I love how you can clearly tell how much Team Cherry has improved their boss design by the fact that all four of the semifinalists are DLC bosses.
The reason they’re all so fun is probably because the devs could focus on making the fight as fun as possible since when you fight most of them your supposed to have completed the game, thus they can focus less on how the boss fits in progression and more on how much fun it is to fight it

The emotional intensity of battling THK makes it, not only my favorite boss in Hollow Knight, but my favorite boss in any game ever. Him trying to commit suicide sent me chills the first time and made me tear up. I love this fight and the music is just *chef kiss*.
I agree. I think the main downside of THK is, that if you got all upgrades the fight is just too easy because you can just face tank him. But in for example in Speedruns with bad equipment he is so much fun

The Mantis Lords were my favorite boss before God Master, the Sisters of Battle was my favorite after God Master. And its good to see the Community crowned the Sisters of Battle as the Queens of Battles
Sisters of Battle are my favorite but tbh doing Sisters on ascended or higher isn't much fun because the fight takes too long and doesn't feel that rythmic anymore.
@@ashiok1011 True, the reason they are so good was cause there's such a good rhythm to it. Like an elegant dance between 4 warriors fighting all at the same time. On Ascended...yeah no...it just drags too long and the elegant dance of fighters becomes a button mash
@@duskgaming18 does it really though? The rhythm of the fight doesn’t change, just the pacing. You have to expect phase two to happen at a different time and for each sister to be KO’d later, but it isn’t like double damage is changing their AI pattern. Besides, I don’t think very many, if any, boss battles in this game can really be called a button mash.
@@pierreaoun9600 That's fair, but it still kinda over stays it welcome cause Phase 1 lasts way too long, and Phase 2 lasts even longer. And you're just waiting for it to end

I never got Hive Knoght because he is so late game and with decent equipment you can just stand in front of him, spam attack for one minute straight and occasionally jump to avoid the attack. I think he would be fun though if it was an early to mid game boss.

Either way i still think this boss is above average and a good addition for the lifeblood update along with traitor lord buff, its just way too easy because once you get to ancient basin you already got a hang of the game

Dang, people really don't like the collector? He has such an interesting mechanic and the distorted music really sets the mood. The unending laughter is a bit annoying but he is still my favorite boss.

They probably just prefer great nailsage sly and broken vessel more. Kind of the thing with brackets is the rankings get more accurate the closer to the finals you get, but comparing a left boss to a right side boss is never considered. I like collector and I think many do, but it isn’t collector as a boss, it’s collector vs the other arguably better three choices.

My 8 favorite godhome fights are sheo, nkg, soul tyrant, collector, pure vessel, broken vessel, lost kin, and failed champion. They're mostly different from each other but I really love all of them!

Very interesting way of setting up the bracket. I wonder how it would’ve looked like if after the initial round 1, it became one on one match ups rather than three per round, though that would’ve taken so much more time lol
Honestly, I thin it had less to do with the fight and more with how much people like Sheo as a character
Sheo is amazingly fun to me. A well respected fight I never really liked, on the other hand, is Sly. I never found it fun.
Sheo is pretty simple and easy, but i just love how fun and creative it is.
@@pixelation6224 I always thought of Sly as a pretty hard boss, but I think they should've added more variety to his attacks. Once you get the strategy down, you can win every time. It's like a puzzle.
when first running through it in p2 i didnt really like it, beating it on radiant changed my mind and its one of my favourites now
The Pure Vessel is my absolute favorite, he is the best fight, (sisters of battle is just a little too easy for me) the lore behind him is awsome, his attacks are awsome, fighting him feels like a dance, finaly the detail of him haveing no boss roar/yell is amazing to me because he has "No mind to think, no will to break... No voice to cry suffering"

I’ve never heard anyone who’s beaten Absrad on ascended or radiant say they didn’t enjoy the fight, so I feel like most people that voted haven’t even fought her.

I'm curious as to why both Radiance fights were forgotten in the bracket stage. Perhaps it's because her fights are some of the hardest to get to?
Not a lot of people take the time to beat her and master her moveset at all due to how hard it is. It also doesn't help that Abs Rad takes forever to beat in the pantheon(still working on it baby). Not everyone is willing to practice for hours and hours just to get an in-game achievement and a cool cutscene. Once you actually get her down I think both fights can be really fun and intense, but getting to that point takes FOREVER.
I beat pantheon 5 and I will say abs rad has a little too much rng. The amount of times I would get the missiles with the side scroll lazer was just annoying. It is the hardest boss but part if it is due to the rng
@@alexandertonchev1639 That isn't dependent on rng though. The column laser ALWAYs comes after the second barrage of missiles. You just have to position yourself right. The only thing rng about the fight is her spawn points in the platform phase.
@@thesnatcher3616 it’s not true for normal radiance. You just have to fight a semi boss to get to her. Moreover, it’s a hard fight but clearly not nearly as hard as king of nightmare Grimm or pure vessel, which are two of the most beloved fight.

