I have never laughed out loud so much at a booktube video!!! @GemofBooks was so funny - and I loved the washing folding! Then your sketch with @kdbooks made me laugh so hard, it was amazing!! What an effort to put this together. An autumnal book that I love is This Close To Okay by Leesa Cross Smith - esp the audio. Actually now want to re-listen 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was tonnes of fun to make and I was so happy that everyone got involved. I haven't heard of that book before, but will have to look it up. Love how broad and off-the-beaten-Booktube-path your reading often is ❤️
This was such a fun video. What a great way to showcase the range of BookTube voices and reading interests and also to highlight all the different things that autumn connotes. Your flannel shirt also has an appropriate autumnal vibe. Many great reads here and you just moved Private Rites way up my TBR pile.
WOW I love not only this video concept of an autumn reading list that's based on vibes rather than setting, and also how you incorporated other booktubers! So many great books on this list!!
Bravo! This was such a fun video to watch. I mostly enjoyed the other booktubers messing with you - the 2* DMX movie rec and Spice Bomb were handled beautifully. Great responses and editing. More content like this please!
Ben, this is one of the funniest booktube videos that I have ever seen!! You guys are pure comedy 😂 There was something very cosy and soothing about watching you fold all that washing...lol.. love how you left half for Matt 😅 And yes, Pillars of the Earth is a masterpiece . My autumn recommendation would be Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Despite being a children's book, it is one of the spookiest things I have ever read. Plus, its really short so you can read it in an afternoon.( when youve finished your share of the laundry of course 😂😂😂)
I am so glad you hear you liked it! Hadn’t really filmed much humour before and turns out it is surprisingly hard to film when you’re just sitting on your own 😂 But so much fun to put together! You may be pleased to know Matt did, in the end, fold the rest of the washing 👏
From the Wreck is great. Love Jane Rawson's work. Great Recommendation. Also loved The Historian back in the day. Prophet Song (tick), David Mitchell...interesting.... Autumn is my favourite time of year where I live, it's goldilocks weather. I just have to wait another 6 months to get there. You poor things in the UK, Happy Reading
It has actually settled into a less-rain period the last few weeks, which has been nice! Even had bright skies on a few days 😮 Looking forward to From the Wreck when I can squeeze it into my reading plans!
You’ve stumbled on my secret plan to get people to watch twice 😈 Just kidding, didn’t realise I missed that one off. Fixed now - thanks for letting me know!
Sir that leisurely laundry folding was a mic drop! The perfectly timed ken follett just sitting there? Exceptional! Ive been meaning to read perfume for yrs and this is my sign to finally crack her open. This was so fun!
Loved the fun video! Ben, you MUST get to Perfume and Pillars of the Earth! I have enjoyed every book I've read from your suggestions, so I feel pretty convinced that you will like those 2 books because they're 2 of my very favorites. Cheers!
That was so much fun to watch! I read nonfiction all year, but autumn seems to be the perfect time for me to take a deep dive into certain topics. And with Nonfiction November just around the corner, I can't wait to learn some new stuff.
this is so good! i love the way you interact with our videos! i second love for trust exercise, and i’ve added a simple intervention and come closer to my list i wonder if the internet will ever see the full, uncut @KDbooks horror masterpiece…
Loved watching and thinking about all of your clips. Thank you so much for being a part of it ♥️ And *thrilled* to find another Trust Exercise fan. It’s so good!
