if you had the six button configuration controller it was the x,y or z button after they began panting, either from being struck sufficiently, roared at with a full roar bar or after they've worn themselves out with attacking.
Jeez.... you're incredibly talented at this. Watching this takes me back. When I was a kid, I always kinda got stuck on Hakuna Matata. thanks for uploading the video
I remember once, ONCE, reaching Simba's Return, getting lost in the tunnels, rage quitting, and never reaching that stage again, ever. I should probably revisit it someday, lay a ghost and all that... Great TAS though, brilliant to watch!!
I use to love this game as a kid and all i wanted was to be able to get to the stages where Simba becomes an Adult. I got there once and died so fast after. This helped me satisfy a childhood dream :D
Ahaha that stampede was fricking epic funtime :D I hated that stage as a kid though :/...Also my two cents of opinion I'm with skrizhali. Good composers make good music, doesn't matter what system.
It sounds great in most of the game. I remember some parts sounded annoying, but the game as a whole sounds wonderful. I still play some of the music in this game on my MP3. Some epic memories with this game.
Actually it depends on the song and the composers. SNES sound chip was great for instrumental-like music while Genesis' chip had an amazing bass and was perfect for electronic songs.
Frez, you're selling this guy short. He's not JUST jumping in time to the music, he's making a silly little mockery out of a stage that is a tribute to perhaps the saddest, most heartwrenching disney sequence ever. He's saying these stupid incompetent wildebeests can't touch me, watch me bounce around and move to the music as if it was cute and catchy. And making it look like perhaps maybe they shouldn't have been such a problem for...ahem...dear old dad. Personally I found it hilarious.
Come on! The saddest Disney sequence is a tie between the handholding scene in Toy Story 3 or the intro to UP! Certainly not the trampling of Mufasa after the betrayal of Scar... I mean seriously. his name is scar. Who didn't see that coming!
I remember playing this game. I remember everything up until (13:07) Prides Rock. I guess my memory cuts off there as I never passed the previous level. Still, I did pretty good for a kid. Just like now, I've always been dedicated to beating a game. Sadly though, Lion King still holds that title for the game that I've never beaten from what I can remember - that, and God of War (God Mode).
@hugojoelefou The SNES had a much softer sound. Sega was tinnier. It worked really good for some games (Phatasy Star IV music is perfect) not so much for games like this.
I remember putting so many hours into this game as a kid and was able to beat it quite a few times. The "Hakuna Matata" level was the level that decided whether I would beat the game or lose due to the waterfall portion. I couldn't figure out the patterns and would sometimes spend up to 5 to 10 minutes trying to climb the damn thing.
Oh, SNES fanboys. You do crack me up. Thing that's funny is that whenever I go to a video of a Megadrive game, there is always a SNES fanboy in there putting it down. I never see it the other way around. Maybe if you love your console so much, maybe you should express it in a more diplomatic fashion instead of making yourself look ridiculous.
Atari trumps both snes and shitty megadrive. Yous are all losers for allowing your parents to buy these consoles for you when you could be playing frogger on atari.
8:55 Simba: ._. Bitch slap! So many fond memories of beating this game when I was 8 I'm amazed I was able to beat some of these stages back when he didn't have save states not even useing passwords. It was sink or swim. One thing I still never understand was as adult simba what input makes you throw scar and leopard? I think it was Roar + attack + Back direction.
Genesis did a shitty job with some titles. This game, however, it excelled greatly from the SNES. Either way, I had both consoles, and loved them equally. Genesis could play Pacman Adventures, Sonic Spinball, and This game, and SNES could play Ms.Pacman, Super Mario All Stars, and Donkey Kong Country 3. I ain't complaining. As for the video itself, yet another great TAS. I can't believe I forgot that shortcut in the elephant graveyard.
All these kids complaining about how hard dark souls is but back in my day, we had the Lion king on the sega genesis. Now that shit was impossible. There was no way to beat it.
Today, I learned people with discrediting egos march recklessly into their own shame. Just because SNES has better sound and graphics does not mean Genesis is horrible. I love Nintendo as much as you do; I also love the other companies. This may have been a while ago, but this is the fucking Internet and people will get at you if you make a mistake. All I'll say to you is that if you've kept this up, the only people who will defend you will be the ones as deplorable as you. And that is sad.
