  • You may be wondering: how do I snake a drain? This is a job you can easily do yourself. Leah from See Jane Drill shows you how to snake a drain using a drum augers.
    1) Remove the p-trap on your sink. Make sure to use a bucket to catch the water that comes out.
    2) Remove the front screw of the drum auger. Push the snake through the pipe until you meet resistance. Once you meet resistance, tighten the screw up.
    3) Spin the auger to drill through the blockage. Turn the handle as you push forward.
    4) Hold on to the end to loosen the nut, pull the snake out just a little bit, tighten the nut and repeat the process.
    5) Once you've felt you've cleared the blockage, remove the drum auger and replace the p-trap

So after watching a bunch of videos and trying to figure where the clog was and trying to figure how to use the snake..I found your tip for a bent pipe and to slowly push in the snake and turn the handle slowly when you meet resistance.. IT WORKED GREAT:) you saved me 200.00 dollars..and I'll be able to save more money for future clogs..thank you to all who are on to help one another.

I watched this video last night, then used my 25 ‘ drain auger (like the one you demonstrated). And it worked perfectly. I’d had trouble before with feeding it in “too much to quick”.
You technique worked great on the laundry down pipe and the floor drain.
