It's funny because ARMY's were very accepting of this news and knew it didn't mean forever. Meanwhile journalists were misinterpreting the entire situation, as they always do. BTS is not like anyone else, and as an ARMY of six years, they never break their promises.
Ikr and it's bcz we know BTS more than the general public and media, bcz they've been honest to us it's easier to just relax and lay back while enjoying their solo music (but that doesn't mean I don't miss them together tho 😭👐)
also cause we got to know it from the members before the announcement....i love how EVERY TIME before a major announcement at least one of the members comes online and let us know by themselves
The majority of idol fans and followers know it's not forever. We're used to it at this point. It's just how things work over there. Western media and journalists have the internet at their disposal yet most of them chose not to do any research which was just sad. And it wasn't anything complicated to look up either. I know people who have no interest in kpop do a quick search to understand the situation. It truly was funny.
Media always puts us in a bad light, because despite how diverse ARMY is, every single one of us is thrown in the category of “obsessed boy-crazy teenage girls” because that’s the expectation of people who like boy groups. Meanwhile one of my biggest ARMY friends is a nurse who is almost 30 years old. It’s honestly routed in misogyny against stereotypical things that young girls tend to like. I guarantee they don’t make the same assumptions for things like sports being obnoxious boy things.
That’s true many articles was saying BTS disbanded which they never said the media tried to tarnish them. and other people was too but all they said was they was taking a break and going to be apart for a while they didn’t say there careers had ended typical media they hype up celebrity’s too much and make something so small into a big deal. Jungkook had to come on Weverse to tell the fans it wasn’t true and Rm made a post about it on Weverse saying it too. The media misunderstood .
As someone that had been a big fan of western groups before BTS, including 1D, I actually wasn't worried either. It was strange. Every time a western band would say they were taking a break or going on hiatus, I would be like "Yeah right, we won't be seeing them again anytime soon". Even with 1D I was skeptical. But not with BTS. I never doubted what they said for a second. It's because we have seen them keep their promises over and over. Also it helps that they have more time invested as a group than those other groups, almost 10 years now, if you don't count the years they spent together before their debut. Then there is the fact that they willingly had chosen to be in a group, rather than being forced into one. Also it's how the way kpop groups are seen in korea in itself. How they are given higher acclaim, for the most part, than a lot of soloist. Finally the fact that they are literally being forced to stop activities to do their military service, rather than this actually being their own decision. The list can continue but I think I stated the gist of it. When BTS said hiatus, my immediate thought was "Ok, they are just resting and doing their military service. We will see them again soon," not, "Oh shit. There goes another one". P.S. To clarify, when I talk about western groups I'm more referring to boy/girl groups or pop groups, not necessarily rock bands. As a general track record, boy/girl groups tend to last around five years or so (there are a few exceptions, and girl groups seem to last a little longer). However, many big rock bands tend to last much longer. I'm still a big fan of a lot of those, Panic at the Disco, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, etc. It's the western pop groups I have a hard time believing in now.
i dont care what ever anyone says about "faking in front of a camera", If you watch any content from the boys like RUN BTS or anything else, you can feel and sense the love and connection they have. That cannot be faked.
For me the biggest indication is they can drink together. If you had a bunch of people who secretly hated each other, you would not give them alcohol and stick them in a dinner party. BTS get tipsy together on a semi regular basis and they just get more affectionate and laugh about weird sh*t they have gotten up to.
If they were faking it for the cameras they wouldn't hang out with each other so much in their supposed hiatus. If it was any other group, they would try to be as solo as possible, but not BTS because they genuinely like each other.
Also wanted to add that you genuinely do see them fight...and, most importantly, they make-up. We've seen this many times. That's how you know people are close, they fight and make-up.
this is why BTS and Seventeen are my favorote kpop groups. you can literally feel their bond through the screen, you can see they enjoy performing together on stage, and as another person they said, they regularly get tipsy or drunk together, because they trust each other so much. though seventeen hasn't had a group hiatus yet, whenever a member has a hiatus from different reasons, and the only other group I've seen this is BTS, they try to include that member in different ways in whatever they do, because seventeen isn't seventeen without all 13 members and bts isn't bts without all 7 members
Yeah, but she’s way too biased towards one group. If she wants to get a job in broadcasting, she needs to start looking at things from a neutral perspective.
I don’t think bias is accurate or relevant in this case. These days most broadcasters are truly biased to their stations point of view and make minor attempts to be neutral instead give opinions as news. Boracity is making excellent video essays using data and other direct evidence from articles and videos to support statements. That is journalistic integrity and would carry over to other topics she might investigate too. 👏🏼🫰🏼
@@homura_chan_ Something can be called biased only when someone is lying or hyping about something more than what it actually is.. Not when someone speaks facts. Here she speaks facts and have proofs and analytics to back it up.

As someone who has supported 1D since 2012, let's be real, they lied to us. A LOT. BTS has never broken any of their promises until this day. I'm not worried at all about BTS coming back because I truly trust them. They're both too different.
@@KARIAP they said they were going on a hiatus and coming back, but they never did, and it seemed like they were actually never planning to come back. So the general public now interprets the word hiatus as "we're actually disbanding but we don't want to disappoint you"
@@KARIAP to start with, they always faked the fact that they were truly happy as a group, the relationships they had with each other were pretty forced too, another lie. When Zayn left, was after months of him looking sick in interviews, being even more quiet than usual and losing a lot of weight, still, he was touring and promoting FOUR, first it was said he was leaving the tour for a while, then, they announced he was leaving the group, another lie. Louis promised they will be back in 18 months, even when he knew there was no contract at all. Another lie. The list is long. However, they were in a pretty bad place, the management was shit, the guys were exploited, five albums in five years, always on tour, the shows were almost every two days, no time to rest at all and if they lied was because they had to, i suppose they were grateful for directioners, but never truly felt the bond I feel with bangtan, and I'm sure it's related to the way they had no control over their careers, no creative freedom at all. That's why i'm happy with the way things turned out at the end.