This is a great idea for an episode!! A Simple Intervention: I've heard the blurb before (maybe on your channel?), and the description of the procedure sounds like how they described lobotomies back in the day. Chilling! I wonder if they intended the comparison? P.S. I love reading about and sometimes crafting perfume blends, and I've seen ads! Leaving aside my vague doubt about everything in this AI era, SpiceBomb is real. 😂 But I never would have thought to use it like Roro did. 🤣 Omg, you have the best RUclips friends! Thank you for sharing all those clips! Oh, and your laundry clip and reaction to the candle, it just gets better and better! Big smiles.
I saw the author of A Simple Intervention talk about it, and she said a few early readers made the lobotomy comparison and it surprised her! But she could see why and found other people’s interpretations interesting.
This is such a fun and thought provoking video. Maybe it's time for me to finally read Lapvona, aka spice bomb 😂 I added several of these books to my list, thank you.
I live in NZ now after growing up in the UK. It makes me feel so topsy turvy! I can't handle Christmas in Summer. Loved this and I've got other booktubers to gush over now. Thanks
I've just started The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk. Based on the subtitle, A Health Resort Horror Story, and with a picture of a skull on the cover, it could be a spooky season read. And by page 3, autumnal: "the summer is already long over and the first fallen leaves are lying on the ground." 🍂🎃🍂 P.S. I read Follett when Pillars of Earth was a trilogy, and only this year found out he'd done a prequel and a sequel. There's something cozy about knowing there's more if you want it. And I love that he was so extra!
I am so happy to see the Life on Mars reference! Truly delightful video all round. Thank you, Ben. PS I can recommend a gorgeous book of essays by Jane Hirshfield called Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry. My copy is worn from rereading. 👻😱
Headshot compared people to food a lot, I know that put people off, but I recognized how obsessed I was with food while involved in extreme sport. If you have to weigh daily and calorie restrict it warps reality. I'm glad such a niche book has gotten notice. If you want to try more essay collections Margaret Renkl writes nature essays with great fall vibes and art.
I'm tempted to go with the obvious and say Ali Smith's Autumn, but not even I have finished that one. So I'll stick with some Ray Bradbury: The October Country (short stories) or Something Wicked This Way Comes (novel). "Ill winds mark it's fearsome flight, And autumn branches creak with fright. The landscape turns to ashen crumbs, When something wicked this way comes..." [Off to do some laundry. Thank God I have a clothes dryer.]
I was tempted by the Ali Smith (and the Knausgaard) but they were too easy pickings 😅 We have a combo washer-dryer, but it doesn’t leave t-shirts with the nicest feel. So usually we use the dryer just to get rid of the excess moisture, then air-dry the rest of the way. (What a highly boring nugget of information, my apologies.)
A suggestion for Ben and his fans in the aftermath of the US election: the first story in this collection - I Am My Country by Turkish author Kenan Orhan. I'm sorry I don't own the book so I don't have the title of the story. I read it months ago and had a queasy feeling even then. All the stories are wonderful I think but that first one ....
GOOD BOY BEN IS SEXY !!! loved these picks and grouping them with your own!
and omg the end …. 💀💀💀
Immediately pinning this comment thank you king!!!
Gemma's commentary on laundry and The Count made me die, love it! And followed by your laundry vid? Brilliant.
I could feel her pain very clearly in her clip😂
This must have been a ton of work and it's one of the funnest Booktube videos I've ever watched. Awesome job
Ahhh that’s so nice of you to say. It was lots of fun to put together! Thanks so much ♥️
Hope you enjoy these autumn reading suggestions!

