Although every competitive player in Rocket League has the same objective, there are so many different playstyles that people use to go about achieving it. Today, I'm going to show you how to play against 5 of the most common playstyles so you can take advantage of the weaknesses of any team you go against.

Many people tend to ask themselves, "What is the best playstyle in Rocket League?" But what I think is a more important question is, "How do you play against any playstyle in Rocket League?" The reason I think this question is more important is because there is no one particular playstyle that is the BEST. Some playstyles may work in more situations than others but every playstyle has its weaknesses. So if you can successfully diagnose which playstyle you should use to counter the style your opponents are using, that's truly the best way to play Rocket League. Imagine you're playing rock paper scissors with someone and when they throw out their hand, you get to quickly change your hand to whatever you want. That's the type of advantage you get if you pay attention to these details about your opponents' playstyle.

The most annoying thing is inconsistent opponents. They always keep missing, until I finally decide to go for a challenge
Just let them do their thing and wait it out lmao unless it’s dangerous
YES
Play slightly more defensive and when they miss just plow it in their goal.
Yep, I don't know when they'll hit the ball.
When they miss, I don't go for it.
When they hit it, I go for it.
Then they're gonna say "StOp DouBle ComMittiNg".
@@locke_ytb ikr happens to me SO OFTEN
Playstyle 6: The faker
Sporadically whiffs the ball, and occasionally spams "Faking."
Xd
Yaah, that's me. 50% of the time it works 100% of the time.
You don't need to attack the entirety of champ like this. We already know we're bad.
honestly me 80% of the time but normally on accident and I don't spam chat.
I fake sometimes too but i take it too the next level. I don't usually text "faking" but fakes anyway but then sometimes texts faking to fake my faking and just play completely normally and sometimes actually fake so they'll have to guess if it's a fake, fake or a fake
when sunless and mertzy and wayton aploud at the same time WOW
sunless and mertzy uploaded 30 sec between lol

Yea relief
Outstanding work as always Wayton my friend. I love the effort and quality of the edits. As well as the increased amount of content you are putting out. Great stuff.
I’ve been doing demo strats from gold to Champ and not once have I see a side flip dodge, always a straight up jump. You’re making my life hard
diamond 3, seen about an equal amount of jumps and corner flips. it's good to keep all possibilities in mind. sometimes a bump is more useful than a demo.
Agreed lmao
@Yuri Lopes yeah I do that already and it triggers them bad XDDDD
Dude there brain must fry when I do it LMAO
@Yuri Lopes I did that the other day except I caught the guy on top of my car and dribbled him away so my teammate could score.
Plot twist: what happends if the *Adapter* adapts to his counter playstile?
Well I think that's thr hard part. I think it generally comes to who is able to continue adapting
Thats just what makes top players top players
they cant because they have to wait for the player to change his playstyle
Fakes usually help :P
The best matches in rocket League.
your videos are allways helpful to me! I was stuck in gold for almost 6 months and i ended up getting out of it and into plat because of these videos! The one that helped me the most was the "32 mistakes you're probably making" I really like these videos and i think you are an amazing youtuber! Youre videos have helped me so much!
How are People still in the low ranks?
@@Dulle463 because they’re new?
@@atlasjack1152 I know, but- nvm, yeah ur right.
sheeeeesh, 2 uploads in 1 week, time to get that rank up now :)
About the mechanical-side style of players, I find it best to just keep it cool, conserve your boost, play passive, make a save and then just counter-attack. All those aerial tricks and stuff puts them often way out of position. Especially in 1s and 2s. So far, I've met only one player that it didn't work out and he was unranked in 1s in diamond 2, so I assume he was like high GC/SSL recalibrating after not playing 1s for some time.

and... And the graphics... that's what this is really all about
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAAAHHH BABYYYYYY
I have more issues with the teammates, per example:
The Goalie.
Gives away the midfield and never has the save because he gets overrun.
Usually gets toxic or leaves because they blame the teammate that does pressure for creating a 2v1 and are in denial of how bad their saves are.
The Double Committer.
Usually booms every ball , chases every ball into the corner and never plays the last man position.
If you dribble he will even clear it away, often leaving your team without boost and an open net.
The Delusional Mechanical "God".
Goes up for every ball, uses all his boost so he never has any left to recover and spams "take the shot" when ever he misses (which is everytime) to act like it was a pass and not that he missed.
this just made me laugh so hard
It's soooo trueee thoooo
But Im good at being goalie and ball chasingg
@@Manderinz A good goalie is one who puts pressure up and doesn't sit in net without momentum.