inbuilt interpolation doesn't mean the chip is better. even the amount of instruments it can simulate doesn't. surely, it was created much later exclisuvely for snes while genesis used the one that already existed for a long time (and was used in arcade machines). genesis chip is just DIFFERENT, some tunes sound on genesis like a dream, some on snes. it depends on a COMPOSER! even some NES tunes still sound best on NES
In every game I compared, the SNES version had better sound and music quality, no question...I had a genesis and my neighbor had a SNES and he would always bring his console over so we could compare (I would just laugh at his censored blood in mortal kombat...even my NHL game had blood!)
Have to completely disagree, the SNES sound chip was far and away better at ALL times. The only time Genesis really had an advantage was with the Sega CD since it could store/play back uncompressed CD music. The SPC700 was a fully dedicated CPU/RAM just for music, on par with the main CPU (they both ran at 3.58mhz). Compare, say, FF6's music to any game from genesis and nothing will come close.
Wow I just thought I sucked balls at the monkey throwing level, but it's actually the most effing retarded and unclear level design in the entire fricking world
Watching you ace the Ostrich back stretch was the most painful and insulting thing I've ever seen. You do not know the childhood pain of the double jump that never worked. I'm actually angry about this. It's unfair. How dare you do this.
melvin smaw Using slowdowns, save states are a bit annoying. When you really come down to it, the most frustrating part is planning out every move you are going to make through each part of the game, then executing it perfectly. I'm not saying this one did, but the 14 min of gameplay could have taken hours of trial and error just to get it just right.
i remember getting to Scar and not knowing i was supposed to throw him off at the end, so i just kept smackin him wondering wtf
if you had the six button configuration controller it was the x,y or z button after they began panting, either from being struck sufficiently, roared at with a full roar bar or after they've worn themselves out with attacking.
Roar of child Simba:
* SNES: Cute kitten
* Genesis: Cat with phlegm
i love how this game makes it seem like simba did it alone, watta badass
Jeez.... you're incredibly talented at this. Watching this takes me back. When I was a kid, I always kinda got stuck on Hakuna Matata. thanks for uploading the video
Still would rather watch a playthrough of this then the 2019 live action movie.
I remember once, ONCE, reaching Simba's Return, getting lost in the tunnels, rage quitting, and never reaching that stage again, ever. I should probably revisit it someday, lay a ghost and all that... Great TAS though, brilliant to watch!!
I remember watching my older brother play this game several years back. He beat the whole game in about an hour. Memories.
Genesis: lightning sounds like splat
Snes:lightning sounds just like the 8 bit sizzle
I saw the title and was like "You can't do that in only 15 minutes, there's no way"
And then you did.
had this on SNES as a kid and beat it all the time. yall just suck at games
@@1981troyboy no you didn’t
Lmao
@@andrewquick4176 yeah i did. i'm sorry you suck at games. this is a kids game. it was easy.
Nostalgia!❤❤..i loved the fast way u played the game...i used to play this game when i was kid
Wow! I'm just amazed at how you can get through the levels. You are awesome at the game and way better then what I am at it.
This game is just so beautiful! It makes you want to buy it just for that!
It sounds great in most of the game. I remember some parts sounded annoying, but the game as a whole sounds wonderful. I still play some of the music in this game on my MP3. Some epic memories with this game.
way better than the SNES version
When I had this games, there was no internet.
I never got past level 2. Nobody I know who played it ever did either.
R u kidding me? This game is so easy
I've used this run to help shave time off my own non TAS run :)
Flappy Birds freaking walk in a park compared to this game.
Actually it depends on the song and the composers. SNES sound chip was great for instrumental-like music while Genesis' chip had an amazing bass and was perfect for electronic songs.
I liked when you jumped along to the music in the stampede level, haha.
Don't forget to apply cold water to the burned area!
It's amazing... you moves perfect. Long training?
the throw maneuver can also be used on hyenas, but it is a bit harder
The log bit used to royally mess me up as a kid.
press the double swipe button when scar or leopard is tired
DUDE STOP WITH THE AWESOMENESS U MAKING ME WANNA CRY AND PUNCH SHIT!!!
7:25
Stomping over childhood trauma : The movie: The game
How do you do the special moves? Like tearing up the hyena or flip it over? I could never do it
jump on them to tear up hyena, A+B+C to flip iirc
Yeah!
Not many people knew there was a double jump in this game and the grabing detection on the tails is off to.
I prefer the MegaDrive music over the SNES music BY FAR. It just sounds better.