@@moonchild.99_ Yeah I'm not even mad at 1D for lying to us, to be honest. They were mistreated terribly, and still so young (Harry was 16 when they debuted, wasn't he?). I'm just sad they dont speak to each other anymore, I think having friends who understand what the other one was going through would be good for all of them. Everyone says the K-Pop industry is terrible but 1D as a western group was mishandled and mistreated.
True, people literally shit themselves if a group says their going on hiatus because sometimes it just means they are disbanding, also I fucking love your username
Another big problem is “western” music media can’t seem to comprehend that BTS are their own unique phenomenon. You can’t compare them to previous groups, not Anglo-American groups or even other K-pop groups, because they’re something new entirely. The combination of their backstory, lifestyles as brothers, and their international success is unprecedented. They’re also totally upfront and don’t hold back what they’re feeling, going back to their early vlogs, they tell us EVERYTHING, even their pimples and bathroom troubles 😂 And it can be a good thing to have a break to work with others and explore other styles, something different, it can lead to developing fresh ideas to bring back with them when they all come back together again as a full group.
Well, I don't think they share *everything* with us, there are probably a lot of things going on in their personal lives they're not allowed to share or may not feel comfortable sharing with millions of people. But they certainly share A LOT with us and much more than other artists.
Like when Jungkook's pants ripped on stage and he told the fans about it during TMI 😂 because he felt a breeze lol and Jin and RM tried to tell him to stop. But the little bunny 🐰 is like why there family
The members of One Direction never had the intention of wanting to be in a group. They all auditioned on X-Factor to be soloists and were rejected. The compromise was if they wanted to be on the show they would have to do it as a group. You are taking a big risk by asking 5 young good looking guys who are complete strangers who sing well to make a group and just hope they are successful and can get along. I mean what 16 year old wouldn't have accepted that opportunity, but I think even when One Direction was formed they never intended it to be a long term deal. They used the group as a launching pad to be what they wanted to be in the first place- soloists. When the members of BTS joined Bighit they knew what they were signing up for, it was to be in a group so it was not something they were forced into. Plus when it comes to kpop it's no secret groups are more successful than soloists where here in the US and in the UK it's the opposite for music artists, soloists are more popular than groups. Notice how so many many members of boy bands weren't taken seriously as music artists until they went solo. I'm really hoping with their solo work BTS reach even a larger audience who are are hesitant to like or check out BTS music due to the "kpop boy band" stigma that surrounds them. I'm already seeing people reacting and liking their music as soloists unaware they are a member of BTS. And BTS has proven you can be in a group and also show your individuality as a soloist. Yes, it's a lot of work to do both but it's possible. I don't think there will ever be a day where BTS is no longer a group. They make time to rest, start families, do their own projects but I don't think they will ever officially break up. Because BTS is more than just a music group, they are a family.
I agree! Shinhwa is a Great K pop group and this March 25th will be their 25th group anniversary! Same six members that started back in 1998. Some are married, have children and so on...✌💜
@@our7boys773 I wasn’t not getting mad at you you meant 1d right 1d always looked false there friendship looked staged for tv as well they lied to many fans they should of told the truth instead of putting on an act.
One Direction was a work group. The way BTS trained, lived and worked together made them a family. Anyone watching any of their content, outside of music videos, can see how close they are. Jin makes sure they're all fed, RM makes sure they're all on track, etc. Each member has their place in their little family. Western media isn't used to that, so don't understand it.
BTS members have often talked about how different they are as individuals while still getting along. So they have that bond and that team spirit but they also have different passions, hobbys & preferences.
Yes as we already know how good their previous solo's are from their individual solo's on BTS albums. Each member is so talented we are all extremely lucky they became BTS.
@@whatisilyionlyknowipurpleyou that’s the thought that I had, I thought it was pretty specific for them to say “their first anthology” in the official statement about the album by Bighit! Who knows, the best is yet to come
I guess Hollywood and the Western mainstream media is sick of them by now. For them, their success is expected to be temporary, like shiny toys to play with and throw away as soon as possible. BTS doesn't deserve to be treated this way. Let's prove them wrong, ARMY! 2025 will be a big year for us.
Being both an army and directioner, I love both groups. But when it comes to group dynamics and the connection with fans, BTS tick the boxes. When 1D announced their hiatus, many fans (even now) still have hope that they will come back. BTS continue to comfort us and let us know they aren’t going anywhere, and their ‘hiatus’ is for a reason - military service and solo projects. It’s just frustrating seeing everyone say ‘BTS are gonna be like 1D and disband’ . 1D wanted to have solo careers and cut ties with S*mon and Syco. BTS are fulfilling their service and taking a well rested break. Both groups were/are in very different situations.
1d and bts are so different that you've gotta be kind dumb to not see the different in their dynamic as a group. im so confused whenever i see anyone saying bts are going to be like 1d because the reason that they disbanded was such a specific situation that anyone assuming that anyone saying hiatus = disbandment has got to have never seen any content from either group because it takes one minute of research to see that their reasons for hiatus werent even close. i hate how these 'credible sources' get away with misinformation or i guess just straight up lying to our faces and not face any consequences because bts's fandom and also 1d's, arent taken seriously in the mainstream media. 😓
Agreed! And when you consider that the guys from 1D had originally auditioned as soloists on X-Factor, not expecting to be placed in a group, you can understand why some of them would eventually want to pursue their original dream of being a solo artist. Their story is just way different from BTS'.
the only reason i’m still a little scared all these months later is cause i did used to like 1d back in the day but didn’t follow their band activities or interviews or wtv so i didn’t know what they were like outside of their music and mvs. i heard they went on a hiatus and then they never came back, and that’s where the fear comes from. I know bts is so different and thats incredibly comforting but its kinda like a relationship where i’ve been hurt once and even tho i KNOW the next one wont hurt me as much or at all, there’s still that underlying caution because of the past. it also stings a little cause i’ve been with them since 2018 so like i havent gone this long without them.
I always trust what BTS members share with us, so I always knew this "hiatus" was not equivalent to what occurred with One Direction. Although I was never attuned to what was happening with that group, this video essay highlights a lot for me that makes me feel some empathy for them (but especially for their fans); the group's origins and experiences are not at all the same as BTS. The clear difference in the characteristics of their leadership and collectivistic work culture can't be dismissed either. Thank you for another informative video essay!

