Hey there, I have a potential job offer in Barranquilla. How would you rate it as a place to live and work, and as a place to travel to other parts of Columbia. Thanks!
Hermano Yo cómo Barranquillero te doy las gracias por hacer estos magníficos videos mostrando nuestra bella ciudad la cual está progresando y mejorando cada día.. infinitas gracias
I'm from Barranquilla. I miss so much my city and everything on there. I loved how you enjoy my Quilla. I hope you continue showing the beautiful city and beautiful people ❤️ thanks
Hi Cesar, I agree with you. I enjoy living close to everything. However, for the people that like to live out in the mountains, I respect that too, but for me, I am a city guy for life.
I cook most of my meals at my apartment. I finally found my favorite protein powder here in colombia, and they deliver it to me to me no matter where i am in colombia.
Good eyes!! I am not sure which type are birds are nesting in there but now you have got my interest. What I love about Colombia a lot of people are really into wildlife and the average joe/juan has some education in it. I feel it is part of the love for the country. There are a lot of bird hiking trips here and they are really cool!
hi. great videos. i have a question maybe you can help me with? i want to move to colombia to learn spanish (i know none), is barranquilla a good place to do that? i've been to medellin, but i'd like to check out some other places if possible. any insight is appreciated.
Learning spanish is very important in Colombia. I am not sure how you pulled that off with the paisas but here in barranquilla you will need spanish. having an app may help, but it may become a pain in the butt for you.
I call it the "via country" area, just as a point of reference for taxi's to know where I want them to take me. However, the area to the best of my knowledge it is called Alto Prado.
@@MundoIorio Excellent. The reason I ask is because I have lived in Medellin for some years now and love it but there is a severe housing shortage and apartment rental prices are going through the roof. Digital Nomads gave all the apartment owners the idea of converting to Airbnb. A new national law went into effect giving digital nomads a two year visa if they can prove they have a job. They're flocking into Medellin by the thousands. The city is in a valley and there's no room to expand. I might want to move to Barranquilla because it's the only other city in Colombia that I think I might really like....if I can take the heat. Maybe I'll pop up for a look see. Thanks for your good information.
Hi, for some things it is the same, for other things the prices have gone up. If you do get an apartment in Barranquilla, a lot of them do not have hot water in the shower, which is a bummer.
In Colombia, you will not need a special driver. You have to be careful with drivers in Dominican Republic not Colombia. Just walk up to the lady at the exit, she will be behind a desk with locations behind her with pricing. Let her know where you are going , she will charge you, you can pay with your credit card. Then she will give you a receipt, and hand you to a taxi driver. It is organized and safe and awesome. They are organized, professional and trustworthy.
I use my T moblie while in Latin America. Free data, and 25 cents a minute to call USA. Just have everyone message you with Whatapp. you do not need to cell phones nor to change your sim card. However, If you like making local calls the sim card is the best.
Economy in dating? Isn't that what every lovely Colombian working woman is looking for? Give her a dollar for bus fare home, as you note. Hey, she would have had to pay for that, anyhow, so why give her those pesos? Remember: economy. This seems like a similar channel as Life with David, trying to live on-the-cheap as an American ex-pat remote working in Colombia. He's related that he gets by on about $1,400 per month. My research shows that the average Medellin income is a bit over USD $8,000 per year. It's probably safe to assume that most scenarios are such that multiple family members live together, so there would be combined incomes per household. It might also be safe to assume that this being the average, the income level graph has some smaller range of income that is higher than the average. I note this to provide context. So, a monthly outlay of $1,500 as an ex-pat would be $18,000 per year. What it doesn't account for inevitable healthcare costs (one has to buy into the national insurance, but my understanding is that means one has to be employed in the Colombian economy). A small, minimally furnished apartment; no car (or even a scooter....well, you will be taking a bus like your girlfriend...or paying for Uber-like transportation). Minimal costs available for entertainment and travel, seemingly. All-in-all, it seems like a very parsimonious, constrained lifestyle. Then again, if you make enough money to afford a nice apartment which your girlfriend might like staying at, had a car to get about, had the wherewithal to spend money on your girlfriend and yourself for some reasonable clothes, gifts, meals, vacations, etc., I guess things might be much nicer.
I love how your wheels are spinning. that is what it takes to enjoy living as an expat, no matter where you choose. please keep in touch. if we all brain storm, it gets easier for us together.

Great tips friend. Could you tell us products you enjoy using in Columbia that you can't find when you come home and such? And do you cook often?

I am going to do beach videos soon!

Can I get a Claro SIM card at the Barranquilla airport?
That is a good question. I use T moble so i do not switch a sim card. with that said, their is a large moble store on la 72. The will set you up.
What neighborhood is this? I couldn't make it out.
alto prado.
That is the Via Country Commercial I am walking around.
Great video, thanks! You live full time in colombia?
Thank you so much for your support. I live 180 days a year on Colombia.
I don't why they closed the Xtreme Go Kart place in the mall. Real shame
I sorry to hear that. It has been a touch time for many businesses.
Which website for finding furnished apartments?
You may want to check on line. If you find a good would, would you be kind enough to post it here so that I may use it?
1usd equals 4700 pesos

@@MundoIorio yes. Google translate was my best friend while in Medellin 😂
I shall return to Medellin. Thanks for the info
I heard that you could get an apartment for about $400 in a really good neighborhood.
Yes, you are correct.

I’m moving to Barranquilla in a few weeks. Do you have contact information? I’d like to connect with realtors.
This is the most confusing part. You will need to get out on foot and do your research. It is not like in the USA
The neighborhood is really interesting but why don't you give the name of the neighborhood?
Alto Prado

Hotel Carlton Buena Vista Barranquilla Colombia
The restaurant on the top floor is the best in Barranquilla.
What's the weather like?
The weather in Barranquilla is tropical. with that said, there is a nice breeze that comes in off the water which is refreshing.
