Aye Patrick,I see the “nice” in that car,I really like green muscle cars from the late 60’s and early 70’s especially Chevelles..to me they are one of the first real muscle cars,along with GTO’s and early mopar hemis and Ford 427 side oilers..but you are the “g.o.a.t.”of chevelle enthusiast especially 70’s LS5 and 6 cars,your like a chevelle professor,I learn so much from your videos...wish I could buy you a beer!
One day, in the distant past, that car was somebody’s pride and joy - and now its a very sad mess which people would debate restoring due to neglect, rust and missing parts. I cannot understand how someone could let such a neat car go to waste. What a shame.
The SS 396 Chevelle was my first car , blue, white interior, black vinyl roof. No AC PS PB 4 speed 12 bolt no positive traction and yes the the mighty 396-375 HP the factory rated 375 HP was is under rated more like 450. Car was very fast for a 16 yr old kid
I've had no less than20 or so 70 chevelles over my life 3 of them convertibles. But my last chevelle was a 69 rag top was my favorite. I could rebuild that car with my eyes closed
As said by many viewers. This is extremely sad. What’s sadder is most of the time the owners refuse to sell them. Excuse : someday they’ll get around to fixing it. So sad 😭

So sad to see cars left like this. I get that people’s dreams sometimes exceed the financial ability. I had to let my 66 Lincoln continental go. I had started a family and with 2 sons and a mortgage , fixing up my car wasn’t practical. But I couldn’t stand to let it sit and rot. I basically gave it away, just so someone could enjoy it, hoping the buyer had resources to get that gorgeous car back on the road.

My older brother had one, same year too, had it painted cherry red. He had it for years when he went into the service then he got rid of it for some reason, never said why. Boy was that thing ever sweet.

I grew up looking at one much like this one. Green 69 ss 396 4sp 12 bolt. Sitting behind a home going to hell. Owner would not sell it because it was sentimental. Belonged to her husband who passed. I understand keeping something like that but watching it rot away is such a shame.
A 60 Thousand Dollar rotisserie frame up restoration all day long if it is saved now. Another 3-5 years - it'll be history and junk. It is a shame when owners have lofty plans for a classic car in need of restoration when they can't afford to build a garage, or even put a good car cover over it!
If I could buy it, I would restore it, it would take me 10 years to do it, but I would restore it. I don't care if it would cost me $50,000, over a 10 year period it could be saved.

I was thinking why don't you have a quick summary one of yourthoughts on what happened to some of the cards you found if they were fixed left to rot or sold breaks my heart to see those cars repairable and just watch away that's money the owners are just throwing awayit makes no sense that car could bring someone else a lot of happiness and joy and start new memories but once it gets beyond repairable that's it it's over all for nothing
Its not so much question of can it be saved....but can it be bought.... Over the years l have tried many times, to buy hard to find vehicles and antique tractors alike. That have sat neglected for many years just like this Chevelle.....9 times out of 10 they can't be purchased for any amount of money😞.......some of the owners seem to enjoy having something valuable and then neglecting it, meanwhile getting pleasure from the fact that no one can get it from them. it's super frustrating to see these classics rust anyway to nothing. I have met others that are super friendly that tell you the history of the vehicle and let you photograph it and so on..... There are all types😃.. Thanks for your great Videos

Kinda similar how I found my triple green 70' SS 454 Monte Carlo! It was in great shape and in about 1992 but a drunk lady in an Olds 442 smashed me with no insurance...argh!

Hope somebody saves this car. I had a 69 sport coupe that was this color green, black top and interior. It had a white pinstripe and was painted silver below the chrome that is on the non ss models. It looked good ,drove great but the 307 engine was the must gut less chevy engine that I ever owned. I had a 64 with a 283 4 barrel that would run circles around the 307. My grandparents bought a new chevelle every 5 years and I would buy them for whatever the dealer would offer them for trade in. The first one was a 64, the first year they came out, then a 69 and a 74. The 64 was the only one that was a 4 door and it came from the factory with a 283 4 barrel and dual exhaust. For some reason it had a ss emblem on the trunk lid. It ran very good for a small V8. It out ran many so called muscle cars that had a lot more cubic inches. It was a 2 speed power glide and I would shift out of low at 85 mph! I remember it had a box under the dash by the e=brake release called a service-o-cater, I think, that would spit out a card telling you it was time for you to take it back to the dealer for service. I have never seen one in any other car.