When Yoongi and Jimin were talking in the episode of Suchwita they were so eager for 2025 to arrive , Jin was so emotional when he last sang on stage The Astronaut , J-Hope at Loopalooza was like I need my brothers here , Yoongi crying at his concert cause they are 7 . Jungkook and Taehyung miss their brothers too. It’s clear they have a strong bond I feel like if celebrating the anniversary is really their way to keep being present as well! They’ll be back! 💜
the way that 1D tainted the word hiatus isn’t even something that I KNEW about until the morning of the festa dinner 😭 as someone who never really payed attention to 1D, but was a fan of other western acts who did actually come back from hiatuses, the bts break news itself didn’t impact me negatively until I saw others speaking of it from the one direction lense .. the damage 😭 another great video!!
@@boracitymagazine the 1D hiatus was a mess, so many high profile people were talking about it back then, and it was sad how slowly we realized they weren't coming back, it felt like the worst betrayal ever. The real emotional damage lol it's funny to think people who didn't follow the western pop culture weren't aware of this situation.
@@boracitymagazine yeah! it was really interesting to see. I think for me it was just that I was in my own bubble of news for so long, and was generally “lucky” With the artists I was into, I guess? When that day hit I knew media was going to twist it, but I learned where that specific mindset came from. It was like a history lesson 😭
I didn't follow 1D at all, and I didn't know about the hiatus thing, but to me a hiatus generally means the band is going silent for any variety of reasons and things *will not* be the same if or when they do come back. I think I got that from Def Leppard, who had to go on hiatus several times in their stellar career, for absolutely agonizing reasons.
Before BTS started, I was into 1D and genuinely enjoyed their music. However, as they were not putting out content, I started listening to Kpop and BTS popped up. They were my new faves and brought a lot to the table. As for 1D, their music was starting to become generic and boring. It’s entertaining how the western public don’t know the difference between hiatus and disbanding. I’m always going to listen to BTS and know that they’re going to come back home. ♡
Oh I think most know what the two word really mean it's just USA media who don't appear to know what the two words mean or pretend to believe they mean the same thing so they can sell News. Either that or they are just uneducated idiots.
I also have a hard time listen ping to 1D now. I still listen to it occasionally but after finding BTS it did seem a lot more generic and not as catchy. I felt so bad about it too.
Me too! In fact, a One Direction tumblr account I followed started posting all these gifs of BTS and one day I was like right who are these guys I have to know and this was right before DNA comeback and I've never looked back haha
The one thing I really hate is when people say if they aren't breaking up why were they crying during festa? Ending an era is sometimes sad and scary. They were also worried they would be letting down their fans. Crying does not equal breaking up and there is nothing wrong with crying either. The one thing BTS has that makes them different from most people in the industry is honesty. BTS always drop big news before the press and it usually comes directly from the members. They could've released a press statement that said we're going on a hiatus instead of discussing it during festa. They want to show fans their perspective and in this case give the fans security. It was obvious to most fans that the word hiatus isn't code for break up it was just a hiatus. The devil is in the details and unfortunately for the people who want BTS gone won't be getting their wish.
Thank you, excellent description of their pause, only ARMY will understand how precious they are, and we understand that they have responsibility with their country even though is painful for us(Army) we have to support them and be with them. They promised to not leave us , and we have to believe in them and wait, and stop listening the antis.. thank you for the great video.. Bangtan Forever 💜💪🏻
IMO, the biggest difference between 1D and BTS is that one group seems to have genuine love for each other as a family (rather than just tolerance for each other as co-workers) while the other...uh, not so much. And that love is exactly what's kept BTS together, kept them going and also what makes Army so loyal and invested in the members both individually and collectively.
I honestly don't pay attention to Western media, ( with very few exceptions). If it doesn't come directly from the boys I try to avoid it because of how much it will upset me. As soon as I started to like them, they announced about theirs a few weeks later. I was like.. here we go again. 💔 When I did some research and watched some of their videos, it didn’t felt like they were gone forever, they just need the hiatus considering what they have done for so long and what they have been through. As always a well thought out video and analysis. My daughter loved 1D and supports their solo careers. She became an Army around 2016. True. Being a directioner since 2013 nd an army since 2018, I just know that there is so much differnce in everything from their relationship with their fans to relationship among themselves. So I don't understand why the western world is even comparing them.

As someone who was a 1D fan from 2012 I was extremely heartbroken when they just never came back but as a new ARMY i have no doubt of the love the group has for their fans and that they wouldn't make the promise unless it was true. I am so excited to support them individually and together once they return. Cheers to my first year in ARMY and to learning korean for their future concerts 🤍
I have never known about One Direction. But i know BTS. They have never broken a promise and the bond between the members is as real as it gets. Also, they have a very close relationship with the fans, nothing like the world has ever seen. So i believe they will be back when they say they will be. Their hiatus had a big impact on the fans and on the company, so they wouldn’t have thrown around words casually. They are highly intelligent and know what they are doing. They knew about the upcoming break since long before they disclosed to us. And it looks like they have it all planned out well in the future. I also think the western media is also kind of hoping that they would take an indefinite hiatus or disband coz they clearly dont like the fact that BTS has taken over the western music industry. These “stories” that they create are just misleading.
This!! Also the reason that 1D disbanded was because they were forced to be in a group despite wanting to be solo artists but all of the members who were young and vulnerable at the time of formation probably didnt see any other choice in being part of the music industry other than the opportunity to join the group. With bts its incredibly different. We have clips from before their debut that proved that they did truly care about being in bts and working as a group, we have documentaries of their struggles during their tour and how they were able to resolve their issues in the end, even stories from content they've recorded that the members themselves have decided to share with us, the members of bts genuinely want to be in a group and love where they are and it isnt hard to see. 1d was in a completely different situation where they didnt want to be in a group and were unhappy with where they were cause it was never something they wanted from the start. the two groups cant even be compared when we talk about a future disbandment.
Oh yes I was forgetting to factor in the jealousy issue eg the fact that the USA especially don't like that BTS are a Korean 'Kpop/boy band' that's walking all over the USA music industry. I think racism also comes into it.
