- Dave Matthews again joined Thomas D. Mangelsen and Dr. Jane Goodall this March for their annual trip to Nebraska to witness the sandhill crane migration. After viewing the cranes leave their river roost early in the morning, Dave pulled out his guitar and treated Jane and Tom to a private concert at the cabin. Watch as Dave Matthews performs "Loving Wings".

Ms Jane and Dave, in this setting, with the dogs, the fire, and THIS song... I know why I am crying. It's perfectly beautiful.
Here I am again in 2023. I love this.
Im going to watch it again, its so special.
Perhaps my favorite song Dave has written. Along with the riff its so simple and complex at the same time...and played in front of a fire at a camp with Jane Goodall? I mean Com'on...lol
Dave Matthews with HRH Jane Goodall in peace and serenity. A duo to be respected and not to messed with.
A duo of love and happiness, surrounded in peace and serenity. Very beautiful
Love the bottle of jack on the fireplace mantle. Lucky dogs
This video shows the serene nature of Jane... she spent decades peacfully watching Chimps and that translates into her being able to quietly watch a master at his craft
NextStageFitness Peacefully... really dude?
Agreed!
That's a duo...ty Miss Jane Goodall and David J. Matthews ☝️💜 -jc
*can't leave out the chillest dog of em all*
This is just so encapsulating. It warms my soul every time I pull it up.
What an amazing glimpse into two beautiful worlds!
HAPPY 48TH BIRTHDAY DAVID MATTHEWS !!!!!!
Very cool!!! Love hearing him in just a room with no EQ or reverb.. It really proves how little they do to his voice most of the time!
This song and this version really pulls at the ole ❤
I wish I could string the words together to express just how thankful I am to you for sharing this video. This song means so much to me and instantly brings me to tears over my late mother and every line in this song is beyond accurate. I don't know the reason he wrote it or what it means to him but for me it's crystal clear. My mother passed 4 years ago from lung cancer and this song instantly takes me to the hospital on the night she passed. It not only describes her broken journey in life but also her thanks to me for being there to take her "home". I had just moved from Florida to be with her after 21 years of a long distance Mother/Son relationship that didn't include enough phone calls and not nearly enough visits. It was the best 2 months of my life and at the time I didn't know it because she didn't want me to worry and said the doctors were happy with the results of the treatment and to come back in 3-4 months. Paperwork I found after her passing said she had 3-4 months to live and didn't want me to worry about her. I didn't recognize Jane at first nor did I have the patience to read the captions below before watching this and thought it was his mother he was singing this to. Seeing the way he would glance at her and then quickly turn away because that is how I would have to sing it to my mother if she were hear today. I know from the conversation I was lucky enough and blessed to have with her that last night THIS is our song for the rest of my life and could never thank Mr. Matthews enough for writing it and his talent has changed my life. This song is not very popular for him to perform live and it is limitied online I felt the need to attempt to tell you how grateful this guy is you decided to post it. This is one of those old Master Card commercials that end with one word that describes a moment perfectly........priceless
Thomas Cox yeah for me also it’s like I wish there were words beyond “thank you”!
+ Thomas Cox + No Mother wants their child/children to suffer by letting them know that they only have a few months left before the inevitable happens...she wanted you to enjoy your life and within that she was getting what no medical treatment would, nor ever will be able to give, pure love...I'm not a Mother or Father, I'm simply my Mothers 37yr. old little boy and I'm beyond proud to say that, as I'm sure you are as well...ty for sharing your story, as always, ☝️💜 -jc-
❤️
Just to let everyone know...the lovely lady David is playing for is Jane Goodall, not his Mother...#dMbfacts #dMbfamily...may she rest easy☝️💜
Feel privileged to be invited into their front room..
I love this whole video just as much as the sounds.
If I could be a dog for a day, it would be on this day.
Loving Wings is, hands-down, my favorite DMB song. And this version is so raw and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I've seen this non-stop now. Just love!! 💕💕💕
What a nice treat! What a lovely cabin!!! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful in every way. Thanks very much for sharing!
Beautiful ballads that warm the heart and stirs the soul.the inventor of Zenith radio Eugene McDonald and Philo Farnsworth inventor of television elevate the art of tinkering and dickering. along with Emile Berliner inventor of the victrola among the pantheon of innovators. cheers.
Does not get much better than that!!!
So I take it this is the song that Jane likes?
3:30 someone gets a text and based on Dave's reaction, I bet it was him.
Love this video. Two amazing people.
Ha. Yeah heard that as well. Around 2:10 tho.
At the end of the video 🤦♂️
Wow. That's super special on allot of levels. Mostly the ones about each other.
♥️
How could someone possibly put a "thumbs down" to this?
David O some people have OCD and can’t help themselves
NO TASTE
it is beautiful b/c it is straight through! nice!
Thanks for sharing this seemingly private moment... awesome
Awesome. Post more if he played.....saw the bartender.....thank you for the post.
Love the song and video.
Awesome video! I live just up the river in North Platte and am a huge Dave fan...thanks for sharing!
Please post more videos of Dave. This is awesome.
Incredible.
So lovely
When Tom first posted he was with Dave Matthews I just figured that was just some other photographer. This was a pleasant surprise!
Haha, Dave looks so blitzed.
Amazing
Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome.
wow.......much love :)
The second camera should've been facing Dave front on (or near enough) for a better edit. Awesome all the same.
So comfortable. Wish I was there too.
At 1:32 he starts to laugh , it was discovered that Jane passed wind.
the audio ruins it :( gotta monitor for that buzz
How dare someone send one of them an email and disturb such a peaceful moment....
1:18 mark, a mess up? or intentional timing shift? trying to play along lol
I've noticed a lot of "odd" / off-beat moments in Dave's songs - don't know this song well enough to know if that was an intended hitch or not, if it was an accidental he sure didn't give it away! If I was bold enough to try this song on my own I would (try to) play it same throughout....Seems like it might be a tough one to play and sing at the same time - how'd it go for you?
Is She your grandmother ..??
Who is this sexy fox by the fire? Anyone know if she's single?
+Marshall Mathers are you talking about the dogs or the corpse with grey hair?
Awesome Guy
it was a joke
What type of guitar is that?
That is the type of guitar that Dave makes absolute bliss out of wood and strung metal. In all honesty, I have no idea what type of guitar he used in this video. I hope my reply helped u in some way, shape, or form, or whatever?
Rockbridge
Apologies, 2:12
I unliked just to like again. So sweet
She seems odd in the background. Leave the mutts tho
