I’m only a patient I’m getting my partial put in tomorrow my front 6 teeth on the top; this has gave me some great info on how dentists and the real unsung heroes, the lab technicians, think and operate. Great Video!
I think one of the biggest things to consider is that with a cast partial you can add teeth down the road, you cannot with a flexible partial, to add teeth you have to start all over with a whole new flexible partial.
I'd like to say this was helpful, but honestly, I was lucky if I understood half of what was said. Maybe his partial was loose and rolling around in his mouth.
I have valplast for the bottom and in my opinion I don't think its comfortable even after an adjustment i think for the top i want something other than valplast.
Can you talk about adding back molar to a partial? When is it required? And when oh, why is it not required? If you don’t have a tooth to put a class on the back please explain, thank you.
This is untrue you can add to any flex material if it is a semi crystalline material or a amorphus nylon material. One requires using a liquid to soften the current material before injecting the new material and the other requires raising the melting temp up by ten degrees prior to injecting the addition. If you need the info contact your supplier! Thanks
I am a retired dental hygienist and i can vouch for the fact that both Valplast (ihave had a one tooth flipper made of Valplast #3 for 9 years and also have a 2 tooth Duraflex partial on the opposite side #12 and #14. They work very well because i had Excellent impressions taken by my dentist and a lab who knows how to work with these materials. They are extremely comfortable and are not harming the teeth that they are resting on. I do not chew gum or eat gooey food. I take excellent care Of my teeth. I know this is very necessary for good results.
Thankyou for the info, my dentist tells a different story, but im suspicious of his information as it sometimes seems like hes just making things up, or being lazy.
I love my partial metal upper and lower dentures they’re so comfortable they don’t pop off while eating the lab did a great job… Bottom 1 & top 3 teeth, I want a 4th one for the top.... Cousin dentist says no you don’t need a back molar yes I do, LOL not cheap, even with family discount, lol 😝 $3200 CDN... you can add additional teeth to metal cast partials
Hi! I am 45 years old and I am missing four teeth in the upper jaw, two on each side, and I am thinking of using a metallic partial prosthesis but I have many doubts and I do not know what to do. So you recommend it to me? Do you eat well with it? Is one accustomed to its use? Thank you!
Here's something to consider with flexible. They are nylon. There is no mechanical bond. When the patient wears the teeth down to the diatoric holes. The denture teeth fall out and there's no good way to put them back in. Also. it's a bad choice if the patient will be losing more teeth as Nylon does not bond to Nylon and acrylic does not bond to Nylon. They also turn brown after a while..Other than that, they are great.
Seriously on the blue/green stone model #15 is still there. Please state if it has been extracted! If not that poor flimsy Valplaat will be rocking on the the placement of #18 is not in place.?!
I am just getting setup with partials. I don't know if they are plastic or I guess 1/2 medal and half plastic. I was wondering am I limited on what I can eat so I won't damage my new partials? I am getting tops and bottoms and missing most of my teeth I use to chew.
Kenny, I've been making partials for 17 years. A cast parial will be made of chromium and acrylic. There are a couple of things I'd recommend. First, partials break. They are eating and smiling tools not teeth. When you place the partial in your mouth.. try to insert as paralell as possible. this will reduce the stress on the clasps. and if it were me.. I'd get it rebased about every 3 years. Your natural teeth will wear the partial down and your opposing teeth will erupt into the spaces.. Keeping the partial rebased will help preserve your natural tooth height.. good luck, K
Missing the four back teeth on the bottom right and left both, can I get a partial, flexible or otherwise, that will be functional for eating? I need it for six to nine months while healing after implants. Can I get it as soon as two weeks after the extractions and implants are placed or will I be in trouble because of the gums shrinking as swelling goes down over a few months?
what is the metal used framework? cobalt chrome, palladium? i have metal allergies and was wondering what route to go. prefer the rigid metal frame as opposed to all acrylic.
Person speaking made it difficult to understand let alone hear because he was mummbling. What a waste of time and video. Speak clearly when video taping on RUclips PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
I am needing a partial denture made for one front tooth. I have lots of allergies, and was wondering if you tell me the composition so I can be tested, I do know I am allergic to Sodium Benzoate. Please I really need help, my dentist is unable to tell me.
All of the flexible partials I am aware of are made of vinyl. Vinyl is typically considered hypoallergenic. First, find out if your dentist actually makes flexible partial dentures. If he/she does they can obtain a small sample of the material from the lab. This sample can then be tested on your skin to gauge any reaction. The same could be done for the acrylic that dentures are typically made out of to test for a reaction. From my personal experience I have not seen an allergic reaction from a flexible partial in the 13 years I have been making them. All that aside... flexible partials typically do not work as well as acrylic partials for a one tooth partial to replace a front tooth(what many people call a flipper or thumb partial). They do work, just not as well. Good luck!
I recently got my temporary partial dentures and I am not able to eat on one side of my mouth. There is space between the top and bottom dentures they don't meet when trying to chew. Is this normal and am I stuck only using 1 side of my mouth?
thanks a lot for the video ! I try to use most of the times the combination of metal framework and maybe metal stops with the resin (nylon) in the esthetic zone. cheers from mx
I just got a Valplast upper partial. It's rigid though. I'm seeing a lot of stuff about the flexible ones, but that's certainly not what I have. Is mine an old style? Or is there more than one type of Valplast partials?
Russ F Hey Russ. Take a few pictures of your partial on a table (different angles) and either send it through Instagram (all things dentistry) or twitter (@all_things_dent). I’ll take a look and get back to you.
Hello Doctor! In a metal partial denture, Do the retaining hooks cause cavities in the parts where they are held? Would you recommend using one? I am 45 years old and I have four missing teeth in my upper jaw, two on each side. I have many doubts and I don't know what to do.
Your lower Valplast does not have the opposer to #15. You need to top #18. In order to make it functional. I ask you to take the time to get a back ground in dentistry. I beg you go educate your self on occlusion. Heads up....patients request all undercuts to be remove. Spend some time as a dental assistant fixing removables....it will help you make functional removable prosthetics.

Great Video!
i wish you were MY dentist! you tend to approach issues from all angles and weigh the pros/cons of each. you THINK! how very refreshing that is.

No coffee and blue berrys with it in.

I don't get why they can't add teeth that are a material that will bond. material tho.
I'm suppose to be getting a cast partial w/ resin but not seeing what it's going to look like.
i like the major connector

I can’t count how many of those Valplast , I had to replace with a cast partial. Greg Marks DD
dentsssss Can you tell me why it’s because it broke all the time so it’s wild to get the metal stick to the metal marshals, thank you
Flecixibles are great! But as a dentist you should know your not recommending the or having the lab fabricate a functional occlusion.....