Exactly....they realllyyyyy want them to disband....😂👏🏻... ...... they truly don't want them to succeed.... but...TOO BAD it's already the case 😌💜 BTS humbleness and passion for music made them winning in the music industry 💜 they have army the strongest fandom ever...and they have THEM ...🤴🏻🤴🏻🤴🏻🤴🏻🤴🏻🤴🏻🤴🏻
BTS always kept their promises.. that’s all I can say.. if they said that they will come back as a group they will come back. I really miss them but I’m patient.. ❤❤
I was a Directioner in 2015 and I still remember the betrayal I felt when I realized they would never be getting back together (and that being in 1D was a bad experience for them all). I think many Armys remember this too and so we were of course heartbroken at history repeating itself. But you made some really good points in this video - besides the contract, the fact that K-Pop groups would just disband instead of going on a hiatus is also really convincing. And Super Junior, Shinee and Big Bang still make music, don't they? A good bond between the members and having input in the music makes the members want to stay. And I don't know any group that gets along better than BTS, as well as having a lot of creative freedom. Listening to the new music they're currently releasing, I also understand why they want to do solo projects at the moment. They are 7 very different people with very different music tastes and if you're making BTS music you kind of have to put your own taste aside to create something that fits all members. Now they can let their own taste and strengths influence the music (even more so than as a group). I really hope that when they get back together, they'll perform some of their solo stuff as a group (like they did with daechwita). I get teary eyed just thinking about it 😂 I can't wait till 2025.

That's why I wasn't freaking when Namjoon said they were taking time off/Hiatus because BTS doesn't understand what time off is. They've been working long hours since their debut. The Devil works hard but BTS works harder.
I think the most reassuring thing that I have seen that truly convinces me that they will stay together is the fact that they are still hanging out with each other all the time and supporting each other's projects--going to each other's concerts, working on tracks together, doing dance challenges together, going to see concerts together, doing lives together, having members on their own talk shows, even going to fashion shows together. They got together to send off both Jin and J-hope to the military and I know they will do the same for each member when the time comes. They are friends and brothers on and off camera and genuinely enjoy being together. They don't need to be doing any of that if they were just contractually obligated to stay together, but they CHOOSE to spend time and do things together.
You did a great job. Keep going! I have no idea about that group or any group else, but I agree that BTS will come back with us. The mf industry don't know sh*t, jst let them be. BTS & ARMY will have the last laugh and be together forever. We should TRUST ONLY BTS, don't care anyone else. Let's focus on stream, vote and support BTS as a group and each member.
Thank you so much for providing such a CLEAR explanation as to why BTS is definitely NOT like One Direction. I have heard way too many times over the past months that BTS is JUST like One Direction and they won't be getting back together 🙄BTS already said that it was NOT a hiatus but of course the media had to twist their words and haters and people who don't know BTS just assume the worst. Here's to 2025 💜
people comparing bts to 1d makes genuinely zero sense, if these journalists and news broadcast companies spent even the slightest amount of time looking into either of the groups in any capacity they'd see it immediately but they just never seem to care when it comes to bts 😞
Our kings never broke promise. And solo or group we are always there for them. And we know that best from BTS are coming soon. Love you our seven kings. 💜
This is so well-researched and beautifully said. These days (or that it's more socially accepted nowadays), we take what's vaguely shown without even bothering to scratch the surface ourselves. I'm really grateful for you being on this platform and hope more people also use this as a push to do some research themselves. I look forward to BTS's projects, their solos, and group projects.
I have never doubted them, i know how much these men love their fans and appreciate them, i was so happy that they were able to express themselves and tell how exhausted they really are to armies, and at the same time i feel bad that they were keeping themselves so pressurized for the sake of armies. They are not like other kpop groups they each have their own passion towards music and i don't think they will stop anytime soon..
BTS has always been transparent with ARMY, always kept their promises, and asked us to continue to trust them. I am not worried about them keeping their word, and I will wait patiently for them to be ready to perform for us as a group again💜
The bottom line is they are artists that value artistry. And they value artistry they do individually as well as the artistry they do as a group. They have said it time over time. Just a few days ago Jhope talked about how the guys met up without jin (cause he is in the military)...and is it suprising? No. It may not even be for work cause they took a 'break' partly to rest from work. They could simply be drinking and that's that. It's normal for us fans cause we have seen them since debut days with the extensive amount they share to us. BTS as a whole and individually has a always described their dislike for strict norms or labels that put you into a stereotype. They legit have songs describing the silliness and irony in such stereotypical labelling like 'boyband', 'pop artists', etc. Also Suga in his new programme as an interviewer talked about how, even if they reach a point where they can't do extensive global tours...since they all actively address their fear of the uncertainty of an artist, he said if nothing else, I would love to have a cruise with my boys and our fans. The attitude is different. And that matters.
@@whatisilyionlyknowipurpleyou precisely. And let's say bts is just using that word to make us fans feel comforted. Their musical goals and respect for each other as artists itself is a testament. Them being family (not just by them saying it but you can witness how they grew to be that way) just adds to the camaraderie.
I was going to my Louis Tomlinson concert, literally in the car on my way and that’s when the festa video came out and I couldn’t stop crying and screaming. Just looking at the word “hiatus” again and going to Lou’s SOLO concert was heartbreaking. I didn’t know much about kpop at that point because I just started staning bts at the beginning of the year so I was so sad ab them “pulling a 1D” I thought how ironic. But then I calmed down, now that I’m going into a year of being with them you can CLEARLY see the HUGE difference between bts and 1D not talking about them being from dif music industries but how they are towards each other they love each other for real and so much. And another thing you can see is how much they LOVE the army, everything they do for us is mind blowing and NOTHING absolutely nothing compared to what 1D did. And I was a huge fan and thought they “loved the fans” but not really. When u discover bts and what they are you see all the difference that existed in the relationship that 1D had with each other and the fans. Even in the music making, bts has been together and successful for so long because they were allowed in these years to explore the things they like, doing solo songs if they felt like it,etc. Bts are coming back and I’m so excited to be part of their new chapter now as them finding out themselves as solo artists and in 2025 when they come back together.
