Instant like for the most badass faction in AoS. What makes them stand out for me, outside of them being Orcs, is the simple yet brutal way they are. While everyone else, including Sigmar and his boys, were hiding behind high walls with their tails between their legs, the Ironjawz were marching and rampaging about like they owned the place, and I love how they're one of the few that do not fear Chaos, who seems to be the big bad boogey man of Warhammer. Before it, Orcs just smile and welcome the challenge and that is simply badass. Another thing that separates them for me is when I think about the 'Ardboys. If you think about it a bit, they were the most badass, big and powerful Orcs of Fantasy, and the rest of the Orcs looked up to them and feared/admired them for their might. And now, they're the smallest orcs within the Ironjawz army. Any other species, faction or army(and maybe players that use them) that lost their status in this way, from the highest of places to a place where once again you have to prove yourself again and again would have fallen into a depression, or would be just simply bitching about how unfaaaaaaaaair it was..., but how did the Black orcs react? They shrugged their shoulders, got their choppas out and started to do their damn hardest to emulate the Brutes and Megabosses of the Ironjawz. Not a single bitching comment of "how we use to be the biggest before these came" or any of it, they even are absolutely mesmerized by the Ironjawz, it's all they want to be. That, for me, is priceless. It's the furthest thing away from a victim mentality there is( and there's a lot of it nowadays, especially among players according to what I've seen), so adopting this mentality for yourself can only help immensely, developing your strenghts and adpating to overcome your weaknesses. Thanks for a very good video once again, Doug. #WAAAAAAAHGGGHHHH!!!!
Those Gore Gruntas are what got me so interested, armored warboars just tearing everything to shreds with green screaming giants riding them is just awesome
Interviewer: "So Mr. GorkaMorka, why is it that you don't want to re-join the Order pantheon?" GorkaMorka: "Sigmar's a Pansy." Interviewer: "Wha-" GorkaMorka: _"P A N S Y !"_ Interviewer: *fucking dies*
It's definitely fun to hear more about this faction that doesn't get much coverage in official material. I may not play or really be interested in Destruction (outside of maybe painting a model or two from the Ironjaws line), but I do enjoy learning about their strange way of life. I find that it can be really interesting to see how an Order faction would interact with these forces in Ghur. It stands to reason that I'm pretty excited for the Exploring the Realms video on Ghur. I think I'm a sucker for organizational minutia (maybe that's why I like the Stormcast) and the "structure" of mobs, fists, and brawls is quite genius to me. I wonder, will you be covering Beastclaw Raiders anytime soon? Of all the Destruction armies, those have my deepest interest due to the current lack of information about them right now.
Since Ardboys from AoS and the Gouged Eye from Bloodbowl have the same base size, I’m really thinking of using them as proxies (with maybe some Ork Nobz from 40K to represent the unit leaders with all the sci if weapons removed) for an Ironjawz army. The lore behind them being that the leader of the army (a Warchanter) believes that weapons such as choppas and gore-gruntas weakens them because they rely on power that they can’t naturally make and that their own bodies are the strongest weapons there are. Basically it's Baki mentality. And because the army is made up almost entirely of Ardboys they treat their leader's teachings almost as gospel and seek to emulate his fighting style and train in it as best they can.
First off I gotta say I love the videos man you do a very very good job at going into detail about EVERYTHING! I honestly was never really into warhammer until I played TW warhammer. Then I accidentally found your channel and man you go into such great detail about the lore I love it. It makes me love this game and hobby even more. Keep up the good work and thank you!
These videos are great and have cemented for me the need to build my destruction army. Ironjawz are just dope, though I love the goblins too. Even the savage orcs are growing on me though now..
We Can only love the Way the army just grow! But its hard to miss the fact that the wagh is wery close to How the Horde became to be . So again we see the massive influence Tamurkhan has had on the realms. But Nice to see it still works for others too
