I love this I'm born and raised in Lauderhill the fact you letting people know that broward county is on the map too we have very good restaurants not hating on Miami love them too Broward is on point thank you much love❤️
There is an established culture around eating Jamaican patties. We don't like to handle our food with our hands. We NEVER pull the patty completely out of the bag. We hold it while still in the bag and pull it up just enough to take each bite.
The east coast is where the Caribbean/Jamaicans are concentrated. New York City, Florida, Georgia. Next to zero in the southwest. Smiling! London, Brixton, Ontario.
I remember Charlie's patty from the early 90s. Charlie the father was extremely kind. He would give us young people at the time patties when it was late evening.
Wow 😂yall went to Charlie’s Pastries (I basically grew up working there) still have family there. My Dad and relatives started working there in early 1998, since then I been around the family and Charlie (before he passed). He was a great man
There’s a little/big Jamaican community in all the big cities in USA. U should try NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manhattan/Harlem. U have more Jamaicans outside of Jamaica in the USA, CANADA and UK/LONDON.
I enjoyed the Jamaica series. I've watched it several times and even shared it with coworkers visiting Jamaica for the first time. Incorporating this series into my children's learning about Jamaica was also fun. David, I hope you know how impactful and resourceful your videos are and that there's so much to learn about the culture and the food. I always feel hungry after watching.
That means a lot Devi! Thank you so much!! Wow. Thats the reason i do this. My channel started off without food just doing educational type content so its always a part of my mission. Have a blessed one and thank you for such a meaningful comment my friend
Dave!! That’s my stomping grounds and Joy’s is a big favorite!!❤️ Charlie’s and the new coconut spot are favs, also , here in Jamaica now eating WELL😁👌🏽Enjoyyyy
You have a great disposition about you and can see why this is the perfect job for you easy to like as people warm to you so easily. Don't know where you put all that food and still stay so slim, so tasty looking for sure. I'm originally from St Elizabeth, Jamaica like the lady in the restaurant, now in the UK so seeing all these reataurants and shops on a big scale makes my mouth water wanting some now.
DAVID, I can’t believe you were in Lauderhill and I missed you. Your content is off the chain. I’ve “ discovered” a few places because of you so big up yuself. Clears throat, c before g when in Jamaica, curry before goat I believe the other islands or most of them reverse the order in which they say it.
David takes you on the next level of deep inside food cultures far away from even a countries culture if it has over 100 cultures. Love this type of content feel really related to it myself.
watching from Jamaica too , I dont think they should do the mild in America , if you're avoiding spice what u doing eating Jamaican food in the first place lol
A millionnnnn thanks for this David!!!! You know Im all about Jamaica and RASTAFARI ital cuisine 🙏🏻💯🇯🇲❤️💛💚 BLESSINGS PON BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL🎉 HI NATE 👋 NUFF RASPECT INNA EVERY ASPECT AND SAFE TRAVELS!!!!
🕊🙏🏽💐Charlie. Wow I sold my 1st house there in Fort Lauderdale, 20 years ago. I saw the change we did there in the past 40 years. Heard Ali's Roti shop moved too. As a teen I remember Aunt I's Jamaican restaurant open across the Street, on State Rd 7-441. You can keep the hurricanes, June-November! Big Up To My Westindian Familelelele 💘🗽🏙🇺🇸🇯🇲🏴🇮🇪🇹🇹🇮🇳🇵🇦🇨🇦🇬🇧💙❤🖤💛💚🧡
Just an FYI David, you always say to preparation first. Like you would say fried chicken and not chicken fried. That’s why it’s curry chicken and not chicken curry.
It’s the same, different preparations / regions. It’s a foolish argument. Jamaicans say “Curry (whatever)”, perhaps Guyanese say “Goat Curry”; in India they only refer to “curry” with non-Indians. Otherwise, it’s specific to the masala and area.
Sorrel and Hibiscus are two different species. In Jamaica, as a drink, it’s prepared the same way, BUT the Mexican Version is NOT the SAME as the Jamaican Sorrel / Hibiscus Drink. Aguade Jamaica is slightly sweet to sweet, but is not (typically) made with Spices like: Ginger, Clove, Cinnamon, Allspice (Pimento), Mace/Nutmeg. A lot of Jamaicans add rum to Sorrel, Irish Moss, etc.
Ginger/Sorrel...most Caribbean of drinks....just so natural...patties....coco breads...refreshing coconuts/jellies...and your fav...the one and only Doubles....with Shadon bene sauce...hot pepper sauce...just awesome!!!....beautiful as always...And also good to see Nate. too.. Thanks David....be safe....Peace.
Guyana was a British colony just like Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, St Kitts, Nevis, St Vincent and The Granadines, Cayman Islands, (current) Belize (Central America) Antigua, Monserrat and Bermuda, (current)Bahamas, etc. ABC Islands (Netherlands) Haiti, former French Colony, Puerto Rico and Dominica Republic, former Spain colonies.
Trinidad was occupied by the French, Spanish and British. So we have the influenced of all 3 with the British being the last. Got independence in 1962. Grateful to the British for being the last.
@@Aydin-Adam Yea thanks! I googled it. I am assuming its where the bus terminal is (was), that's why they kept mentioning the running for the buses. I never visited that mall. I believe there is a 24 hour Autozone in the front I may have visited that Autozone once.
@@craigslistbuslistingsofnor6494 Correct, as far as the bus terminal. I don't know about the Autozone. I live on the opposite side of Lauderhill and rarely go by that area. It's probably been at least a year since the last time I was around that way.
Charlie's had the best Cocobread 😂Smh, Lauderhill Mall is in Fort Lauderdale!!! I was there in the early off & on 1980's- 2004, when it was a Old ppl Retirement state! Hi David,Oh maan I cant believe you were so close to me and I didnt get the chance to meet you, hopefully i can one day, like the new look with the beard, is that patty crust light and crisp or more doughy? Joy's shrimp wontons are nice, I love it, Jamaican pepper is heat with flavor, many other peppers is just stinging, burning heat, Lallos is nice to hang out on friday, saturday night and they also have Keitus food truck there sometimes, Dutch Pot fry chicken with curry goat gravy is nice, their goat is good too and their mannish water is nice
Pity you invited that one! He did an injustice to Jamaica when he visited, by his negative portrayal of the downtown Kingston market, saying how scary it was and how scary the people were by the looks on their faces! The people were just trying to make a living selling their wares in the market! Why is he now in a Jamaican establishment if they’re so scary? He’s not genuine!
Jamaican needs to stop that universal attitude of I'm better then you and you're beneath me attitude. Alot of Jamaican restaurants and places seems to all have the same workers who seem like they hate their jobs working there. From the cooks to the lady at the register and the server. They all have this abrasive rude attitude. Like they might as well ask wtf you want to eat????. They don't never greet you or look you in your eyes as your speaking to them they looking away or acting as if they don't hear you. Just all Jamaican people in restaurants all seem the same they don't have any welcoming energy at all. I stand on everything I said too.
The black dude in the video with the white guy he is Haitian what do you expect from him you know they don't have no love for Jamaicans feeling is mutual..