BTS is a group that I fully trust to come back. ARMY has to support them because they have a duty to their country and we have to believe in them. They've never broken a promise to ARMY, they've trusted us before and shown us their vulnerable sides, now we will trust them. They love and sincerity BTS has shown us through camera is unmatched to anything I've ever seen from any artist. Great video!
12:09 a big difference is that all bts members worked hard to be in a group, 1d members joined talent show as soloists and were put together in a group
As a former directioner (and 1d will always have a special place in my heart) 1d and bts are not the same at all. Bts have always kept their promises and they actually love each other, their fans and creating music together. They've said countless of times how they feel their best when they're together. It's healthy and good for them to explore solo work and build identities outside of the group but even they know that bts will always come first. Of course nothing is ever certain, especially to them. They've mentioned how basically nothing's ever gone the way they intended it to go, but it always works out in the end. They keep reassuring us every step of the way that they will come back and armys have zero reason to doubt that. The only way I could see them "breaking" the promise is because of the military since it is a challenging period. I wouldn't even call it breaking the promise because of course their well being comes before anything else. But as Namjoon said as long as they come back from the military healthy and safe everything will be alright. And I completely trust them, the bond they have with each other and armys is something you have to experience yourself or you won't understand it. We will gladly wait no matter how long. Edit: also if something did happen that would mean the end of bts they would never leave us hanging like 1d did. They would do a one last concert, one last live, one last gathering. They'd never betray us that's how different 1d and bts are. Not comparable at all.
These two bands are so different from one another that it's actually just unnecessary to compare them in any way. As well as BTS making their own way when it comes to "K-Pop": their style has always been different to me, the passion they have for music and performance is something that they always transmit through anything they do, so down to earth, such a beautiful connection with their fanbase/supporters. The fact that they are bringing this new content as soloists but still manage to bring other activities as a group (even though they're supposed to be on a break) just proves how dedicated and truthful they are to this whole BTS journey. Thank you so much for making this video, you couldn't have explained it better
The fact that compare 1D vs BTS relationship is actually CRIME you can't imagine 1D member take care their members like BTS does. They're live together, go to school together, some member cooking for other members after they come back home, take care when someone sick or sad - they're truly family.
someone please give her a best journalist's award...that's what media supposed to do but she is doing it by always providing "true and factual" informations. BIG SUPPORT TO THESE CHANNELS
That's why Suga in their last concert said they never said the word hiatus, but those people (the media, in particular, western media) said it. Also shortly after they share with ARMY the news, RM said in his Vlive, that people are twisting their words, there were ARMYs on YT and Twitter using the word Hiatus also, JK explained they are not on a Hiatus.
You got to give it to BTS and Hybe, they really mapped everything out so well for us. Nothing came as a shock and noone was at all angry because we all saw it coming from the foundations they laid for us. Their approach has been so thoughtful and genuine. Chapter 2 has been so amazing, and I'm so happy that the boys are able to shine, explore and show more of who they are as artists.
Also when one of the member get an award like suga for producing they celebrate and cheer the member for that, remember when they acted like bodyguards for suga jaja that was cute and funny 🫶💜💜💜💜😅
i was a one direction fan, and yes they really left me a trauma, 1d lied to their fans and i truly believed to them when they said that the hiatus was about 18 months, but after years i understood that they didn’t like each other and didn’t like to work as a team. I know bts are different, i feel that, they really care about each other, they really care about the ARMYs, they are always honest with us, i 100% trust them and i really can’t wait for 2025
As someone who came from pop punk, I listened to My Chemical Romance, who hadn’t been seen since 2013, and Fall Out Boy, who had a year long hiatus themselves at a point. I listened to the same albums over and over. Since becoming ARMY, I have been fed content nonstop, which was something I previously had to deep dive for. I trust in BTS because I have faith and trust in them, and I’m not concerned about them slowing down because it’s what I am used to from previous music. BTS have been nothing but wholly honest with us, and I think it’d be a major disservice to them to ignore that.
Funny thing is I've been an ex directioner before I became an ARMY but when the boys announced their hiatus I never once compared it to 1D bcz I didn't even think about 1D anymore, my world was consumed with BTS and I trust them beyond belief, I trust them more than my own self. I only recalled all these incidents when I saw them online when the media was talking about it which made me go 'ohh.. right that had happened as well' and moved along my day bcz my trust in BTS goes beyond what anyone says about them, unless they say so themselves I don't spare a look at anything else including articles or whatever. When I was a baby ARMY I used to be scared of this day coming when they'd be on 'hiatus' or enlisting in military but being with them for so long, I know they'll keep their promise regardless of their contracts 💜🥂
I cried while that live for fiesta .. not because of the hiatus or fear of possible disbandment in near future .. but cuz BTS poured their heart out and cried and I cried with them cuz they had to suffer a lot ... And I am enjoying chapter 2 ... As bts are way more free than before which means no stickers in bangtan bomb 😅 and those photos that are killing us ... 🙈 And I am in love with all three albums .. and I can't believe we are getting taeyang and jimin Collab
Our BTS are different. They made promises to ARMY'S and they'll complete their promise. YTC was not just a song but a promise. BTS ot7 will be back soon and keep going on and on as a group for the longest time with bop and chart topping musics.
