Escape (The Piña Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes was the #1 song on the U.S. billboard charts the day I was born - so I was destined to do this drink here on the channel 🤔 How do you make your piña colada? 🍍 🥥
Your videos are quickly becoming my favorite Friday afternoon activity, looking forward to watch your channel continue to grow as quickly as it deserves! Cheers!
@@AndersErickson I don’t know if you drink blue Hawaiians but would you do them the same way stylistically with just different proportions of curaçao and rum? I like the emulsifier technique and have only really used mine for soups and sauces before!
My ABSOLUTE favorite beach cocktail and one that is dear to my heart as a Puerto Rican. It always transports me to the beaches of San Juan. Great job on yours and you couldn’t have worn a better shirt for this video. Haha! Cheers Anders! 🍍🥥🇵🇷
I made one of these for a friend last night and it was consumed with much joy. I made my own cream of coconut from your recipe (halved), so easy. Thanks Anders.
Fresh Juices Are The 'KEY'!! ... Cool Chilled Themed Glasses & 'Natural Garnishes'...Help With The 'Visual Appeal' As Well!..... that my friend...Makes A Happy Willing / Tipping Customer! Cheers Canadian Bartender!
I'm Puerto Rican and I approve this video. 😂💯🇵🇷 I was hoping to see a DonQ bottle instead but it's fine haha. Just found this channel a couple of days ago and I'm loving it so far ♥ Great job, love the enthusiasm!!
tried your 1/1/3 rum, coconut, piña mix. . i like it on the coconutty side though. . the 1/1/2. can't argue flavour though. . i love drinking the fresh coconut shakes from a greet coconut with a lime squeezed in and a double shot of malibu
Dang, watching this I want one of these RIGHT NOW.... Anders, you are the best! Maybe the history is relevant to calling it a "piña colada" but I'm pretty sure that as soon as people had rum, pineapple and coconut in the same place there was a drink like this. I mean, the first time someone tasted rum, they must have said, "get me a coconut and some pineapple."
Anders, I just discovered (and subscribed to) you. I have binged so many of your videos in the past couple of days. I was a huge home bartending enthusiast and you have reinvigorated that passion. Love how you present each cocktail from the history to the build and the sip. You are so fun to watch! Cheers!
I just made your version, minus the fresh pineapple juice(since someone ate it😂🥲), and it was amazing! For me, it tasted like it was missing something, so I added a float of Jamaican rum & it taste dangerous! Thank you so much for this! I love piña coladas!
Love the recipe Anders! I tried it using Plantation Pineapple rum rather than the Old McCoy that you suggested. Wow! That took the drink to another level. Perhaps next time I'll split it with the Pineapple and some OFTD to give the drink a little more kick!
I’m from Puerto Rico and very impressed with your version. I make a skinny version. Use coconut rum(this won’t substitute the rum only the cream of coconut), and use light pineapple juice.😛
Delish! I've made ice cubes out of the pineapple+coconut and used those in the blend. My grandfather's middle name was Anders (Swedish immigrant parents), but when he was in the Army, they changed his middle name to Arland. I have no idea why.
I've used this video as reference for pina coladas twice now and the second time was a total hit. Instead of a mesh strainer, I used a nut milk bag to filter the debris out of the pineapple juice. Clean up is definitely a little tougher but the process seemed faster and yielded way more juice with no pulp.
You definitely changed my mind on how good a Piña Colada could be a long time ago…I love doing a variation where I add a charred pineapple purée and black walnut bitters…and instead of blending it I just hard shake it and serve it in a coupe glass. Cheers sir.
This looks amazing. I actually tried making another version last night, before I found yours. I used bought juice but added lime to bring out some freshness. It worked but I've got to try your version now. Well, not right now, it's only 10am in the morning! Thanks for your great videos Anders.
Got to your channel by "accident" while searching for a good Old Fashioned recipe for some friends, after watching the "Noble Beast" I became a big fan! About the Piña colada, considering how often our pineapples here in the southern parts of the world are already very sweet, I add some lime juice to bring up the citric.
It's a great version, very pineapple forward. There's a big variation out there though. I also like the 2 oz of rum, 2oz of pineapple (optionally inclusive of 0.5 oz of lime), and 1-1.5oz of cream of coconut depending on taste. I avoid the blender myself if it's just me - a good long shake with ice, then poured over loosely crushed ice.
Thanks for these Anders. Your tiki drinks are single-handedly making my hot California summer more tolerable. Would love to see your version of a Painkiller. Cheers.
What a gorgeous and tasty cocktail. This is exciting because, believe it or not, I have never had a Pina Colada! Not sure why but I really want one after seeing how you make yours, Anders! I really like it that you made your own Cream of Coconut. I will try this as well! I can't wait!! Have a lovely weekend!
Thanks, Christine! I do hope you're able to try it. it's a different cocktail than so many of the classics, but it's a hard one not to like. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Especially with the homemade cream of coconut 😉
Great recipe!! Added a bit of a curveball to this one as well. I use a Cherry Flavored Rum from Doundrins Distilling Door County Cherries in a Rum made in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. Helps for those how want a little spark to the drink.
Cheers to Piña Colada Day! *And* World Rum Day today! Double holiday celebration ;) Thanks for mixing with us, Anders! 🥃✨ (We think using an aged, unsweetened rum in a piña is a savvy choice 😉. Like the pineapple-heavy tip, also -- we'll be mixing this up later!)
Hi, would it be possible to batch this cocktail and keep it in the fridge for a short time ? or maybe batch parts of it and combine as needed during the evening ? Thanks for the great video!
To have a nice presentation, I use a frozen pineapple as a cup for this cocktail. You just have to cut it with a pineapple slicer and put it in the freezer:) looks amazing🍍🍹
Perfect drink for a hot weather weekend. I’ll try and use the Goslings Dark Rum leftover from all the Dark ‘N Stormy’s I made last week. Thanks again Anders for the great tips and have a great 4th!
Oh man, I started watching your videos, to learn more about the Old Fashioned. Since then I have watched hours of your content and the list of stuff on my grocery list makes me look like an alkoholic when I will go to the shops on Saturday.

This recipe seems more fresh and summer party festive than ones I've tried in the past. Would love a follow up painkiller video. That has become my wife's favourite cocktail.
Yeah, I call that song the Cheaters Song. BUT I do love pina coladas. Just had 3 recently at the Bellagio pool in Vegas on vacation. Thanks for the lesson. I'll try it!
I work at a cheap-ass beach bar. I do a 3-count of both coconut and white rum, a splash of banana liquer, some pina mix and pineapple juice...but just a slishysplash of oj wakes it all up. Strongly recommend a dark rum floater.

How do you make your piña colada? 🍍 🥥
Hahah
White rum, fresh squeezed pineapple juice, coconut water*, maybe a little simple. Shaken and strained.
(* not cream of coconut)
I made it once with passionfruit (maracujá)
Good, but not as good as with pineapple :)