NKG, Pure Vessel, and SoB are the clear big 3 of hollow knight bosses

I absolutely love the sisters of battle giving the fact that i got caught of guard by the three of them jumping in the arena but still I’m a huge fan of this game’s lore and seeing pure vessel and fighting him was extremely epic

My boi Xero got MASSACRED🥶 I thought he was a cool intro to the dream bosses, had kind of an interesting backstory thingy, and his design and voice queues were kinda cool too. And the music fits so well in his fight in my opinion haha. Not even close to one of my favorites, but they did him dirtyyyy😂💀

When NKG lost I was sad. But not surprised. When I saw these 2 titans where going 1 against the other I knew it would have been a tough fight. To me, they are the 2 best bossfight in the game. Truly the best bossfights I've ever run into.
I think it’s pretty ridiculous that neither Radiance forms got out of the first round. For me Regular radiance or absrad is easily my 4th favourite fight in the game. I can understand not liking one of them, but if you dislike both I really recommend trying them again with a spell build.
Then there’s GPZ and Sly which should have made it out too, but that’s alright I guess.

I was expecting radiance to escape the first bracket. It was a fun fight as a melee main. What was even funnier for me was realizing after beating radiance that howling spirits was a thing

Why most casuals thought people voted for Broken Vessel/Lost Kin over other bosses: The mechanics of his fight were more fun, his aesthetic, fun challenge etc etc.
Why people actually voted for BV/LK: Either A. "A sword fighter the same size as me? Hell yeah!" Or B. "My sweet little babu deserves the world and I refuse to let them be merely left behind!"

i genuinely really enjoy gorb as a fight, you find him relatively early on and the dodging while easy is very satisfying and fun to do, it really feels like threading tue needle, while it falls off later on i like the horn fight a lot

I think the reasons that the Broken Vessel and Lost Kin got so far weren't for the mechanics of the battle, but more so for the emotion. This is the part of the game where you begin to realize just... who you are, and I think that hit hard for a lot of people.

The Mantis Lords are a boss fight without flaws. For me and a lot of players, it's the moment Hollow Knight both clicks and opens up. Their position in the game is perfect and the fact that the Sisters or Battle make that extremely refined fight even tighter, past the point of a diamond, whilst still being fair is a testament to their design.
Nightmare King Grimm is the best, though.
I just really wish SOB actually lasted more than thirty seconds. When all three mantis lords are there, it’s a fantastic fight but the other 70% of the fight is just kinda boring.
I think Sisters of Battle is a TINY bit worse just cuz it doesn’t feel as rythmatic as Mantis Lords
Holy crap I had no idea that sisters of battle would win. Not knowing this channel or being a part of the community, but seeing this video pop up in my recommendations is hilarious because when I went through the god home, sisters of battle was my favorite fight too.

i was happy to see that the sisters of battle were the winners i just LOVE the pace and difficulty of the fight. It is my favourite boss fight in the game and i love it.
When it came to the top 3, it was a tough fight between Grey Prince Zote, with his fast attack patterns and flair, Grey Prince Zote, whose character and tragic backstory are second to none, and the one and only, ever iconic Grey Prince Zote. But at the end of the day, I had my hopes up for Grey Prince Zote and they were realised. The community have spoken and they have spoken the truth, as the infallible Grey Prince Zote comes out on top.

If you ask me, the reason broken vessel beat out sly was because of what a great story beat that fight is. that was the most magical fight in the game for me. That animation that plays when you get to his arena for the first time is when what the infection was clicked for me. the orange all made sense.

It's definitively the most wtf moment in this tournament. Broken vessel is hilariously slow and easy, sly is a super dynamic and exciting fight.

The Broken Vessel is my favourite boss in the game. I didn't expect them to win, but seeing both them and the dream variant make it past the first round makes me very happy.

I was routing for Broken Vessel and just kept dying inside whenever you trashed on it 😭
I wasn’t sure about Sisters of Battle but when I think about it, it’s a fight where you don’t kill them, they just acknowledge your strength after. That means they’re badass and honorable and can’t be destroyed so they deserve that top spot.
I mean, lets be honest there never was a single doubt that the top 3 would end up in the top 3. Sheo was quite surprising, but tbf, there werent any other fights as awesome as the top 3, so i had no clue who could have ended up as 4th anyways.

