Thank you! Most of the time I have many issues spelling my name (Katherine) especially because no one understand my H and R. I've learned something new.
This was worth watching just the viewing her loveliness. What brought me here was listening to I think a Australian dentist pronouncing the Oral-B product and it sounded like he said Oral Bay..
How come you say "time" the way Americans say "time"? I'm American; what we usually hear when Aussies pronounce that word is something that sounds to us like "toaim." The same with "subscribe" at 00:38. You say it exactly as Americans do; but I usually hear Aussies say something closer to "subscroaib." And right after that, you say "if you like" at 00:45; but you pronounce the word "like" the way Americans do, instead of "loaik" which is what we in America usually hear when Australians pronounce the word "like." Confused.
Le me wanting to learn Australian accent just because of Rosé (BLACKPINK ) and Felix (STRAY KIDS ) LOL 😂 I just came to watch your video know y Felix said " Dispatch- Dee- Ayi- Ees- Pee- Ay- T- See- Hatch Dispatch" lol 😂😂
I came here to understand the accent because it's been a year of me living in Sydney and I'm struggling with communicating with people here due to my Indian accent which is still strong...I thought I'll learn from this video but I'm unable to concentrate on the content cZ YOU ARE SO PRETTY I'M JUST UNABLE TO LOOK AWAY AND CONCENTRATE ON YOUR LESSONS...HOW DO I LEARN LIKE THIS???? HELPP??? I'm gonna try again later i guess lol
Don't ask me how I wound up watching this video during my work lunch break on this random Wednesday afternoon, but she looks like she could be Kaley Cuoco's Australian cousin.
I do not teach my Aussie kids to the “Y, Zed or Zee” thing I hear and see so often these days and was a little disappointed when this started happening. I am American and I insist that, as we are living in Australia that my kids just stick to Zed…I also think it’s confusing for young kids, especially EALD kids. An interesting note, I don’t see it very often in American alphabet songs…they simply stick to their dialect, as should we…just my 2 cents
It's been a long time since I studied linguistics, but, so far, I reckon it's A = a dipthong commencing with a long a and ending with long i B = a hard plosive ending with a long i C = a sibilent ending with a long i D = dental /d/ ending with a long i Skipping ahead, pre post war mass immigration, the H debate aitch v haitch, the aspirant added to the latter, was regarded as class based, the former used by the middle class, the latter by the working class.
G’Day! The new alphabet song, huh? What version did Candy and Ant sing then? Was that a new one or an old one? I'm curious as I am somewhat... forced... to watch that several times a day, if you know what I mean :-)
@@candicemoll8386 Thanks! This one is what I'm watching daily. Since your interview with Pete@Aussie English. Along with the spider song. Just curious about the "newer" version of the alphabet song then.
See, this is where I'm confused. I mean, I'm watching Bluey which is an Australian show and they say the sounds of the letters. They don't say "Pee" for P, they say "puh". That's very odd to me.
Ah! What you're describing is how letters are first taught to pre-school-age children. They use the sound of the letters rather than the letter name. It's common for a little child to spell things out this way as they're still learning the letter sounds, but they usually would be using the correct letter names by around second grade.
It is categorically NOT OK to put an H sound in front of Aitch. I feel I need to stress this. What’s stronger than categorically? It is DOGegorically NOT OK!!
So why when you say "NO" do you say "Narr" but when saying the alphabet you say "O" differently? Id imagine you guys would say "O" more like an "R" judging from how you say "NO" lol
If all the aussies had a clear accent like your’s i wouldn’t be watching your video.🙂 And i must say You’re beautiful.
As far as I understood, the alphabet in Australian English is the same in British English. Great video!
Really.... literally thought it differently
Thank you! Most of the time I have many issues spelling my name (Katherine) especially because no one understand my H and R. I've learned something new.

That Aussie accent you're referring to is the "broad" accent. Perfect examples of Aussies with the broad accent are Steve Irwin and Paul Hogan....
Oh...Your Australian accent is too good....Even I wanna learn that accent...But I am too weak in English....
Your video is very helpful for me.

Don't ask me how I wound up watching this video during my work lunch break on this random Wednesday afternoon, but she looks like she could be Kaley Cuoco's Australian cousin.

A lot of this is how Australian women pronounce letters.
