The Queen burnt the King's clothing by mistake. She asks Dol-seok, the royal head tailor, to make a set of clothing, but he says he cannot complete the work in a day. Then, Pan-soo, the Queen's servant, recommends Gong-jin, a renowned tailor in the capital, who makes the clothing in time. Both the Queen and the King likes his work, and Gong-jin becomes the royal tailor. Dol-seok doesn't like Gong-jin at first, but he gradually understands his principles and even envy his talent a little. The Prime Minister, who plots to replace the Queen, recommends the daughter of his ally as a concubine, and orders Dol-seok to make a splendid party clothing for her. The Queen saddens that she is in danger of being dethroned, and Gong-jin swears her to present a gorgeous dress that makes her stand out. Dol-seok tries to dissuade him, but Gong-jin is so determined.

When your husband tried to frame you then another man who has been loyal to you step in and sacrifice his life for you, that speaks volume
The King and Queen loves each other. That's a fact here. But the King's pride stops him from touching or continue loving the queen (she is a reminder of the cruelty of the late king to him). When he realized that the Queen is starting to show interest on the tailor. He set up a trap to dispose him and ruining his image to the queen (king is jealous).
The queen finally had a breakthrough moment when she said that both her and king are sad and pathetic people who couldn't let go of their obsession.
now i want yoonseok and shinhye to work together again because they have good chemistry but their story here is so friggin tragic
same, i really wished their characters worked it out in this movie because the king really did love his wife, but politics got in the way 😢
this scene yall...i had wondered why the king didnt just replace the queen since he clearly didn't care much for her but the scene where the queen calls him out - I could see it. They love each other & even though the king let his inferiority complex ruin his relationship with the queen and she in turn developed feelings for the tailor from years of neglect- at their core they love each other.
Unfortunately the love will probably turn to hate one day.
@@samshah7628 I agree😥😥 I'm pretty sure the execution of the tailor is the tipping point in the queen's love for the king. She may always love the king but now that love is tinged with her resentment of how his inferiority complex has twisted their relationship and the way he treats her and the people associated and around her.
The queen is his 1st love but she was almost got married with the king's older brother ...the older brother saw that the king likes her so he turned down the marriage...the king finally married with the queen but he had a bad relationship with his older brother n he hates the fact that he can get the queen bcoz his older bro gave it to him , n eversince that he always seen the queen as a thrift clothes that he loves but cant touch it...he wants to have her but his pride for always want 'new untouchable ' stuff, made him chosed to only marry her but never touch her

Jealousy is such a wretched and nasty thing. I have witnessed true jealousy many times. What I find is the face looking at you in such a way is never hidden completely. The face is contorted to a frightening degree revealing the old adage, “The heart is treacherous, who knows it.”

I love this another hit historical drama ..very touching story ..lead by famous actress Park shn hye and with the 2 famous actors ..very good chemistry they have done thier best ..i keep on following this drama..keep it up!!
I would like to add a theory as to why she was abandoned. For example the meat scene, where his older brother knew he wanted meat so he had him sit there and watch him chew then spit out the meat and give him the last one…as leftovers. And he also let him choose a wife from those who came for his selection…(hurts me to say this as they’re REAL people) as leftovers..that’s most likely why his interest went to zero not gradually but in an instant as she was a living symbol of his older brother’s cruelness to him.
I remember both scenes and I felt that way too. It's like here I don't like her you have her. It was very belittling and made him feel like she was just like the other trashy objects the brother gave him while pretending he was kind to him.
Although they both had feelings for one another that feeling of being made a fool and worthless won over and the bad guys used it to their advantage.

Unfortunately, that's how it works in the ancient time. 🥺 No matter what the reason is, lame or reasonable, if the royalty wants someone dead, no one could ever change that. But don't worry, every action has its consequences. If not in this life, hopefully on the other one. A life where all human will be treated equally.

One thing I don't understand is, why does the king acted this way towards the tailor? He started this whole thing by fucking every woman in the kingdom and even married one. He even attempted to replace the queen with that bitchy mistress of his. Why didn't he just divorce her or something and let her go to the tailor instead? He stopped loving her anyway.
Because he is a king and kings think everyone belongs to them
I think the King loves the Queen. That's the only explanation why he didn't dethrone her. It's just his pride and his hatred towards his brother that's hindering him from loving her completely.

This was cruel
the story is so predictable. The King is spoilt by his Kingmen so that they can exploit him however they want. The Queen is lonely without the King loving her so she falls for the other man who fills up that loneliness. The tailor who ends up loving the Queen is betrayed by his master who thinks that he will be replaced. And there is all sorts of planning and plotting going around. This is what I guessed I haven't watched it yet. need to see weather my huntch is correct

There are so many men who had many wives, mistresses and affairs, yet they don't have a smidge of blemish on their character. They are praised for being a stud. But when a woman in a loveless, neglected and abusive marriage, falls for someone who truly respects and loves her and considers him her husband in her heart, she is wrong. People like you think marriage is all about one day's ceremony. That a woman should continue to endure her husband's cruelty, abuse, negligence and affairs. That she should live for her parents, children, husband, everyone, but herself. I have seen people in traditional and religious households cheat on their wives and their wives can't do anything about it, since divorce is taboo.
