Fantastic video! I was able to easily fix the drift on my psp 2001 following your guide. A few pointers for anyone attempting this - I didn't have to lift the motherboard to take out the joystick. Thoroughly cleaning the joystick (not just the cap) with a toothbrush might do the trick if you don't have access to a replacement. When reassembling, the bottom button strip's ribbon cable might come loose, so it's best to check the connection before popping the screen back in. Cheers.
thank you very much, out of all the videos i watched this is the only that actually helped me, glad you emphasized regarding tightening the screws because that was the step i was missing all along
My problem is defferent..my psp power led always green red then no light but when i charged it its normal and no light..so its hard to know how i want to know my psp low batteries or full batteries without light
hello ! I have this super weird issue with the joystick: it works but sometimes when I play & when I make it go up my character starts walking suuuper slow out of nowhere, at first I thought it was bc of HP but not at all; and if I power it off/on it suddenly works again but it always does it again after playing for some time, what should I do and what do you think is the issue?
For a super simple fix, you might be able to get around the issue by wiggling the joystick like crazy when it first starts to happen. For a more permanent fix, I’d say it’s probably the small clear rubbery rectangle piece that needs replacing as they can wear out and I believe that’s one of the issues that can be caused by that
I hadn't opened my console until today and had already ordered an Analog supposedly for PSP series 3000 (mine is 3006) but I noticed my console doesn't have a flex and this one I ordered does, kind of a stupid question but will it work on my console?
@@TheBygoneEra i opened the psp up and the bottom buttons below the screen disconnected😭 please help how do i reconnect it Edit: never mind i figured it out😀 it was really stressful putting back together i was certain i messed up one of the ribbons but i guess they all work Joystick still doesnt work though, i ordered a replacement :(
@@TheBygoneEra update, my new joystick arrived and i performed careful surgery on my psp. I accidentally popped off the clasp for the ribbon for the joystick but i shoved it back in, carefully put everything back together (the screen is so hard) and it works :D finally gonna play a game
Hey great video man! Where can I still find a replacement joystick? Tightening the screws apparently wasn't enough so I guess more drastic measures are required :)
tightening the screws worked, though whoever owned this before me clearly did a bit of digging themself, any idea what the size of the screws are, there's quite a few missing and I had to borrow one from the battery compartment
I did that with an Xbox controller years ago thinking it’d fix it. After all, it’s a lubricant right? But yeah that’s when I found out that WD-40 destroys electronics ☹️
The info about the little rubber/plastic bit in the analogue stick was exactly what I needed, solid video man
I’m glad I could help! Thank you!

I believe there is a software mod you can do that places a battery icon up the top of the screen constantly, could be something to look into
God of war will def put stress on the analog 🤣
You are not wrong haha

I’m not sure sorry, I haven’t seen any PSP analog sticks that have flex cables
as a beginner who never did this do u think i could do it by myself without breaking anything ? 😭💀
You definitely can! Just take it easy!
i have using 2nd psp 1000.. and not original charger.. normally how many hours takes psp to full charge?
Im gonna try this as soon as i get the right screw driver, my stick drift is so so bad its stuck in the up position i cant even move down at all
Hopefully you can get it sorted!

No it should be the same. The PSP in this video is a Japanese version too

I’m not too sure on the exact sizing sorry but I’m pretty sure you can get a pack of new ones fairly cheap on eBay
What bits did you use for everything? Did you buy it as a set? Thanks in advance!
Bits as in screwdriver bits? Just Phillips head and torx bit
@@TheBygoneEra thanks! What size of philips screw drivers? Ours won't fit
Fairly sure I used a PH00 size bit
thanks man subscribed
Thank you!
What screw size tool do we use for removing the back screws?
Phillips head PH00
1:59 cable broken T__T how can i buy it.
I would try eBay
Umm hello sir my psp model is 1004 and I replaced the joystick but still drifting so can you help and rubber inside is also broken
If the rubber rectangle inside is damaged, that will need to be replaced too
Do analogs only work in game and not on main menus
Yes they only work in game
Would this be the same for the psp 3001?
Not exactly the same but should be very similar
And sir if I take out the rubber and analog stick it still drifts
Yes it needs the rubber and the analog stick installed. If there is no connection it will drift badly
