Very valid point. It always annoyed me that generic hair advice would tell people “don’t detangle wet hair” as if everyone has straight hair. Our hair can handle many things straight hair can’t, we just have to approach it differently.
As a black woman I've found that my hair is tremendously easier to comb or brush when it's wet in comparison to when it's dry. It's a reason hair falls into different categories because what works for 1A hair will be an epic fail for 4C or vice-versa.
I mean aside from the "science" of it all. Have people not tried to detangle kinky hair dry vs. Damp vs. Wet and actually taken time to see and feel the difference? I think a lot of people stoll dont know how to properly detangle their own hair cause that statement dont even make sense.
Another youtuber said this and I never adhered to this mindset. Always made sure to detangle on damp hair. Not soaking wet under running water but damp with conditioner. Trying to do it dry would not work no matter what.
That last part was deep “straight hair standard” I felt that. I will say when my hair isn’t up to par or does become very fragile due to neglect life mental etc but it’s strong from the scalp ok period.
My hair has held up to so many things compared to the amount of straight hair videos i see of ppl making all their hair fall out or burning it off. Straight hair is not the default nor the standard..
I have been thinking this for yearssssd wow!!! Thank you!!! Our hair is still strong when wet!!!!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽Hair school teaches that hair is weakest when wet but whose hair are they talking about???? Not ours!!!
I think we forget that back in the day when we were breaking hair with combing it dry, causing all types of splits, those combs were breaking too! When has wet straight hair ever done that(asian hair included)?
NATURE always forms curls & coils . That’s why I n the world when they need a strong object to withstand weight yet remain strong, they use coiled SPRINGS. Thankfully we are learning more and more how to master and maintain our hair!! x

See!!! I knew I wasn’t crazy. My hair is so much more manageable when wet. Detangling is a breeze and I notice my hair sheds less.
Right!
It's the laugh for me 🤣 I love when you get on here and school these folks OG!

I remember when i first tried it i literally just stopped and said “there has to be another way” 😂. Ir was not working at all.
So true! I wouldn't dare detangle my hair dry. Been there, done that. Didn't appreciate the breakage.
You betta say it again! Amen!

I never detangle dry hair. It is easiest to do when damp or even soaking wet. If I detangled dry, I would have breakage everywhere!
Exactly 💯. You are on point.

Right because the higher the ph the more fragile the hair. Chemical processes elevate the ph of hair.
Real good!

BOOM.
I thought this was a given, as a natural my hair is suppose to be detangled wet or damp I could never do that with dry hair I wouldn’t have any left 😂
My hair was weak. Come to find out it was hwat damage. I've quit heat styling for 5 years and my hair is the toughest hair I know
how do I book with you?!😫😫
Sorry to ask a question about a different topic but I wanted to know if it’s possible to have a 4B hair type that grows up/out and not down?