Before this video I had passed up even considering getting any Ironjawz. This was because I made the mistake of assuming that they were just like orcs/orks/orruks/etc from most other fantasy settings, where they are just green, angry, large, and fighty people. They are certainly still that, but this is considerably more interesting to me than my first impression. Unfortunately, you have caused my armies wanted to grow from 11 to 12. Guess I'll be busy for the next couple of decades. :P
I love Orks, Orruks, and Grots. They are just a jolly unstoppable force of nature. I love that Ironjawz specifically ride those cabbage dragons, they are such a cool model. I hope when Moonclan get a release we get a Hand of Mork to be the counterpart to the Fist of Mork.
I'm new to War Hammer AoS, and I have enjoyed your lore videos. Great way to learn about this hobby. After I finish getting my Nighthaunt and Stormcast up and running, I'm thinking the Ironjawz are going to be next.
There is something kinda pure and sad about Ork/Orrucks I think. They are gloriously uncomplicated. Built only to fight and destroy the ultimate brute force weapon. For me as a 40K player coming over just recently to AoS, I wanted to play something different than my normal Space Marines. With the launch of second edition, a lot of my local player were going Stormcast or Nighthaunt, so again trying to be different My eyes fell on Orks. Which made the manager of my local GW happy because she was the only ork player for a while. But anyway I like the look of the models and while the normal ardboy leaves a little to be desired being an older kit, I love the brute and my megaboss! the fact I can just smash and break with out any fancy tactics is greatly refreshing.
Hey Chris, I might do something like that in the future but as the army is unsupported by GW, it wont be for a while. There's just so much cool stuff coming out now that players can really interact with. Thank you for watching!
A khorne vs Iron Jawz box set would be awesome in my opinion. I want to play them just to save up the money what draws me to them is the look they have and how they probably won't let the wars going on right now end even if they have to fight each other.
@@2Tough I've watched all your videos I love them. But I admit idk much about warhammer fantasy or aos. But I'm I'm tying to learn about them I watch your stuff and arch he has allot about fantasy I'm learning slowly. But I didn't hear you say anything about if they have a apothecary w them on the battle field. I know allot about warhammer 40k. There is a theory that sigmar is one of the lost primarch. Aos is really cool I like the lore about it. I get most of my lore from you. Thank you for answer me most of the big lore ppl usually never answer.
The idea is that they want to be noticed on the battlefield, it won't do to hack apart dozens of enemies and that Gork(or Mork) don't see you doing it. I've gotten used to the yellow, but I still think black or red, or both, work best for orcs.
What I love about orcs in warhammer be it AoS or 40k is they’re simple but not really stupid. In the grim dark they tend on the comedic side, from a readers perspective hummies probably don’t find them humorous.
I love the Ironjawz and I haven't played a single game with them yet lol. One lore problem I have is with the color of the their skin *snicker*. The old lore was the bigger they got the darker their skin became. That's how Black Orcs were. Aren't the Brutes just bigger Black Orcs. I don't like how bright they paint the skin in the books and other pics. I'm painting mine to have a darker skin tone.
yes and no, the idea of Black orruks doesnt appear anywhere in AOS, and the only lore-based change that happens as orruks fight is that they get bigger and meaner. So it's true that these are the spiritual successors of them, but they are different in that Black Orcs arent a thing

I love iron jawz, but I really feel sorry for the older orruk / grot line of minis. They seem so left behind and not at all fleshed out 😐
Do not despair, Orruk Warclans and Gloomspite Gitz have since gotten their own books to flesh them all out.
Waaagh! The Ironjawz is like the honey badger of AoS; what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Plus honey badger doesn't care!

Hey Kenzie, I'll for sure cover them in depth at some point! :)
I had been thinking about a Deepkin force, but the green calls far too strong. That said too, I think Gorkamorka will be the one the check Naggash
I'm currently building a beastclaw raiders army and having you narrate lore in the background is the best thing.

Loved the bit about their organisation structure haha. “Counting to 20 is a myth”
