  • Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a flare-free day! With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought that this would be a perfect time to talk about chocolate...cysts! Chocolate Cysts are surprisingly quite common in an endometriosis journey (also known as ovarian endometriomas). In today's video, I talk about what chocolate cysts / ovarian endometriomas are, some of the signs and symptoms that they may present, how they are diagnosed, and everything in between!
I'd be curious to see if you've ever heard about chocolate cysts before in your chronic illness journey or if you've experienced them yourself! Feel free to share in the comments down below.
As always, if you enjoy this type of content, feel free to like and subscribe for more!
I mention a 2015 study in this video on the relationship between chocolate cysts and fertility. You can read the full study here: academic.oup.com/humrep/artic...

I was diagnosed with endometriosis 6 months ago and on my last visit to the gynec they found a chocolate cyst in my right ovary. I have been on dinogest since, hoping it helps with the pain and shrinks the size of the cysts.
I just wanted to say thanks for advocating for endo, sometimes it feels better to know that there are other women out there I could reach out to who are going through something similar. :)

God bless you for sharing such knowledge with other women. I am one of them with painful chocolate cysts and I learned it after a lot of pain and misdiagnosis.

It's good that you state endometriomas can be detected on an ultrasound if large enough, as most resources I've come across say endometriosis can only be 100% diagnosed via laparoscopy. My gynaecologist confirmed my endo after my ultrasound and also after my mri scan.

This is very strange as I was up all night last night with what I suspect was a ruptured cyst. The pain was horrific and was my whole abdomen. I was sick and had diarrhea and have been bleeding heavily. Horrible.

I’m thinking of you! I hope that the pain has subsided and that you received answers from your doctor 🤍
