I've sent my Fold 3 back after a week, and went back to the Note 20 Ultra... I get done things fast on the N20U, the F3 was somehow always slow. The camera is also a bummer...
I like the flip by it being so compact and can slide it in your pocket.
Fold cool and fascinating will buy the Fold when the price drops more.

This is by far the most in depth 1 month later review I’ve seen with actual learnings from experience and diff use cases. So many others just regurgitate the same list of features that we all know of already would be said in a first impressions

I know most people like to go with the idea that you're not buying this phone for the front screen...but a huge reason I bought the Z Fold 3 is because of the front screen. I love the narrow screen, makes it so easy to complete all the normal phone functions. The phone opening to a tablet is just a luxury piece to the device that I am very happy to have. I use my Fold maybe 80% front screen and 20% inside screen. Honestly might be more like 85% front screen.

the front screen is so well executed. it's like the cocktail hour at a wedding before you go into the main ballroom.
The same with me, it's very easy to operate with one hand on front screen. I only use big screen when watching RUclips at night as I drain battery faster.
Some may say the folded big screen is unnecessary and they prefer a tablet. But to me, Samsung Z Fold 3 brings me the feeling it's worth the amount of money spent.
Do you feel the same when you buy lookalike phone variants every year but more expensive each year? Not sure.
If front (narrow) screen is that important, I think Sony Xperia 1 iii is a better choice with its ligher body, narrow screen and better cameras. Isn't it? For me, this fold is all about unfolding it.
@@srsgonu not really. I think you're missing the point. I didn't buy the phone JUST for a narrow screen, I bought it to use a narrow screen almost all the time but also have access to a tablet sized display at all times, even if I don't use it at all times. I have an Xperia 5ii that I have as a decoration piece. If someone purely wanted a narrow screen that had powerful specs and they didn't care about also having a big screen on the inside, I would definitely recommend an Xperia device. However, if they do want a narrow screen most times but want the ability to unfold that narrow screen into a big screen, the Fold is the way to go.
Edit: also everyone's needs in terms of cameras are different. I traded in my S21 Ultra which has better specs than my Fold 3 in all departments. Camera was top notch. But I don't care about that. In my usage for a smartphone camera the differences are negligible. If I am trying to get serious pictures I just use my dedicated Fuji X100V. If I was a smartphone photographer maybe I would care more about the cameras but I'm not so I don't. The cameras on the Fold 3 are still very good, they just aren't the absolute best. Can't get caught up in specs and reviews my friend.
Everyone has a use case , if it works for you thats great , but the narrow screen would be useless for me , its too narrow for largish hands , and a narrow display in landscape does cut your capabilities down , if it was possible to use the S pen on the front screen as well , that might change things a little , but you cannot.
Also the annoying crease and reflections on the main screen are another point of annoyance for me , add to that the question mark of whether the display is going to crack down the crease in a short period of time remains another question which only time will tell .
I guess if you change your phone often its not a big deal , but if you keep your phones for 3 or 4 years+ , it looks less of a good prospect .
This is the first foldable device that I'm *genuinely* excited to try out. They have strengthened the body and hinge, ironed out the bells and whistles and it honestly just looks so fun to use. Definitely considering getting it now! 👌🏻

The screen is made out of tissue. I would wait until they make the screen more durable
It's a great phone I love mine I've had it for a couple days now. Coming from iPhone, the z fold 3 cameras aren't that good only thing I'm disappointed about. I can't figure out why my phone loses so much battery at night when I'm not even using it

I have the Fold 3 since day 1. I would say I am team Z Fold since I have a desk job. I agree everything you said in the video. I haven't touched my iPad since I have the Fold 3. Plus, the phone is totally a head turner.

I've had my Z Fold 3 for a couple weeks now and I love it so much. I never want to go back to basic phones, the Z Fold 3 feels perfect for one hand and both handed use:)

Coming from the note 9 to the fold 3 is wonderful. And the stylus feel so natural with its improved length

I have had mine for a month now and I love it. I barely notice the crease in the middle of the screen and it is so nice being able to have a larger screen to do work on when on the move. I definitely think you need to see it in person before you buy though
Watching from my Z Fold 3. Loving it so far. It has taken a drop or two, but no scratches or cracks. Some of the apps going from cover screen to main screen can be an issue at times, but overall, exceptionally happy with my purchase and can't wait to see what this and the eventual Pixel Fold will do for this software (and the foldable space) moving forward.