Another thing to keep in mind is that when the 1D members auditioned for X Factor, they did so intending to become SOLO artists, but then were offered the opportunity to continue on as a group or be eliminated. They each had to make the decision to join the band in a very short period of time. They never auditioned with the intent of becoming part of a group. The same can be said of Fifth Harmony. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that a group won't stay together if they're put together like that (Little Mix kept going for a good while before Jesy left and they went on an "indefinite hiatus"), but it does affect a group dynamic when you never really wanted to be a part of a group in the first place or you had to sort of accept being part of a group as a WAY to get to a solo career. With the exception of RM & SUGA, all the members auditioned to be a part of a GROUP. And even with the first two, RM when under pressure (very early on in their career btw) has always chosen the group and SUGA has reiterated time and time again how much being a part of BTS is important to him and how he wants to stay with the group until they are old and grey, same with the rest of the members. And they've worked hard for 10 years to maintain a cohesive and beautiful group relationship and be intentional with maintaining healthy dynamics between the seven of them. Even the decision to take a break (despite it being in part because of the military), is a way for them to stay together for a long time. These guys are dedicated to remaining together as a group regardless of what format that takes from now on (like you said most likely a group album every two/three years and a major tour, sprinkled with collabs, rather than two albums twice a year). Now this doesn't mean that they don't get burned out or that they each don't have solo aspirations, of course they do. And we see how beneficial this chapter 2 season has been for the first two that released projects. Both j-hope and RM were able to really express themselves as individual artists and you can see how happy and fulfilled it made them. Like RM has said time and time again, now its about reaching more of a balance between group activities and solo aspirations but never to let go of the group. RM said that the future can't be predicted, of course, but that they're intention is always to come back and they've sprinkled enough reassurances and evidence everywhere so we can be sure of that: jungkook's live, rm's note after all the media drama around hiatus, their entire yet to come busan concert and them asking us to trust them, and all the promotional/marketing language they use like you said (x member OF BTS), and the various statements released by the label and their legal representatives. So let all the people assume that they're exactly like one direction, ARMYs know what's up and that's what matters. and when BTS comes back and. breaks all the records again, we'll prove everybody wrong and it will feel awesome! In the meantime, we support them in their solo endeavours the same way we would support them as a group. and in 2025, we'll be here to welcome them back. Thanks again for such a great video!
The values of BTS where they built their foundation since the beginning is unshakeable. To Armys, we don't rely news or info about BTS from media. We just don't. We wait for an official statement from the artist themselves or from HYBE. Media thinks they are helpful towards BTS by mentioning them. It's the other way around. Mentioning BTS for clout. Not all, of course but nevertheless, we just don't rely on them. BTS can put media in their rightful places with an honest and short statement without being disrespectful but can leave big impact on public. Armys will be behind them all the time.
I feel confident saying that the BTS members will always be in one another's life. They are a found family, not just bandmates. We have seen in recent Bangtan Bombs or solo content where they say I miss the members or I wish they were here. Hobi said Jin frickin called him from the military base in his recent live. BTS may retire some day but that bond they share will never go away. If people did just a little research they would see the difference between the groups.
Thank you i was so tired of explaining it especially in tiktok where even armys call bts liars and seem to want bts to disband just to say i told you so…. Bts are like family tgey say they want to make music together in their 50s too they often voice their thoughts about it but feels like no one listens
Yes, the 1D and BTS are entirely different. I was sad about the hiatus news but not because I ever thought it would mean disbandment but because I’m greedy. 😅 In the long run, it’s reassuring that the members are focusing on longevity.
"Broke hearts around the world when they said they want to focus on solo projects" media and non listeners' hearts... and they say WE are dramatic. We fans are excited to see what they will release!
I had to come back to this video because it brought back memories. To me, when 1D was announcing they were going on hiatus, it sounded like they didn't know when they were coming back. Some of them were saying a year, some of them were saying 18 months. It seemed they would have a job/life for a bit where not a lot of people came to see them. So while they were focusing solely on their lives, I tried to do the same. It took over a year to get somewhat used to not listening to their music as much and listening to other artists. I checked up on them after 18 months because I had some hope they were getting back together. But they hadn't, so I'm glad I took the time before that to move on, even though it was meant to be temporary at first. I'm glad to hear the members are on better terms with each other now. It affected me alot and tbh it probably still does in parts of my life. Such as being careful when it comes to liking new (to me) artists, particularly groups. When I heard they had planned to get back together in 2020, it didn't change anything for me. As the years have gone by, I've slowly started listening to their group music again. I became a fan of them through their CDs and I still have them. With BTS it's different. They told us what they are going to do next and they have stuck with it. So I'm sticking with them, and I'll be appreciating their content (mostly music) whether it's all of them together or only some of the members or just one member. Edit: I know I've repeated a bit from what I put in my first comment. It was necessary for context.
Amazing video, as usual. I would have touched on a couple more things that i think reinforce the point you were making: 1. the fact that the media had a frenzy throwing the word hiatus into the headlines long before the 2022 Festa, so we kind of should have known this will happen: it was back when Big Hit announced the 1st official BTS rest period, back in 2018/9? if I am not mistaken; vultures latched on that simple statement to claim that was IT: disbandment... and then everyone pretended nothing happened when 1 month later the boys announced new album or tour news or contract renewal... sorry my memory is fuzzy, after being for 8 years in this fandom, so much happened, I sometimes mix dates, but I am sure you guys know what I am talking about... 2. the letter Joon posted from his trip to Europe after the Festa video was uploaded and the freefall of Hybe stock value. That letter was so raw and filled with anger and disappointment and made it obvious that he was hurt that even his moments of tearful honesty that were meant for ARMY were taken by media and twisted into a weapon to announce their demise as a band. He called out media so harshy and the fact that the simple news of their chapter 2 send such a huge shockwave in the stock market speaks volumes about the difference in circumstances between 1D and BTS... while 1D's only stake was their own contracts, BTS was not only the pillar and main revenue source of a huge multilabel corporation, but also pivotal for the entire Hallyu and Korean music industry. The weight and multiple ramifications of the strength of BTS relation is nowhere near the impact the separation of 1D ever had. 3. The Busan concert i feel should have its mention in this video because the way that entire event unravelled it was a very complex wrap up of the whole mess that started during Festa. Everything from the way the boys were brought back from their solo schedules and rest period to support the bidding of the country for the expo, to the way the concert itself was thought out (setlist, theme, props) and the ments of the boys was both a final face to face reassurance for army that they WILL come back and a f. you to the media that turn their chapter 2 announcement into a circus and also dragged them through the mud re enlistment. Not to mention the very next day after the concert BH announced their enlistment on their own accord, without any prior notice to media.
Amazingly articulated. As an ARMY who understood it all but still has an underlying fear just for you know the “worst case scenario” this helps so much.