Autumn read suggestion: I'll go with The First Day of Spring (Nancy Tucker).
Fantastic work as always Ben! Thanks for the recommendation x
Thank you for your contribution mate! 👏
I am amazed that you managed to pull all of these clips into a coherent video - hats off to you 😂😂
Thank you for being a part of it! And may your washing be dry sooner than you think!
@@benreadsgood 😂😂😂 I swear I have washing trauma 😅
Ben, this cracked me up.🤣 Plus, I added many more to my TBR. Thanks and happy autumn!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! Tbh was a bit nervous trying out more humour but I think it worked out alright 😂

@benreadsgood oh thanks Ben that's very kind 😊 x
Hi, Ben. Its nice to discover your channel. I'm excited to be here. I will be checking through your other videos. What part of the UK are you in?
Thanks for watching, lovely to have you here! I live in Bristol, but I'm originally from Essex 😊
I loved this! And The Perfume is a perfect autumn read!
It sounds like such a great read for this time of year!
This was such a fun video. What a great way to showcase the range of BookTube voices and reading interests and also to highlight all the different things that autumn connotes. Your flannel shirt also has an appropriate autumnal vibe. Many great reads here and you just moved Private Rites way up my TBR pile.
Ahhh thank you, I tried to put on my most autumnal outfit so I’m glad you noticed 😅
So so so sooooo good!!! Loved this... You will now and forever more be known as "Good Boy Ben" in our household 😆
Channel soon to be renamed Ben Reads Good Boy 😂
this was so awesome ben!!! ty for putting this together and including me in this project!!!
Very grateful that you shared the beauty of New England with us!! 🙌🍂
WOW I love not only this video concept of an autumn reading list that's based on vibes rather than setting, and also how you incorporated other booktubers! So many great books on this list!!
It was SO FUN to get all these people together. They’re all great and came up with wonderful suggestions. Thank you for watching 🙏
The smoothness of bringing the Ken Follett out from beneath some laundry- you, sir, are a pro.
You can imagine how much lighter the basket was afterwards 😅
And he folds so nicely
What a clever idea for a video! And so many good suggestions. Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you found some good reading suggestions 😊
Bravo! This was such a fun video to watch. I mostly enjoyed the other booktubers messing with you - the 2* DMX movie rec and Spice Bomb were handled beautifully. Great responses and editing. More content like this please!
Haha it was a fun challenge to handle all the clips but I loved that there was so much variety! Thank you for watching 🙏

This was EVERYTHING! Well done, Ben.
Woohoo, thank you!! 🙏
This was SO much fun, Bob! Great idea and I’ve got a plethora of recommendations now!
I am Ben, but I am with Bob right now so I will pass on the well wishes 😂

Thank you for watching! So pleased you liked it.
A Simple Intervention sounds so interesting, but I had to loop back since it wasn't in the written list. Thanks, great video.
You’ve stumbled on my secret plan to get people to watch twice 😈
Just kidding, didn’t realise I missed that one off. Fixed now - thanks for letting me know!
Sir that leisurely laundry folding was a mic drop! The perfectly timed ken follett just sitting there? Exceptional! Ive been meaning to read perfume for yrs and this is my sign to finally crack her open. This was so fun!
Multitasking while filming is actually SO HARD 😂
So pleased the rec was relevant and thank you so much for being a part of this vid!!!
Loved the fun video! Ben, you MUST get to Perfume and Pillars of the Earth! I have enjoyed every book I've read from your suggestions, so I feel pretty convinced that you will like those 2 books because they're 2 of my very favorites. Cheers!
I have strong suspicions I will like them too! The TBR never gets smaller though 😂
That was so much fun to watch!
I read nonfiction all year, but autumn seems to be the perfect time for me to take a deep dive into certain topics. And with Nonfiction November just around the corner, I can't wait to learn some new stuff.
Such a great perspective towards learning new things! Hope you find some good ones this November 🤞
Great video! I think The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro and Stoner by John Williams are great autumn reads.
Love The Remains of the Day. So good. Stoner is one I really want to get to, and sounds great for autumn given he’s an academic!
Thank you for this top notch content, I’m on my re-watch👀
Glad you enjoyed! I admit I’ve watched it a few times myself 😅 (but then I always have to… checking for editing mistakes and upload errors!)
This is such a good video idea! And a success. I have lots of books to hunt in the next few days… it’s your fault.
My sincerest apologies. But I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😅
Ahahahaha so glad we got the discoking repping for us Aussies
The Kulest mascot
Gemma’s recommendation and your transition was epic. I loved the whole video.
Thank you Shelly! This was a lot of fun to plan and pull together ♥️
Just halfway through but I’m loving this video! Amazing work from everyone involved 🥰