The price ain't even bad if you own a tablet and phone, after I sold my old phone and tablet I made $1000 of my money back and now I only have to carry 1 device around instead of 2

I wasn't feeling the idea of the fold and flip at first, but after some time and seeing more videos, it seems really really cool. I could see myself getting one next year or two years from now when it's even better.
I don't even need to purchase the flip to know it makes no sense. You get the less durable screen caveat of the fold for less screen space? phones are small enough to fit in most pockets you don't need the flip. But I like the fold and I would buy it if I had the money. still kinda upset about the black bars but that can't really be helped given the aspect ratio. Summary

Fold = Functionality
@@D.HansonOfficial Yes and no , the fold does come with some serious compromises in my book.
As for the flip , it makes far more sense to me , ( being fashionable does not come in to it unless you are just in it for the bragging rights) as a small device solely that does not take up much room on your person , it is a no bother device you can put almost anywhere , it does not pretend to be a power users device , it is there for the convenience factor , and it excels in that use case .
The fold on the other hand is hamstrung by the fact to do any serious work you have to open it up every time.
Its not like a proper galaxy note where you have the S pen in a silo , and you do not even have to turn the device on to take a quick note on the slab screen , it just works .
Not to mention there are no moving parts on the conventional galaxy note , and you know it has the runs on the board for durability , i still use my note 9 to this day , and it is still in pristine condition and works well ..
@@D.HansonOfficial phones are getting bigger and your saying their small enough to fit into most pockets yeah for some of people who are tall or have big pockets but what about people who are small and can only get small pockets cause of their size

Another steller video, I do agree that folded mode its clunky and cumbersome to hold, the S-pen is the main reason I got this phone, having a big display to draw on makes a world of a difference, cant wait to see how this upgrades next year

💙u & your reviews Thao! I own this phone and I absolutely love it. I will say that the case matters though. I originally got the case that carries the pen, but the flap drove me nuts. It's always in the way. Folding it backwards and putting my index fingers under the fold made it more tolerable and easier to type and play games with my thumbs. But getting a Spigen case, made this phone 100x more enjoyable. I put an Ohsnap! grip on the back and use an app that allows reverse portrait mode. That way I can use the grip with my left hand and do the typing and navigating with my right hand. So much more comfortable and easier to use that way. The grip also works as a kickstand with the phone opened up in reverse landscape mode. I love having a tablet everywhere I go now! I use it more than my Tab S7.

Watching from my decked out Z Fold 3. I have to say that I absolutely ADORE this phone. The crease honestly doesn't bother me. The only thing I wish Samsung had improved on for this gen...is the storage of the z pen.
I have had my Z Fold 3 for two days and ease of use for smaller hands is sooo on point! Love!!🤩
i was used to using one hand on the 12 pro max when i switched over, so the weight felt lighter moving to the fold. Plus with swiping on the smaller screen makes it simplistic to text. I'm quite enjoying it. The battery life is something samsung hopefully improves on.

I just got mine and many of the things that have been negatively pointed out like Linus griping about the under screen camera etc. I am sorry to tell some of the content creators, most people will not care about that stuff. Not even the weight or thickness really deters from how useful this phone is. For instance most videos on most tablets do not play full screen, they have black bars, just like netflix, youtube etc. So the under screen camera little circle of pixels I never notice it. Even playing games you have to look for it and its not distracting enough to pull your attention away.
The crease issue I would not call it a crease, they are mis labeling it. A crease has a sharp edge to it, this is just a valley or depression. Under bright lights if it bounces off it, yes, its noticeable. I feel that could have been avoided by using a matte screen but however in my use so far, its not been noticeable because you tend to look at the screen head on, not tilted at an angle. The one thing it does not do, is interfere with swiping, or writing or dragging its just as responsive as if it was not there.
The speakers on this thing are fantastic. clear, deep enough base, it sounds better than my Tab 2 tablet by miles. Heck it sounds better than my Asus Zephyrus laptop.
You only need to think back to the past when smart phones were growing, phones like that dell 5" that people scoffed at its too big to be a phone, it looks rediculous, not phones are even larger than that one. So this foldable version, yes is around 270 grams so its about the weight of a phone and a half, but it so slim in its folded state, its easy to carry and use single handed. I find that its the best of both worlds. 120Hz screens both front and unfolded are fast, responsive and what can you say bad about amoled screens just so good.
How well it holds up over time will be the thing to look at. In any case good review, great product.
The fact that you offered to bring them home dinner so they didn't have to cook makes you a winner in my book and I'll sub 😉

Good take! I love the ZF3 but I've probably spent more time re-configuring home screens or trying different launchers just to see what works. It's only coming up on 3 weeks!

