The concubine was so arrogant even before she was a “royal”. My opinion will always be, no matter how noble, a mistress will be a mistress and a wife will be a wife. He will never replace the queen; men will always want a pretty wife for show, a mistress for pleasure.
In some cases the wife can be evil and try to kill the mistress(when the mistress is nice)
This story was inspired by an actual King and Queen and although it is mostly fiction, during that period, or the reign of that specific King, it was not possible for a Concubine/Consort to replace the Queen. There would only be one Queen/official and she cannot be replaced by one of the other women in the harem. It was a law by the previous king to avoid Consorts and Concubines from trying to hurt or depose the queen in power struggles.
The King who this story was based on had only one Queen, although he had concubines and consorts. It was only after her death that he married and appointed a new Queen. And she was newly married into the Royal family and was not one of the women already in his 'harem'. Even records place his first Queen as his first official wife and second Queen as his second official wife. Neither of them had children and were said to be close to the children and grandchildren he had with his consorts.