I was 4 when i played this ;),ahh missing my childhood sometimes =).
Thanks man, could never make it past the wilderbeast part.

Relentless
Felisidades
I always got happy when I got to the Hakuna Matata-stage, becuase then I knew I would be Adult-Simba on the next one
12:49 my favourite part of the movie was Simba giving the Hyenas a stroke
these older games sure were big about rolling rocks killing you instantly. Aladdin had that crap too.
@hugojoelefou The SNES had a much softer sound. Sega was tinnier. It worked really good for some games (Phatasy Star IV music is perfect) not so much for games like this.

X/Y/Z on a six button controller also works.
Never got past the first hyena lol one of the only games I couldn’t do as a kid.
Oh, SNES fanboys. You do crack me up. Thing that's funny is that whenever I go to a video of a Megadrive game, there is always a SNES fanboy in there putting it down. I never see it the other way around.

lol thanks for that!
I just kept on spaming attack like crazy when I've hit him like 10 times on the last fight.
As a kid I could never figure it out.
The sega genesis soundtrack is WAY better than the SNES soundtrack! :)
I figured you just had to stay at the corner and hope for the best. That's how I did it, anyway.
All these kids complaining about how hard dark souls is but back in my day, we had the Lion king on the sega genesis. Now that shit was impossible. There was no way to beat it.
You stole that from The Real Life Peter Griffin, didn't you lol
holy shit you got to be adult simba in this game

I guess he just couldn't wait to be king.
I'm 9 years too late, I know.
Edit: No way nobody's made that joke yet. It's been 9 years lol
I prefer Genesis versions of Contra and RobocopVsTerminator music to SNES ones.
Great!
I don't know why there's hate on either side of the debate..Actually, I don't see why there's a debate. The game got multiple consoles, suck it?

I was stuck on that stupid ostrich part forever, because I thought the 2 arrows meant you had to double jump...... ugh.
My poor 4 year old self trying to figure out how the fuck to beat 'Be Prepared' with no internet...also, Sega ftw!!!
IMPOSSIBLE! this is some kind of witchcraft, let's get you on the stake
7:29 Simba's right. It's very cool
.....1:27.....you don't have to double jump? Mind=blown
So he has zero Life and if the hyena touches you it's instant death so he cheated
Is This a TAS?
+Jeff Dueck read the title ¬¬'
Fuck this game was so hard.

Christ, I hated the Be Prepared level.
you better defend your ass next time it gets fucked. seriously.
10:15 *smack, smack smack smack!*
is by using some hacks? cause you can escape some enemies like in 10 milliseconds insane..
Wow I just thought I sucked balls at the monkey throwing level, but it's actually the most effing retarded and unclear level design in the entire fricking world
Genesis Lion King was better by far.
14:05 .Finish him.Fatality
Sega was fantastic. Nintendo was fantastic. And Sony was fantastic. Get over it.
you are a God... of sorts
Mega-Drive/Genesis > SNES. All day long.
your were fast as shit
try GameFAQs

10:15 - 10:28 Hilarious!
Is it just me or is the encode awful?
I'M NOT CLAUDE FROLLO ANYMORE encode has had some screen melting issues
WTF? Speedrun...xD
deez nuts
Q audio nojento, snes ganha de lavada kkk
Caravan of Garbage brought me here
borat
lol showoff XD
you do realize that this was tool assisted so while this is theoretically possible, this was done with slowdowns and/or save states
ik. ive never do tool assisting before. i heard someone saying its pretty hard to work on
melvin smaw

charizard4410 true. i was thinking about it to do tas tool, buuuuuuut lol maybe later
A game based off a ripped off cartoon :3
I'm not a snes fan but man, this sounds so crappy.
What you expect from a 1988 console?
This sounds like shit compared to the snes version. No comparison.