Team Fold. Coming from a Note user I can't see going back to regular phone now. Once they enlarge the cover display and find away to get the pen inside the Fold I'll never go back. ( Even though half of that was my dream)
This phone is amazing for productivity & media content consumption, I agree cameras aren't the best , but I don't mind them tbh. This phone's screen is worth the trade off.

Great 1 month review! A couple tips - There's plenty of spen cases coming out for it now, so you're no longer stuck with samsung spen cover case. Also, you can use DEX wirelessly. You just have to plug in via USB-C once like you showed in the video, then switch to wireless after that. Most of the time you can just start out in wireless DEX mode after that, but it still requests the cable once in a while. Maybe they'll get that sorted out in a future update.
i use dex wirelessly using smartview connected to my roku on my fold3. other than a little mouse lag occasionally, works great and connected every time no problems. never had to connect charge chord to work, just change mirror settings in roku menu for iniitial set up.
Can I please ask what is the setup on the full screen? ie agenda for the day on the left, Calendar, screen time etc on the right. Are those Samsungs own or 3rd party? Thank for the review.

Team Z Flip all the way!!! have the Z Flip 3 and I LOVE it! However listening to you talk about the pros from the Z Fold 3 made me a little jealous for a minute, but I wouldn't be able to handle the size of the Fold. I love being about to fit my Flip phone in my wristlet, pocket or bra. Plus, it has so many fun cool features, I'm sticking with the Flip!

Watch out for the persistent toolbar (sidebar) as that may cause burn-in over time. This also applies to the DeX mode where there is a fixed shelf. I am surprised Samsung has adopted these.
how do you think of it? Is it great and worth enough to upgrade from note 9 to flip 3? Because Im currently considereing flip 3/fold 3/ note 20 for the upgrade but im afraid that the fold/flip are not good enough to replace my samsung notes line experience
Great review. I have to admit I was tempted when they came out with this phone to upgrade from my Note 10+. After playing with it in the store, I was almost completely sold. Then I started seeing how weak the battery life was and there just wasn't a good way to bring the pen along. The Samsung pen case with the floppy outer flap is terrible and makes the phone too large. I decided it had just too many negatives for such an extremely expensive phone and decided to hold off until Samsung releases something I'm genuinely more interested in. The folding screen thing is cool, but not when it has a crease, subpar battery life, no dust protection, no SD card slot, and an average camera.
I also have a Note 10+ and was considering getting this. Maybe I'll wait for the next version. Wanted this device mainly for gaming lol.
I'm in that position now where in I can get a chance to upgrade from my unit from note10+ ... still undecided if I will go for zfold 3 or ip13promax
I also have the 10+ and was thinking of upgrading to this but I think the Note 20 Ultra or MS Duo 2 might be next for me 😆
Hold off guys i went from a s21 ultra to z fold 3 beautiful phone i want to love it but i cant the camera is a let down and battery gets eaten up to quick and i barely used it when i use it then it drains fast am not to bothered about how heavy or thick it is id hold off if i was u and wait for the z fold 4. For such a expensive phone it has a few flaws
@@road2freedom321 Hopefully Galaxy S22 Ultra will have the included sPen like leaks have shown. That will likely be what I upgrade too since it's basically a Note 22. Probably won't even consider a folding phone for several more generations when they work out some of the issues.

I'm really tempted to buy it this time but, i think i still wait for the Fold 4, or MAYBE i hope so another Note phone.
The only thing i hope, is that the Fold 4 will have a bigger battery, sd-card slot, and a built-in s-pen, i think the s-pen doesn't need to be as big as the current one, then probably
they could make it fit it inside like the note series. If they make this improvements then i will not mind to spend even 2K.

Going from to a Z fold 3 from a note 20 ultra I'll never go back to a regular phone again it's a beast . Aspect ratio changes every app to work very nicely I'm getting 6 to 7 hours on screen time plus the pen . On my Z fold 3 Dex works wireless on mine all you have do touch under the symbol details to launch wireless.

@@Bladebreak3r Sorry must have been tired writing that since had 2 updates they added 4gb more ram virtual memory and other improvements. The battery life is very good now last all day now.