Omg thank you, I was literally just realizing yesterday that I need to somehow figure out how to play against specific people/moves 🙏❤️😊
Hi wayton! I’m literally saving up for your gamrsrdy coaching 😂
This is sweet of you but not necessary. There are discords dedicated to free coaching and the official rocket league discord has people in it who are willing to teach you a couple things as well. :)
play with higher ranked players willing to teach you a bit/watch replays with you, you will improve much faster! and the tips will also apply better to you! im sure wayton would tell you so too
@@TheZombiesInfected But it is also way to support him
Just get a life lmao
Better off just playing more and doing freeplay drills
Me and my friend have a very specific play style. I’m the mechanical one (I specialise is dribbles and air plays) whilst he specialises in consistently being a absolute menace to the opponents.
bro but for real, this video needs way more attention, this has helped me so much in games, thanks wayton!
Thanks for your content, I’m new to RL and your videos help
You definitely deserve more subs man best how too videos out there for rocket league.
Thanks a lot Wayton, this also helped me to pick my playstyle
Been on a win streak through all the playlists. Thanks!
Big thing for playstyle 4 against the mechanics: Because this is very regular in gc and above, a big tip is to play the opponent and not the ball. So if he is going for an airdribble or a dribble, challenge him early, but don't go for the ball, go for the bump/kill on the opponent. This causes the opponent to lose control on the ball and the teammate behind you can pick it up for easy possession
Your edits are so clean - keep it up ✌️
finally I was looking for this video topic thx man appreciated
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how he talks about howtodefeat ballchasing opponents that outragoes and amazing, great vid
I love your content wayton keep up the good work.
This video was very helpful. I didn't knew about any of these playstyles 😂. Thanks.
Thank you for all the good tips
my daily dose of awesomeness love ur content
Your insane I’ve just come over from apex and already feel myself improving by following your tips
This video helped alot!
THX SO MUCH IVE BEEN HOPING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS
Nice I love this video since it really helps me.
With method 2 you could always drive up around the goal and jump back down for the save with the extra flip you’ll have (which is a bit harder for lower ranks but still lol)
The interesting mind game is knowing when a player or team will adapt or not adapt to something. Like you said beating an adapting team by changing your playstyle is like level 1, but for an adapter player they'd know that you might not continue you to be aggressive and be aggressive themselves to predict your change.
Obviously im simplifying it but i think it would come down to overall experience in playing, where a pro would feel like hes living in your head rent free haha.
Though I'm taking this from playing fighting games rather than RL as im pretty new to RL. It's just interesting to see the parallels. But you also have to master a lot of things before you can play in that mindset!
I am a kind of an adapter, but I'm nowere near GC, bu this vid helped me to read things even more, so tnx!
epic content bro u are so helpful :)
Great content 🔥
I always try to adapt. For example, when someone is really good at dribbling and flicks, I always immediately say to the dude I am playing with to make sure they get less ball possession and we need to pressure them more etc.
This will help me a lot in Rocket league ❤️
I needed this
DEMOZZZZZZ
this video actually helped a lot. especially the Demoer playstyle.
This will help me a lot.
I play duos with my friend (we are platinos, yeah not to much :/)
An ALLWAYS match with:
-Bumpers
-Ballchasers with 1000 of turbo
-2 ballkeepers thats just move to have the rebounds a score
8:38 absolut mega pinch. Great video Wayton.
I love these strategic Rocket League view.
Although it’s evident in my videos that I love demoing (which is a good playstyle), I actually try to be an adaptive payer when taking it seriously. No, I’m not SSL, Or even GC, but I’m in diamond, mostly because I haven’t set aside the time to practice hard mechanics.
bro the ballchaser one helped me so much because im in a lower rank and everyone just ballchases
I feel completely identified with the adapter playstyle, fun fact you just said you find em on GC and actually I am a GC, I play like that because of there's no other way to get out of champs, specially on C3... sometimes you get chasers, others people that pass the ball when no needed, full time defenders etc... and all that you can do is ADAPT to they're damn kind of play and fix their mistakes
Awesome vid
nice vid very useful
I play the ‘adapter’ style (I stay on the ground for the first few minutes depending on the player then do aerials when they least expect it)
It always works
I had to scroll before watching. 1:37 in and we’re still promoting some money scheme. These creators gettin BOLD! They gon’ learn today doe lmao
Against people who mix it up a lot, I like to focus on aerial plays and play a little bit of banger ball and trust that I am faster. If most of the possession is open and both teams have to attack the ball, there isn't much room for unpredictability to enter their plays and that enables me to rely less on reading their plays and more on my own plans.
side flip to avoid the demo is amazing thanks !
this waytoney guy is really good
do a video on how to adapt to your teamates playstyles fo solo queue
I'm Daimond and slowly transferring to the adapter playstyle from the attack and defense style
Surprisingly a adapter can happen way earlier as long as you have the right idea and to learn how to do it well I am a gold three while my cousin we talk on the phone because we don’t have mics and we want to communicate is a platinum 2
FINALLY GOD THE VIDEO CAME OUT
Can you make a video on how to tell whet play style is best for you
new wayton video's here, inner peace
Thanks! I always like no! This is a chaser I am done even if is a low ranked player now I understand and I can finally learn my plat freind cause he sucks against a typical playstyle
ROAD TO 1 MILLION 🔥🔥🔥
I don't really have a playstyle and I don't really adapt to the enemy, I just adapt to my teammates so we can work better all together
That looks great :)
@@cixlin , I'm not very experienced, but if you don't have an exact playstyle, and you just adapt to your teammates, if you adapted to your opponents as well, it could be very helpful.
@@cixlin I'm Plat (lol) so I don't know if it's helpful but you should play like your teammate to coordinate better attacks. (If he is very aggresive you should be careful tho)
@@cixlin I think so, with powershots

