I'm proud to say that I have died in all of their films EXCEPT The Editor. Giuseppe lives!
Were you in ManBorg?, who did you play?
@@simonhassnilsson7009 Arena Victim/Doctor Hell/Elite Guard #2/Assorted Killborgs according to IMDb.

@@MrDasSpoon Sorry for the late reply! I think I die 11 times in that film although Kostanski (the director) says it's in the 30s.

I love everything Astron 6 does and The Editor especially is one of the most brilliant pieces of filmmaking that is wildly underrated. Love this movie so much.
Agreed! Facts!
I received The Editor on blu-ray from an older Horror Block subscription I had and took the chance of just watching to see what it was. Wasn't expecting much at all, but ended up loving the movie! To know how much work and dedication went into making this movie makes me appreciate it even more.
What a relief to see a channel which express respect for movie making, instead of the cliche fake outrage and spitting on movies, that mediocre-and-below RUclipsrs use to wallow in! This is how you really make reviews, with integrity both for yourself and others.
Exactly what about this video is a review? Don't get me wrong, this video is an excellent exploration on how this film is made, that's just not what a review is. The last 2 minutes come close to expressing an opinion (you know, the thing that would make this a review), but this video is not a review.
@@levischorpioen A review use to be something more than pure criticism. Read Roger Ebert's reviews for example--they are always about so much more than only if he likes a movie or not.
Stroheim333 Agreed, but this isn’t even about that. This is an exploration of the film’s production, not a review. Nothing about this is about the actual finished product.
@@levischorpioen Yes it is. And it is a review that also contains a lot of production details. And I am sure you reacted to my comment, only because I expressed my disregard for all these cliche reviewers (fake outrages) on RUclips. But the nerve I hit is your, and therefore it is also your problem.
Stroheim333 Not really. I was going to comment on how this was a great exploration anyway, and then I saw your response. But do remain butthurt, see who comes out of this with less stress.
Loved this movie, one of those you sit trough with a huge smile on your face
This is so neat! I’ve lived here in Winnipeg all my life and to see this happening in my home town makes me all kinds of happy
Astron-6 are pure perfection. Fathers day and cool guys are by far my favs. More!
I love the movie coverage you do. Most people just review the film. Knowing all the background stuff makes the movie more interesting.
I was expecting a fun and informative review of a movie I've never heard of called The Editor and got a fantastic doc on making a lo (micro even?} budget movie. It's an inspiration to all aspiring film makers - better than most 'movie making' books out there. Proof, if ever needed, that a group of ambitious and creative talented people can get together and make a movie and that the trials and tribulations are vital to the process. Part of the fun. John Carpenter said once that there's no greater film set than a horror movie set. Damn right. Thanks guys, I really loved it.
Thanks for watching!
I would love to see more modern homages towards the Giallo genre.
It is such an under appreciated genre here in America.
there was some Giallo references in 'Last Night in Soho' (2021) so I think its slowly happening
When I started watching this movie I was like "what the hell is this and when is this from???" then I caught on that it was a homage to Giallo and I was like "OMG this is brilliant!!" and also gave it glowing reviews… Gotta check Manborg and Father's Day now, didn't know about those
It’s amazing how great a film can look even if the budget is tight or low
Thank you so much to introducing me to this and Astron 6. This is one of the best things I've seen in awhile. I died when he picked up the cake! Also, there were some other great recommendations in this video too. I just finished American Mary and loved it too.
You can tell a lot of passion went into that film, good for them.
I never heard of this movie until now. will check it out. looks very trippy
I discovered this one after it one Best Picture at the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival. It has remained one of my favourites ever since!
I can never get enough, I wish you could put out 3 videos a week! Keep up the amazing work!
This and Father's Day are both just amazing.
These are the type of videos I subscribe to your channel for. Really interesting and entertaining!
Thanks!
I absolutely love this film and everything Astron 6 does, thanks for making this video!
You're welcome!
I've been watching your videos for over a year and wow, your love of exploitation and B and everything in between is very admirable. Every video is freakin' amazing, and this one - bravo sir! Keep up the good job :)
The Editor is one of my favorite movies. Astron-6 are awesome. They really need a bigger fan base.
need to check this out! love that there’s a giallo film made in winnipeg!
Great video Cecil! I watched The Void on your recommendation & loved it, got to watch The Editor now.
You are doing the lord’s work my friend.
Oh hell yes, nice to see you giving Astron-6 some much deserved love.
Mondays are perfect when there's a new video from this channel
Awesome vid, Cecil! Thanks for recommending this one to me. I never even heard of these guys, but I'll definitely be checking their films out now. These guys have the same idea that I have of revisiting old school horror styles & using the retro styles to create something new, original, & exciting. I hope I can work with these guys, one of these days!
I absolutely love their output. Both as Astron-6 & after
The Editor was an amazing piece of work. Thank you Astron 6
You made me laugh with your pronunciation of Tenebrae. Great video Cecil, these dudes deserve the love!
These guys have Amazing dedication. This is on my list of movies I need to watch.
GoodBadFlicks brightens my Mondays! Everytime! THANK YOU! :)
I love the shout factory and scream factory!! That's my favorite DVD company, as I have to close to 100 of their films.
The "old" dslr footage, which I assume were 550Ds or 7Ds, still look good to me. Money saver, right there.
Hard work, patience and being meticulous will really pay off.
I loved this movie it's a spoof with heart.
Definitely going to watch this. Thanks, Cecil!
