailer, resulting in a devastating crash which puts Tanner into a coma.
Too bad I can't buy this game anymore, but I really wanted it, so I had no choice but to download a pirated copy.
It's a shame, I don't blame you for not paying the ridiculous prices on Grey market sites for a key.
My psn is I am batboi in the video. Cool video but in that section we were trying to boost this one trophy and you didn't seem to get the memo lol

I call it the game with the most realistic driving physic
Idk about realistic but it's definitely one of the most fun. It's easy to play but difficult to master.
I can still log in on the Xbox 360, no one is playing but I can get into the multiplayer lobby. I was really confused I thought it was shut down yesterday

what you said at 7:56 is incorrect, the income multiplier only boosts the income you get every 20 minutes, nothing else. still very worth it, though.

Yep, you are correct about that being a charger and not a challenger.
Now waiting for fans to run their own servers for SF.

Is it still worth it for the single player?
Definitely I played it a lot when I was younger (sadly I was unaware of the shutdown so I never came back to it otherwise I would played the heck out that game) but yes it will provide hours of entertainment, enjoyment and if you go on PC am pretty sure there’s a small community keeping the game alive
Absolutely worth it just for the single player. Red Sans hit the nail on the head.

There's a Discord you can join where people organize games and play. Look up Driver Madness.
atleast you can still play the gamemodes of multiplayer in split screen cuz it has all the old missions except free for all

stupid move, I am looking for a musclecar game...had driver 1 long time ago, found out about San fran, 2022, bud its not for sale, same as other driver games....bought forza,only to find out that servers are empty, cars look awsome, bud no gameplay..
If you have a 360, you can still buy the disc secondhand.