With nearly every piece of that car available for repair, there is no good reason for it to be sitting there as a yard trophy. True emotional attachment would want it restored to its former glory.
My dad gave me the exact same car win I was 17 and I was young and dumb and had a lot of fun in it. really Wish I would have kept it for my kids to enjoy
what would be really cool on your barn finds is when you found someone to restore one, if you were able to stay in touch and show any updates to see how they turned out.....anyway, you're having more fun than one person should be allowed. :)
Why would anybody let that waste away. Looks like it's being parted out little at a time. Shame. Love to have that engine. L35: 325 gross hp at 4,800 rpm Oval port cast-iron heads, Holley 4-barrel carb through 1967, Quadrajet 4-barrel starting in 1968, 10.25:1 compression ratio, two-bolt main caps, forged steel crankshaft (through 1967). Available in most full-size passenger cars, Camaros, and Novas through 1972.
Boy that one is a lost cause! MAYBE a few parts but thats about it, way too much rust(cancer) in that body. That 396 engine is worth more than the car is. It could be restored, but it would cost more money than its worth to make it pristine condition.
Damn..I wasn't aware one could get a 69 chevelle with side vents on a non AC car. When the door opened it was first thing I looked at and said dam its also an AC car. But then i seen the non ac control panel and no center vent....astro ventilation I'm guessing
I wish i never sold my girl. Orange SS, black top, white interior, m21 4speed (wide ratio on 4th gear which i kinda hated, always wanted m22 rock crusher), posi. As a16 year old, I got her for $1200 in 1987, built the 396 with balance, comp cam, roller chain roller rockers, 10:1pistons, hv oil pump, alum intake, 850 holley dbl pmpr, headers and of course raunchy Sonic Turbo muffs. Lol. Raised hell speed shifting, ruining rear tires, lost license twice (for points accumulation lol dumb kid), sold it for $2500 in 1993 and thought i was doing SO good to get that much for it. Gawd. Been looking for it all these years, to buy it back. VIN was 136379z320500 if i remember right. Sigh.....
If you only knew back then what they would truly be worth. I had a 79 chevy monza that was converted to a 350 and had the 308 posi rear end. That rear end was kind of rare for that car. I sold it to buy my now ex an engagement ring. If I had only known. That car wasn't even closely compared to a chevelle but i liked it and it was fast as hell.

So it was done right and he sold it to me pretty cheap. $2000. He didn't even drive it for a full year. I could never figure out why. It had to cost more then that to buy and put that engine and trans in that car. I was lucky. Then I sell it for a woman id divorce down the road. So many bad decisions guys make for a damn women. Lol
Just like everybody else that saw this video. It's ah shame to see it rot away like that. If you ever make your way over to Lewes De. On rt23 there's a guy with all kinds of old Camaros Nova's Chevelle's Corvettes GOT's you name it he's got it. For the last 30 yrs I've watched these cars that probably still savable just sit and rot away. And he will not sell any of them

A lot of people said they would look after it until the son came home from the war. Some did not return. Sentimental reasons are real.

Any car is restorable. It all depends on how fat your wallet is.
I think once the frame is gone it,s gone, not saying this frame is gone but looking from the sheetmetal more than likely. my opinion.
Sitting on the damp ground isn't the best thing for the undercarriage...

You can change the frame ..skylark olds and pontiac frames along with chevelle are all interchangable frames not numbers matching but they will work.

If my memory serves me, my '69 had the 325hp Big Block with the Turbo 400 trans, where the 4spds like this one came with 350hp Big Block ;-)

PA is loaded with treasures like this all over my father and I used to buy em all over pa like this and would love to get back to buying them again
With nearly every piece of that car available for repair, there is no good reason for it to be sitting there as a yard trophy. True emotional attachment would want it restored to its former glory.

My dad gave me the exact same car win I was 17 and I was young and dumb and had a lot of fun in it. really Wish I would have kept it for my kids to enjoy
what would be really cool on your barn finds is when you found someone to restore one, if you were able to stay in touch and show any updates to see how they turned out.....anyway, you're having more fun than one person should be allowed. :)

I like seeing these old classic muscle cars come to life.. its rewarding to the makers and puts America back where we belong!
Boy that one is a lost cause! MAYBE a few parts but thats about it, way too much rust(cancer) in that body. That 396 engine is worth more than the car is. It could be restored, but it would cost more money than its worth to make it pristine condition.
Were the plug wires on the left bank of the engine spliced together? Never seen that before.
Damn..I wasn't aware one could get a 69 chevelle with side vents on a non AC car. When the door opened it was first thing I looked at and said dam its also an AC car. But then i seen the non ac control panel and no center vent....astro ventilation I'm guessing
That was my first thought too..an A/C car! ..not though once be opens hood

I wish i never sold my girl. Orange SS, black top, white interior, m21 4speed (wide ratio on 4th gear which i kinda hated, always wanted m22 rock crusher), posi. As a16 year old, I got her for $1200 in 1987, built the 396 with balance, comp cam, roller chain roller rockers, 10:1pistons, hv oil pump, alum intake, 850 holley dbl pmpr, headers and of course raunchy Sonic Turbo muffs. Lol. Raised hell speed shifting, ruining rear tires, lost license twice (for points accumulation lol dumb kid), sold it for $2500 in 1993 and thought i was doing SO good to get that much for it. Gawd. Been
looking for it all these years, to buy it back. VIN was 136379z320500 if i remember right. Sigh.....
If you only knew back then what they would truly be worth. I had a 79 chevy monza that was converted to a 350 and had the 308 posi rear end. That rear end was kind of rare for that car. I sold it to buy my now ex an engagement ring. If I had only known. That car wasn't even closely compared to a chevelle but i liked it and it was fast as hell.

@@bobvincent4841 it was fast, I loved that little car. IMy brothers wife's dad, went through a mid life crisis, bought the monza and paid someone to build and put that 350 in it. So it was done right and he sold it to me pretty cheap. $2000. He didn't even drive it for a full year. I could never figure out why. It had to cost more then that to buy and put that engine and trans in that car. I was lucky. Then I sell it for a woman id divorce down the road. So many bad decisions guys make for a damn women. Lol

Just like everybody else that saw this video. It's ah shame to see it rot away like that. If you ever make your way over to Lewes De. On rt23 there's a guy with all kinds of old Camaros Nova's Chevelle's Corvettes GOT's you name it he's got it. For the last 30 yrs I've watched these cars that probably still savable just sit and rot away. And he will not sell any of them
A lot of sheetmetal work... worth fixing considering mostly all the parts are pretty much still there