"All players must be over 15 years of age to participate in Rocket League"
*sigh*
Wow nice video
Let’s get this man to 1 mil subs
Ty I have been on a 15 game lose streak in 3's
Does two adapters adapting to each other cause the spectators to score?
Damnn I wanna try in the cup but I don't have a team and am only 15
Rip but I'll definitely be implementing stuff from this video
when i play with friends we rotate playstyles throughout the match but if i solo queue i read my team8s playstyle and i keep the same one so its not confusing for them
An experienced demoer playstyle is the hardest to play against. You don't need a demo, they will usually try to dodge so what you need to do is just brake before the demo to fake it, and then after they jump. You can start dribbling them awaay or get a bump on them afterwards because you faked the demo, thus killing their momentum.
how to play against the adapter: adapt to their adapting
Good idea but what if they adapt to you adapting to their adapting

wayton is the best coach no one can change my opinion
Honestly, I usually come across teammates that are hard to work around than opponents. Which ends up making it hard to work around opponents.
Wayton I don’t give them room if I have to cut rotation cause my teammate is not attacking giving them so much room I’m not like that
the video we've all been waiting for
Tysm
I love your vids
You do actually see number 5 used a lot in the lower ranks- a lot of people just don’t notice it though bc they don’t have the brains to watch their opponents- I think most people do it on accident without noticing
I have to say, this is an ORIGINAL video. I’ve never seen a video that discusses what to do against different playstyles. However I’ve mentioned it a lot in several creators’ comments.
Thank you for doing this.
Also, I appreciate you mentioning the “demoer”
Now I can prevent getting demoed 8 times in one game by Woody🤡
What is worse than tough opponents is tough teammates. You should make a video on how to play with different kids of teammates (ballchasers, people who just stay in net, whiffers, etc)
Can you do a video on adapting to teammates please?
wayton what are your camera settings?
I went from bronze to champ just from this vid keep it up
That seems kind of unrealistic...
what i like to do is force my opponent to chase like putting a seemingly easy shot when actually i know they cant hit it and immediatly counterattack and score a free goal. im in low plat for 1s and im starting to notice it wont work as well anymore as they can hit the angle. but i just need to be a bit closer to the ball. the funnyest part is it makes them really upset because everytime they hit it i always redirect it but that just makes them more ballchasey. this works well in 1s but in 2s and 3s the opponents teammates usually steal the ball before i have time to get control
i.need.this.ty
The problem with the adapter or people who are smart know, hey we can adapt so lets predict how they will play next game.
Wayton Pilkin is a GOD COACH
The demoer one is me when I play with my d3 friend I double demoed the opponents a couple times and we scored on it lol
I’m not a super high rank, just barley diamond. But some of My grand champ friends I play with in 1v1s say all the time it’s hard to read what I’m doing because I play unpredictable while I’m trying to predict and adapt to what they do. Also been told I play pretty laid back because I do to much reading and not enough playing lol
Today’s the best day ever. Every single one of my favorite content creators released a video on the same day
You must have sad life then. I feel sorry for you. Don't worry it wil get better.
@@slovnicurling9808 can't tell if this a joke or not

because of you, i became diamond 3 when before i was silver
I’m am adapter, but when I have lots of boost I am a pressure player, like ball chaser but smart
Now I have to find another play style to beat my opponents🤣🤣
