For those who wonder, in metric system : -450g coconut cream -180g white rhum -750g frozen pineaple -90g simple sirup -250ml of ice cubes from what i have tried : -you can skip the ice if all your ingredients are cold ( less than 15°C/59°F) -you can use an homemade coconut milk instead of coconut cream (mix 500ml of hot water with 125g of dried coconut) -if you decide to froze a fresh pineaple, you can use the peel to make pineaple sirup or tepache
Thanks for this recipe! This was the BEST pina colada I have ever made! This is a drink I LOVE. Now I have the book "How to Cocktail" ATK ROCKS! I used a 12oz wine glass for serving. PERFECTION! I also followed the recipe using ounces (weight measurement) from the book.
My guests have been very pleased with this recipe: 2 Plantation 3 Stars Rum 2 Pineapple Juice 1 Cream of Coconut 1/4 Lime Juice (adds acidity to the pineapple) 1/8 Orgeat (adds nuttiness to the coconut) 5 drops Saline (enhances the overall flavor)
I didn't see the channel name and said " this sound like America's Test Kitchen". Then I looked at the channel name. These guys are awesome. The next gathering we have is going to be Pina Colada theme. I will be using this recipe. Cheers!
This is a really great base recipe for a traditional piña colada. Once you get this recipe right, then you can add fresh coconut milk to create an even creamier, smooth cocktail.
I pour pineapple juice into ice cube trays. Then I don't need to add any ice at all. I do use Coco Lopez cream of coconut. It's the good stuff unlike the squeeze bottle which does seem like suntan lotion.
@@gdhuvfgjufschnjn5370 That is not coconut cream, that is cream of coconut. You can't control the sweetness because it's presweetened. That's the difference.
Interesting what happens to a floater when poured onto a frozen drink: Apparently, a good portion of it sinks. I don't think that this is a bad thing. This way, with your straw at the bottom of the glass, you'll get hit with blasts of rum both at the beginning and at the end of the drink.
That’s almost like I’ve been making my piña colada’s for the last 37 years. I don’t add simple syrup, it becomes a little too sweet for my taste. So I get to drink my very own picture of them. 🤣😂🤣🤪
Substituted frozen ripe kiwi for the pineapple, half and half for the coconut cream and skipped the rum. Splendida for the sugar syrup. No good. Terrible recipe. HA! Joke!

It’s went to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 this winter and it was the only thing I drank. It’s sooo good!
Yasssss!!!! Please let this be a series love drink recipes
I want one! Looked so good. I used to make piñas with condensed milk, coconut cream, rum and pineapple juice.

Summer is over, so the timing isn’t awesome. But this sounds like a great recipe!
Not if you're in Australia! Summer's just beginning over here
It was pretty swampy outside today. Piña Colada would be nice.
The frozen pineapple is a great tip. Thanks!
Now that's a drink I could make.
Coconut milk is equal parts coconut and water, not milk.
yeah! Piñas all year long. awesome vid.
These are so good even without the rum... (we don’t drink)
Marie Lawson , I too, was thinking how good this drink would be with out the rum. 😋 yum!!
Marie Lawson It is awesomely good with or without rum.

Oh hi mark!
Leigh Chapman indeed
luv that ATK is doing drinks - but what about apps(not on your phone), tapas or even if you wanna be really fancy amuse-bouche?
Thanks
I love it! 🇵🇷🌴💕
Love this drink 😻
I WANNA A PINA COLADA.

👍
What simple syrup?
Awe cute
This a Drink i like to try
Can this be a series?
Everything you said was like you were reading my mind. I'm not even that much into Piña Coladas but a man should know how to make them.
Would be cool if there were links to the coconut and rum that won!
Try House of Thai Coconut Cream and Flor de Cana rum
Coco lopez. Always coco lopez.

Looks great 👍😋
Coconut cream okay, which brand is the best 0:26
Goya or Coco Lopez is the better brands.

Hold on, you said cream of coconut is too sweet, but then you added simple syrup?
I think the idea is that you want to be able to control the sweetness to your liking,
which is easier to do with simple syrup.
Simple syrup.... all sugar !
Use Lopez coconut and any rum you like !
👌🏻
Where do we find this book?
So coconut plus pineapple plus rum plus simple syrup equals “three” ingredients?
yea, everyone has sugar and water
twist3d Yes I do and I also know how to count to four and when needed, up to five...
Hmm. They have a rum drink on page 151. Kismet!

Yummy 😋 I’m already tipsy 🥴
Try it without the simple syrup. Not needed in my opinion
Huh, I would've thought that coquito was the official drink of PR?
granted its more of a holiday drink....
Both are national drinks, one all year long and the other holidays
I wish I could drink this...but I’m allergic to pineapples 🍍
Looks delicious, taking antibiotics ='(
Looks good, pancreatitis, no alcohol, sorry
I'm betting you could sub a strong ginger ale for the rum.
There is such thing as a virgin Pina colada
If I found a “floater” in my drink I’d start throwing punches.
Brad says use Coco Lopez, so I use Coco Lopez
Coco Lopez or gtfo
I thought a floater was something else...
🍹🤤🍹
😋Yes Please!
👙👡😎

Say it with me PINYA COLADA, not PINA COLADA
Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne
Piña colada.
That stuff looked more like jizz than coconut, I nearly gagged.
This is the most pretentious yet yucky sounding recipe for a piña colada i have yet seen.