I think we should all chip in and get Gem a dehumidifier for Xmas
Also (sorry, I can't stop myself from commenting before I finish a video!) I love your jacket
Thank you for watching!
I had mustered up my most autumnal outfit, so thank you for noticing 😅
From now on, this will be my favourite autumn BookTube video. ❤

It must be so odd to have so much frosty Christmas imagery in summer! Thank you so much for watching 🙏
such a good boy! 😂 great video, great recs, great acting in the scary movie!
Hollywood beckons 😂
@@benreadsgood I'll put in a good word!
What a fun video. Autumn for me is the time I feel like picking up the NIght Circus by Erin Morgenstern again.
A lot of people love that one! One day I shall read it (although that day may take me a few years to get to 😂)
@@benreadsgood I honestly am not sure if it would be the right book for you.
nailed it 😂 well done everyone, this was so frickin good x
Thank you!!! Everyone did such a good job 👏
Pillars of the Earth is an incredible read, please try it Ben.
I definitely will! It’s just a question of when 😅 But glad to hear it’s great.
Great video Ben, as always 🤩👌 When I have autumn on my mind, I always think about Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book 📖🍂🍁
Thanks for watching, and for the recommendation! 🙏

I really enjoyed Headshot. The commitment to the bit was impressive. Thank you for the suggestion!
Fun video! Added some new books to my TBRs!
Thanks so much for watching! 🙌

Pillars: One of the best books I've ever read. Perfume: One of the worst books I've ever read.
Headshot : Kindle. Private Rites: pre-ordered.
Not going to lie, “one of the worst books I’ve ever read” has me *more* intrigued.
I think you just won booktube managing to pull a sensible recommendation from the Kulev Serpent! 😂
When it came to me I was *so* happy 😂
Fun concept! Very interesting suggestions 🍁🍂🍄👻🎃
Was so fun to pull together!
Well, I guess spooky season is officially over (too short!), but I just started Salem's Lot. Besides being spooky, it starts off very autumnal. 🍂
I reckon spooky season can last as long as you like - The Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect bridge between now and the end of the year!
Fantastic video! 🍂🍁
Thank you, really appreciate you watching! 🙏
Great video!
Thank you so much! 🙌
Well, that was amazing. And gave me 4 new booktubers to subscribe to! 🍂🍁🎃
They’re all so great! Hope you enjoy their vids. Thanks for watching 🙏
The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk is my new favorite fall read: serial murder mysteries that occur on the first full moon of November
It’s on my bedside table!
Kulev book pairing!!!
Kulev probably humanity’s biggest threat right now
Best video ever! 😂
Thank you!!! So pleased with how it turned out.
Perfume is one of the only books I reread.
It sounds like such a banger - I need to get to it!
So good video😍
So pleased to hear you enjoyed it! ☺️
Currently sat here cackling at Ro’s perfume ad 😂
I still haven’t looked up if it’s real or not 😂
@@benreadsgood I like to think it’s not, and that he really did a lot of background work for this prompt.
@@benreadsgoodlol it is indeed real and is part of an extended line of spicebombs!
@@yenasung ok this fragrance knowledge makes me feel very validated picking Perfume for you!
Great video, am a bit concerned that Gemma will have any time to read with all that washing!
Haha her laundry pain really came through strong 😂
Have you read The Accidental Tourist?
I have not! The only Tyler I’ve read is Redhead by the Side of the Road.
I nearly spit out my coffee when you said “Prophet Song” 😂
(PS why didn’t you tell me my audio was so horrible 😢 tiny mic failed me)
I knew you’d love it 🥰
And I thought it sounded fine!
I read perfume like 30 years ago - highly recommend. Perfect for this season - creepy!
It’s one I’ve been wanting to get around to for so long!
I hear you. Story of my reading life! 😂 Enjoy your videos and recs so much. Thank you for being here!
Thank you for the suggestion - I'll have to look that up!
discoking 😭😭😭😭