@@legrandliseurtri7495 imo they shouldnt have won. i think they're overrated.
So this is kind of the folly of brackets, because their setups and victories can change if some were rearranged from the start. This works if you're trying to figure out the #1 boss (imo should have been between NKG and Sisters, but we all knew one of them would win) because no matter who it's up against it'd win all the way to the end, but when it comes to the quarter through final rounds (even 2nd place) the rankings are iffy, and can go awry even in the early bracket stage, if you're trying to order rank them via how far they made it.
For example, if Broken Vessel and Sheo were switched so that Sheo was against Sly - Sly would very likely have won that (not by a huge margin) - and yet Broken Vessel got destroyed by Sheo. Imo this would put Sly in the Quarterfinals at the very least, maybe took 4th overall unless he faced Broken Vessel again (I agree with you, I am surprised he lost to Broken Vessel, but I think Sly was faced against the lore instead of the fight itself whereas with another opponent like Sheo first, people would have to actually consider Sly's fight more since Sheo is less fan-lore-ey, and such considerations may have affected a future matchup in his favor too - just speculation though).
As for the final 4 rankings, I feel like people would pick NKG for at least 2nd place over Pure Vessel, but PV had an easy match against Sheo followed by an impossible match, while NKG had what should have been the finals match with the Sisters during semis.
I think the rest of the matchups are fine because they are somewhat negligible or marginal when weighed against each other (Radiance and Absolute's biggest problems are getting to either one - people get tired of fighting HK every time they need to try against Radiance again, and then the whole entire thing with Absolute), but the standout things I'm iffy about are the above mentioned things. Maybe it's just me but I feel the community would also agree (Pure Vessel seems to be considered harder while NKG is better I think, though the first time fighting NKG he is generally considered harder, he's more adaptable and easier to read, becomes easier in consecutive fights while PV sort of levels out a tier higher on consistent difficulty with consecutive fights - NKG is easier to read after enough exposure, basically). Though I might be wrong about that. I am curious if you were to put the final 4 here against each other in their own bracket, and ranked them based on their %s in that particular match. I imagine it would be Sisters(1) - NKG(2) - PV(3) - Sheo(4) in that case.
Before the vid, my thoughts on a top 4 would have been:
NKG (1) -> Sisters (2) (I am _slightly_ surprised Sisters won even though I knew it would be close) -> PV (3) -> Sentinel Hornet (4) (figured 4th would be more a fan favorite thing, less about how good a fight it was vs some potentially better ones, but of the two Hornet fights would still obviously pick the better one - to be honest I'm surprised she didn't make it here, and lost it to Sheo in the end?).

Honestly, it is weird in my opinion that sisters of battle made it SO far.
Ngl its a great boss, but it is not as memorable or "hard but fair" as PV and NKG.

My personal preference would be nkg, as it is overwhelming at first but a learnable and very fair boss, if you put the brain matter in to "learn him".

I think the main reason Sisters of Battle hit hard was because by the time you reach P5, you've kind of grown used to all of the bosses in this game, as technically, you expect to just do all of the previous pantheons in a row. Sisters of Battle, though, is meant to be a curveball, showing you that you can't predict the Pantheon of Hallownest.
I have never enjoyed a fight more than sisters of battle. Sure it felt great to beat AR but after all the grind you get used to the stages up until the climb. But SoB are so fucking fun to play on repeat. The battle is fast paced, keeps you on your toes and it never feels unfair or RNG-ish. Just an all around well designed figth.
Personally I think the challenge and diversity of attacks provided by The Radiance makes it the best boss in the game
Definitely agree if we're going with which is objectively best. Favorite however? Sheo will never be beaten out for me

Dude, Sly is like the closest you can get to fighting Yoda (besides Star Wars Battlefront), and it's *AWESOME*
When I boot up Hollow Knight to chill and fight some bosses, I always go for Sly, PV, NKG or Sisters.
I NEVER fight Sheo for fun

Tho I seriously respect sly he just killed me too much for me to enjoy him

i'm not a big fan of sly, his last phase is cool and the pogo off of his whirwind move is super cool too, but most the hits i take is from his deceptivly big and sometime unclear aoe onhis basic attacks. compare that to a sob or a nk grimm fight, those are super fast but the moves are clear when you get hit you know exactly why you screwed.+ the fact that sly don't have much hp but leaves little uptime to hit him is less satisfying too i always feel like i have to go there with a bunch of soul and burst him asap before taking some cheap shots. while vs manti grimm and hk and the enhanced versions i'm tinking , let's dance for for bit.

Top of S was soul Tyrant and the bottom of “mega F” was watcher knights. Sisters of battle making a close 3rd worst. Sheo being one of the best