Well, I love my Flip 3, but I get it on this one. When I see videos like this, it makes me wish I'd overspent even more. 😉 Great video.
LOVE the narrow cover display on the fold 3.
1. The only flagship level phone with one handed typing.
2. Great to hold onto.
3. Makes the large internal screen worth it.
4. Help send out a word to Samsung.
Though there's a need to optimise the aspect ratios.
First of all, you are totally right, it's a very interresting Design and very impressive technology but let's face it, it's main feature has little "real" advantage over a conventional phone with a big screen. For me the Note 20 Ultra will stay in my pocket until there is a new Note. I can't point out why... maybe it's the SD Card Slot or the better Camera or the build in S-Pen... I just find the Note the more complete package. It also seems more mature and will probably stay with me for many years without me feeling like having an older phone. It's just such an elegant Design compared to the "in your face" foldables.
Seems like a big if, there are no current plans for any more notes.
@@FrankFurther I don't think so actually. Not only because Samsung never said that they discontinoue the Note Series but also because of the big fan base. I really expect a new Note to be released next year, I just fear that it could loose features again (like SD card support...) but let's wait and see what the future brings.

I haven’t had a Samsung since the note 9 and I’ve been using iPhones as my daily driver for a few years now. After watching many RUclips videos and reading many reviews I ended up purchasing this phone. I’ve absolutely been enjoying this device.
Fair review. I tried the Fold 3 for 2 weeks and ended up returning it and keeping the S21 Ultra. The Fold is an amazing device, but for me, it's not a practical device. Folding and unfolding was fun in the beginning, buy after a while, it gets old. The crease still bothers me when I see it. The trade offs are not worth it for me. Buy yes, if you want the attention and bragging rights, this is the device for you.

First time trying it last week, I love it already :) though sadly the S-Pen fold edition is now more of an afterthought rather than an integration of it's best Note flagships because it actually bugs me when drawing and losing control a bit when I hit the crease plus, there's a bit of a parallax effect when the pen is tilted a bit despite using Wacom's EMR pen tech, though it's still really cool in its own way :) in a nutshell, it's really cool just don't get the S-Pen fold edition

Thanks for the awesome video,I really loved foldable and thank Samsung for pioneering foldable but my z fold 2 front screen is really hard to use no matter single or double handed especially during daily texting, I really hope next gen will come with a wider front screen and improvements on aspect ratio as so many pic and video become either too big or too small in the main screen
i have the Fold 2 and you right the wow factor hit hard with this phone specially with the iphone users.
I’m still a little disappointed about most apps not being optimized for this form factor when the phone is opened into tablet mode. I held off on my pre order due to the lack of color selection also. Samsung always disappoints with a poor color selection. I wanted the green one but it was only available in 256. , I say go big or go home! The s pen case, based on the reviews I’ve seen isn’t practical. The folds will never be a device known for its durability and with people complaining about how heavy it is I highly doubt it will get a wider form factor which is what I think will allow for a built in S pen as well as a better camera module. One more in line with the ultra series phones.
Maybe you should wait for Z fold 4 maybe bigger with built-in pen 🖊
@@no_picture for me it is because my fold 2 is black. I wanted it in a different color this year. Black is the only one available with 512GB. Black is just boring. They even took away the option to customize the hinge. I don’t want what everyone else has. So yea color is a deal breaker for me. When I say certain apps aren’t optimized I mean like Instagram and Any other app that you can’t access in full screen when the fold is open.
@@Schrsmnymkr 512Gb is irrelevant in a device which A) can wirelessly stream 587MB per second.
B) Is usb 3.1 capable though the reversible C port.
@@absolutium for you perhaps but I don’t like streaming. I prefer to have my music and other media downloaded so that even if my connection is bad I can still access those things. You can’t stream anything if your connection is cut off from being in a subway or in the wilderness.
@@Schrsmnymkr Thats obvious but there is not one time where you access even 20GB of the content per hour.. so a 15 ride in the subway would never be an issue.. you just have Fear of Missing Out.

I’m really hoping Samsung makes the outer screen wider like a normal phone which would also in turn allow there to be space for an s-pen silo and larger battery, solves 3 minor gripes with the current iteration
When you open and use inside screen, does the keyboard fill the entire bottom? Or is it compressed? Thanks
This phone is for certain people. I just want a phone that’s not bulky in my pocket, security updates and can do the basics. I have the iPhone 12….lol

I use the zfold3 for personal use and I absolutely LOVE it. But I use a s22 ultra for business use because the battery is insane on the s22. And just like all of samsung displays (best In the business) the s22 ultra display is absolutely insane!!
Just purchased mine yesterday. I'm in love. The camera is pretty good but I purchased it more I'm not using it very much until I get my Spigen case. With 2 kiddos, no touchy touchy until there's a casey casey.

I got the fold 2 and upgraded to the fold 3 cause of Samsung's awesome promos. The crease is something you get used to after using it for a while. I agree the phone does take some getting used to, but man once your in it'll he hard to go back to a regular smartphone.