Thank you for this! I was a directioner for 6 years!! It was SO hard to realize that we were literally lied to. Everything that we thought was real, ended up being the opposite. I will never forget when I attended one of their concerts and I even camped outside the stadium 3 days before the actual day to be in front row… I was so disappointed, they had ZERO chemistry in the scenario, only Harry and Niall seemed happy. It was before Zayn left the band, and it broke my heart to see that they didn’t like each other as much as I thought. It was confirmed after they went solo… and they never returned… I promised myself to never like any other group because that was so sad. But then in 2020, I discovered BTS… and the rest was history, they truly changed my life. I was able to see how little appreciation and love we received from 1D and how different BTS was. I could see REAL friendship, real gratitude towards their fans and passion for their music. It was like opening my eyes and realizing how a REAL group should be. That’s why I understood that they were not going on the same “hiatus” as 1D. But no one else seemed to understand it, and it’s because they don’t know that they are more than a famous boy band. This explained everything beautifully!! I hope many people see this and realize why BTS is different and why they are on the top even with racist people and speaking a whole different language. I’m so thankful to BTS! They are the definition of GREAT LOOKS and BEAUTIFUL and HUMBLE hearts full of passion. I’ll be here waiting for them. 💜
Thank you for making a video about this, I was always seeing people say bts is gonna turn out just like 1d did when they went on a break. A lot of armys that were once directioners kept comparing bts to what happened with 1d, I feel like bts and 1d are two different groups, there’s a difference between them and that’s that bts keeps their promises/has stated that they have the intention of coming back together and stronger. Bts members made it very clear that they are NOT disbanding, even jk went on live not long after the festa dinner video was posted and made sure to make it very clear that bts isn’t disbanding.
I remember when they announced hiatus my non army friends were like are you gonna cry or die for them and i was like calm down they're gonna return and there doing great as solo artists
Excellent video. It’s sad that the boys & BH had to refute over and over about the disbanding. Army will be waiting for them to finish their service and come back to us.
As usual, you’ve made a phenomenal argument and done brilliant analysis of why BTS makes the decisions they make. For me, the only thing I needed to do was listen to “Yet to Come” and I knew instantly that they would definitely be present and back to work as the full group in no time. BTS are artists that communicate best through their medium (music/songwriting) and “Yet to Come” was a clear message on the direction of their future. If anyone is ever in doubt of whether BTS will ‘come back’ all they have to do is listen to “Yet to Come” and you’ll have your answer.
I was a directioner from debut to disbandment, and it has heart breaking as a fan because they were happiness and home to a lot of us, but seeing it now that im older , its very obvious that the boys were mistreated emotionally, mentally and physically so its the best that they dint come back from hiatus, now as an army I was never worried about them doing the same thing one direction did because they all love doing what they're doing ( not saying 1d didn't love it, but I find it hard to imagine they were enjoying their management locking them up in their hotel rooms after shows and award shows, controlling EVERYTHING they wore, etc) but the announcement did bring some sadness to me just because of the memories the word "hiatus" has attached to it. I wish people would stop comparing them as groups and their dynamics, 1d were all teenagers when they debuted leaving there was no "hyung" to lead/take care of them emotionally, obviously bts is on their own level and arguably the better group (musically and performance ) but at the end of the day what makes the one better is the memories attached to the group that the fans have of them, if 1d was your childhood it normal to favor them, visa versa.... Anyways I went on a little rant there, but back to the main point, BTS is NOT One Direction they are their both their own established groups that should be respected as their own without the comparison of one another. Both are great and should be loved.
this was a fantastic video. i remember when the festa dinner video was released, i watched it immediately and i hadn't seen ANYBODY'S reactions to the video beforehand. i had heard bts' thoughts ONLY and i felt secure knowing there wasn't a hidden meaning in their words. it wasn't until i got online where it felt like everything shifted. media outlets were painting a completely different story from what bts had said, one direction fans were further pushing this new narrative, and i even had family members trying to console me over the news. it was such a confusing time for armys because we all watched the festa dinner, but the rest of the world were treating us like we were crazy for believing bts' words. i think the moment where i was fully able to see everything clearly again was the next day when namjoon wrote that long weverse post. the cloud fully lifted from my vision after that.
I figured they had planned to leave for the military at the end of 2020 when they released MOTS7 instead of Shadow and then Ego as the repackage. Shadow was meant to be released in October, but was delayed for many reasons (this isn’t official). This pushed their schedule too tight if they released them separately and did 7 instead. A bunch of us thought 7 felt like a repackage of an album we never got, and it probably was. Then the world and the law changed and they moved their plans.
i'm so glad you explain so well what i want to say. people need to stop comparing bts and 1d and need to start actually LISTENING to what bts are saying cause they've never hid how much they love what they do and how much they love doing it together as a group
I’m almost semi-glad that they are taking this hiatus because they can finally rest and their fans can finally have the time to catch up on all the content. I listen to their advice in Pied Pier and focus on completing an honours thesis and I come back having missed a hundred episodes of Run BTS, a dozen variety show appearances, a tour, two whole seasons of In the Soop, and three AMA wins.
Honestly this ^ Like I had to focus on my health and my degree and my work and now I finally have the chance to catch up with everything and give it the proper time and energy it deserves, like I even missed out on listening to the rest of several albums because I was so busy focussing on my damn degree that I didn't have time for anything else, now it's done and I can finally reward myself with that sweet sweet BTS content lol
When Bts did their festa and announced that they are going to focus on their individual projects it was like a sit down talk just like you tell your family what you really want right!! The army's understood it really well . The media people are blame here definitely and it is fair to have your solo albums because army's will get to see their new side and songs of how lonely they feel and things that the member happy etc if you know you know
Thank you for explaining to the new army and to others who misunderstood the word "hiatus". And I really really like your thoughts and the way you describe. 💜💜
It's funny because ARMY's were very accepting of this news and knew it didn't mean forever. Meanwhile journalists were misinterpreting the entire situation, as they always do. BTS is not like anyone else, and as an ARMY of six years, they never break their promises.
They did the same for their very first vacation break. They love the false and bad taglines.
Borahae 💜 ARMY
The majority of idol fans and followers know it's not forever. We're used to it at this point. It's just how things work over there.
Western media and journalists have the internet at their disposal yet most of them chose not to do any research which was just sad. And it wasn't anything complicated to look up either. I know people who have no interest in kpop do a quick search to understand the situation.
It truly was funny.
The thing is no ARMY was worried when they announced the break, yet media decided to make it sound like we went crazy lol.
