I have to respect this video because it shows the original ABC coverage of the finish of the 1992 Indy500 where for the first and last time ABC wanted to give an overhead shot of the finish and it was obscured by the flags. When this race airs on a replay ESPN would give the traditional head on shot

Better add 2024 to this list. 2 lead changes on lap 199. Probably the best last lap in history. At least for my and in my life time watching this race since 1976.

Definitely one for the history books! So glad the fans got that amazing race after dealing with the rain.

I love the fact they used the radio call for the 1992 finish, best description of a 500 finish ever

moments like the Indy 500 is why we love Indy, and why we want more ovals in this sport!

Before Grosean wrecked and made it end under caution, Texas 2023 was an insanely awesome race! And then it’s not happening this year!? Real shame. Need just like 1-2 more ovals and it’ll be a great mix

    • @IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT
      @IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT 5 месяцев назад +1

@@extragoogleaccount6061 it’s not even happening next year, or 2026 cuz they rather (it’s a rumor) go to San Antonio for another street race nobody asked for🙄
Also 1-2 more ovals? That’s a bit low. 3 or 4 more and then we have a good (realistic) balance

Buddy Lazier’s 1996 Indy 500 victory is one of the most incredible stories in the history of the race. Just months after suffering a horrific back injury that left him in excruciating pain, he managed to fight through and not only compete but win, leading 43 laps, including the final one. His courage and resilience to come back and claim victory-despite everything stacked against him-set him apart as one of the most underrated drivers in Indy 500 history. It's a shame he isn't featured in this video, as he truly deserves recognition for his remarkable achievement. A true testament to determination, spirit, and skill! 🏁 #TeamLazier #Indy500Legend

2006 is so heartbreaking. The Andrettis can't even get the win when leading with 100 yards to go

That is one of the absolute best finishes of a race I have ever seen. What a drive from Hornish. It's a shame that the commentators focus on the win being close and not being a brilliant drive from Hornish. He learned his lesson going into turn three on the penultimate lap, and did not do that on the last lap to get a run on Andretti jr on the sprint to the line. Apart from that. Here is a very cool four last laps with mexican commentators: ruclips.net/video/FZGIvBIlfM8/видео.htmlsi=JXOlbKuDQYjtYAo8
      I think you'll like it.

That 1982 finish just gives me goosebumpbs every single time. Jim and Sam were absolutely on it, and given the controversy of 1981, well....Oh, 1982...that gives me goosebumps every single time. Every. Single. Time. Say what you want about Jim McKay and Sam Posey, but they were absolutely

Al Unser Jr.'s races are my earliest "permanent" Indy 500 memories...just realized how fortunate I was to have experienced the 2000's as a lifelong fan of the event...thanks for this...

1960's tech and 2024 tech. The cars are unrecognizable. 145 mph as compared with 231mph. We only see the surface

Judging by the amount of photo finishes in may from the Kentucky derby and the advent health 400 I wouldn’t be surprised if the Indy 500 ended in a photo finish

Not a photo finish, but the possible greatest final lap ever in 2024

also is there a reason why IndyCar uses IMS Radio during the ESPN/ABC days of the Indy 500 and IndyCar on various videos and not full races? (Well except the 2015 clip)
It has been like this for a decade and a half and I have been curious why? Licensing? Or?

That may have been one of the best moments and best races, but the _finish_ wasn't that good--Danny Sullivan was just too far ahead of Mario for the last few laps.

No, it wasn't. Only two of the eleven even showed the wives. They were shown on the live broadcast, and these are directly from the broadcasts.