This was FANTASTIC
Dude I'm glad my brother told me about ur cannanl man been here for 2 year now. Keep up the good work man and love go into the moive and get the information. Big fan man
Your videos should come as extras on DVDs. Also, I would love to see an Exploring video on the movie Primer, the 2004 Shane Carruth project. I really love that movie and would love to see/hear the info you're able to dig up. Keep on rockin, dude.
Loved the movie. Astron-6 are truly geniuses in saving money.
The best part of the week! New Good Bad Flicks video!
Great video! These guys are my inspiration, love them!
great job compiling all this info. Love this.
Great story about how a labor of love with a group united by a singular purpose, can accomplish virtually anything they desire. Even an independent film!
Nice. Never heard of it but sounds and looks dope. Good lookin out as usual
Very cool! I had never heard of this!
Thank you for increasing my knowledge of small budget movies
You are welcome!
It’s all fun and games until that one guy puts on their black leather gloves and whips out their straight razor
I like this xD Gialli are just so good!
There's a Swedish film named Evil Ed which is the same basic concept of a horror film cutter going mad. It even features an incredible devil make-up that reminds of Tim Curry in Legend.
That was great. I have a few different movies to go look up now.
It's really crazy all of this was basically done in Kenora Ontario without my know about considering its where I'm from.
I was freakin living back home too when they were filming. I'm kicking myself.
Damn, I have to purchase this movie after watching this review! So damn cool!
I love your channel.....laying on the couch ,,,after a long ….well you know what....these are the best movies,,,,,,,
Great video for a kickass horror film !!!
As a Winnipeger, I just get a kick out of figuring out the locations that I recognize in the film
Adam Brooks' deliberately cheezy/artsy Italian-horror dialogue is particularly brilliant:
"Editing this movie is as close to being alive as you and I will ever be."
"...But aren't we alive right now?"
"...If this is life I want no part of it."
I absolutely love this film!
Really nice detailed 'exploring' video.
Thanks!
Love the channel. Have discovered so many new favourites based on your videos. I was wondering, what clips did you use in your older openings? I recognize a few like thriller, society, motel hell and cool as ice. Looking for the roller rink one. Keep up the amazing work. Oh yeah, I live in Winnipeg and had no idea these guys were from here.
I believe the skating scenes are from Roller Boogie starring Linda Blair. It has Dean Cundey doing DP & Cher singing the theme song. It's very much an acquired taste kind of movie. The same producer as Halloween. The trailer shows off some of the best shots that Dean shot and shows the movie to be exciting when it isn't quite
i think its worth watching---mostly with a live audience in a party mood who can stomach trashy movies
Thank you! That was it. Such a great watch.
nothing better than a exploring video to start the week =D
I can't believe I haven't heard if this movie, thanks for the reccomendation 👍
Another great recommendation. Thanks.
You got to admit, the creators of this movie grew some brass balls to make their film very real and very dark.
I love this movie. Killer video, lots of great info.
Big fan of your work. It is choice content.
I miss the OG intros.
Great video sir.
Dude, you've turned me on to so many Amazing films, my video library is full of these movies and I love them all. Thanks, Man! Plus I love when you put in a Death Metal reference! \m/
Old son your strategic poster placement was on point in this one lol. Wasn't their an old movie from the 80's about a Editor that goes crazy from look at too many horror movies?
Can't wait to watch this film!
I loved this film. Great video with all the behind the scenes trivia. While I was watching that chainsaw scene I kept thinking how'd they do that, it looks like a real chainsaw. Haha, I guess it was. Wow. My hats off to these guys. I would definitely donate to their next project if they make another feature.
Underrated movie.
“The.... score”
Yeah, that’s not what we’re looking at.
Great choice Cecil I'm a big Astron 6 fan.
Watched this some years back, and admittedly, not being familiar with Giallo films did hurt my enjoyment of the film. Was lost most of the time.
BTW, what about doing a piece on The Love Witch? That's another weird one for me.
How’d I miss this?! Checking it out now!
I must find out where I can watch this film!
So dope. Thank you!
MANBORG sounds like the next review
I wasn't big on Manborg and Father's Day, to me they felt too mean-spirited to the type of films that they parodied (even though I'm sure that wasn't the intention), The Editor however was perfect to me! A great fun film. I hope they start doing more serious projects like The Void too. It was badass!
Those moustaches are fabulous.
This movie is so good.
Gonna have to eventually watch everything Cecil recommends.
Where did you find the making-of footage? I’d love to share it with my film students :) Love your channel! Thanks!
There's a ton of BTS footage on the Bluray. I spoke to the director at length about the movie and he told me a good bit of addtional stuff about the making of the film. It really was a labor of love.
If you find the "vintage approach intriguing," you should watch 'The Love Witch.' That movie looks like it came from the 70s, even though it's obviously set in current times.
I'll have to check this out.....Manborg was fantastic.
O FUCK YEAH !!! MAN-BORG 4 THE WIN
Sorry I'm late. Thanks for the video!! Only 72 more to go! I mean damn, that's insane!
Cool, I'm gonna check this out.
Man, I can still hear the Vestron music...the good ole days.
I need to see this movie
The Editor is gold!
My little short film Bad Acid had a Graham Humphrey poster!
Gonna see this one now
On the very, very slim chance that anyone is happening upon this in the year 2020, month January - The Editor is now playing on Amazon Prime UK
7:12 - “At one point the spider was just some glued-together Q-tips.” It’s a tarantula, and it’s pipe cleaners, not Q-tips. How do you get those confused?
Great Video!!! Can you please do Maniac Cop 3?! I've been waiting for that for like a year!!! Thanks, keep up the good work!
Mr. Frisky Whiskers that was the best one
I gave up on it midway through, but it’s original at least. Very nice poster art...
Gotta see this
Goddamit now i wanna watch this flick