True
Exactly
@giovannitorres9337 yes, that is an excellent point.
Someone get this girl a job in broadcasting, stat. She has more journalistic integrity than the whole clump of "reporters" in western media combined.

They’re also totally upfront and don’t hold back what they’re feeling, going back to their early vlogs, they tell us EVERYTHING, even their pimples and bathroom troubles 😂
And it can be a good thing to have a break to work with others and explore other styles, something different, it can lead to developing fresh ideas to bring back with them when they all come back together again as a full group.
Ahh yes the tale of two toilets! I think it was Hobi saying he recognized Suga in the next stall over just by the way he sighed! 😂💙💜💜💜💜💜💜🐳♾

Used to love both but now only bts . I guess my 1d phase is over
alot of fans actually dont belive 1d will come back ak solo stans the majority
the only reason i’m still a little scared all these months later is cause i did used to like 1d back in the day but didn’t follow their band activities or interviews or wtv so i didn’t know what they were like outside of their music and mvs. i heard they went on a hiatus and then they never came back, and that’s where the fear comes from.

Oh I get you! I experienced the exact same thing!
I didn't follow 1D at all, and I didn't know about the hiatus thing, but to me a hiatus generally means the band is going silent for any variety of reasons and things *will not* be the same if or when they do come back. I think I got that from Def Leppard, who had to go on hiatus several times in their stellar career, for absolutely agonizing reasons.
its funny how journalists are more 'worried' about their hiatus than us ARMYS LOL
Yes the best moment is "Yet To Come" ❤️🦋
I also have a hard time listen ping to 1D now. I still listen to it occasionally but after finding BTS it did seem a lot more generic and not as catchy. I felt so bad about it too.
i was in the same situation;)
And that love is exactly what's kept BTS together, kept them going and also what makes Army so loyal and invested in the members both individually and collectively.

Good post!🙂👏🏻
Ikr, imagine them performing Arson and Wild Flower with all the members ?
ABSOLUTE HEAVEN
I learned in the beginning of being a BTS fan when they say they are going on vacation it doesn't mean they are leaving or not checking in with ARMY. I remember 2 weeks into a so called vacation we got notice of an album drop. There are times I need sleep and they want to play.
@@Hotshortie lmaooo thats so them like they will be like "yeah nothing is coming up no album is coming soon sorry amiiii you will have to wait a little bit more yeah, then you will listen to the music i have been preparing for you" and boom a few weeks later we r having a yoongi countdown for D-2 that we didnt even know for sure if it was him or JK right until the time that the mixtape dropped😭😭 they love to play too much and have our heads spinning
@@g100-w6j I remember thinking I was going to get some sleep, after they told us they were going on vacation. Seriously, I thought i'd be getting a whole night, without interruptions. I thought would not be getting any alerts in the middle of the night. LOL BOOM! within 2 weeks my phone was blowing up in the middle of the night.
They even got stocks of their company!! Though it might be a small amount, it shows how much they are appreciated!!
Let's focus on stream, vote and support BTS as a group and each member.
you're right, we just need to focus on ourselves and the guys! thank you so much for the support💜
@@angelelelelalalalalelae EXACTLY. They have said time and time again that BTS is BTS. Stop comparing them to other groups
You forget to include that they are shareholders of the company…
Exactly. 1D literally said they felt like co-workers, meanwhile BTS actually call themselves "family"
Now they are still releasing solo yet they are on hiatus 😂😂😂😂 power of BTS.
I just want a concert in 2025 and hear their solo songs. Astronaut, Arson/More, Wildflower and Dreamers.etc
Remember when taehyung suggest changes to the weverse platform, and it was immediately implemented? How can people think they have no control.
BIG SUPPORT TO THESE CHANNELS
this is my new favorite channel FR.
When RM said trust us 💜 I have faith in his words. BTS is the only artist I believe in when they say they will be back. I AM FOREVER ARMY💜💜💜💜🇺🇸🤟💜💜💜
It's all about competition. Many anti's hope they don't come back but we all know better as armies! BTS & ARMY Borahae cus we are positive.
i was a one direction fan, and yes they really left me a trauma, 1d lied to their fans and i truly believed to them when they said that the hiatus was about 18 months, but after years i understood that they didn’t like each other and didn’t like to work as a team. I know bts are different, i feel that, they really care about each other, they really care about the ARMYs, they are always honest with us, i 100% trust them and i really can’t wait for 2025
I’m not a Directioner, so I had no idea the impact that 1D’s “hiatus” had on BTS’s announcement. Great video, as usual! 💜
Me neither. They cursed the word. lol
🙈 And I am in love with all three albums .. and I can't believe we are getting taeyang and jimin Collab
you have my huge respect. You said so well. let's welcome our boys in 2025 by supporting them with all of our hearts💜💜💜💜
Thank you, Bora City💖, clarity, fact-check, professional, and respectful. true ARMY of BTS💜🥂
BTS is a transparent group🥴, they're not afraid to express their true colors and emotions.
Tik tok 'armys' are not ARMYs
I would have touched on a couple more things that i think reinforce the point you were making:
1. the fact that the media had a frenzy throwing the word hiatus into the headlines long before the 2022 Festa, so we kind of should have known this will happen: it was back when Big Hit announced the 1st official BTS rest period, back in 2018/9? if I am not mistaken; vultures latched on that simple statement to claim that was IT: disbandment... and then everyone pretended nothing happened when 1 month later the boys announced new album or tour news or contract renewal... sorry my memory is fuzzy, after being for 8 years in this fandom, so much happened, I sometimes mix dates, but I am sure you guys know what I am talking about...
2. the letter Joon posted from his trip to Europe after the Festa video was uploaded and the freefall of Hybe stock value.
Well said 💜
Thank you for making a video about this, I was always seeing people say bts is gonna turn out just like 1d did when they went on a break.
Exactly
girl came and left no crumbs. this was so well done. will be linking this video whenever some non-fans are being stupid
Bts es un grupo maravilloso que nos a enseñado cómo se trabaja y cómo dar amor ellos son lo más hermoso todo estos años son amor y son los reyes y seremos arm’s por siempre ❤
