I always put in Alchemist's Refuge that way I can play my interactive creatures on my opponents' turns or just flash in my commander at end step if i need to swing with it right away
i agree with so much of your reasoning. my favorite deck is simic and although i don't use a lot of the cards mentioned here, you did highlight some of the most important pieces and strategies in what is my best deck. my plan is to draw most of my deck, play most of it and kill everybody on the same turn but my deck is rather slow because i'm running tons of huge spells so it's common for me to go most of the game without much (if any) board state. that's why i'm always running AT LEAST 3 green fogs + perplexing test, aetherize AND aetherspouts (and often evacuation as well.) i run 3 counterspells: negate, swan song, and narset's reversal (plus twincast, lazotep plating and heroic int. which could fall into this category) but 90% of the time used only to protect my wincon. my fav draw spells are soul's majesty, rishkar's expertise, momentous fall, wildspeaker, borrowing 100,000 arrows/theft of dreams, and biomantic mastery plus my commander is prime speaker zegana so with very minimal setup i can go from starting a turn with 0 nonland permanents and end the game with all my creatures in play with an akroma's memorial. my other simic staples: tireless provisioner (fucking all star mvp), turnabout, rude awakening, tangle, moments peace, blessed respite, wilderness reclamation, nyxbloom ancient, theoretical duplication, stunt/double/clone/phyrexian metamorph/sakashima, traverse the outlands, and for sure omniscience and azusa and my fav, flood of tears........every damn deck. edit, forgot 3 very important cards: blanchwood armor (plus yavimaya cradle of growth obviously) to turn my weenies into stompies and then cast rishkar's/traverse. also wrenn and seven which has proven to be incredible cause if i draw 50-60 cards i can use wrenn's 0 ability to put down all of the lands and since i run amulet of vigor, this just ramps me out of reach.
My two simic decks have nothing to do with draw or lands. Moritte and Esix. One is a voltron/lords/changelings deck and the other is a turning tokens into other things deck. There are also several others that do non card draw/lands strategies, e.g. Gor Muldrak.
The way I see it, the risk of reality shift giving them something powerful is not a big deal. They still have to pay the creature’s mana cost, and I think people forget that your opponent was gonna draw that card next turn anyway.
@@colexian yeah I guess it does have that fringe downside, but there are other upsides, like it causes ETBs and cast triggers not to happen. I think it’s a wash.
Great list, and pretty much what I run as well. I would add Deglamer and Unravel the Aether as Nature's Claim replacements or in addition. They get around indestructible and graveyard stuff too and can even be used to 'save' your own crucial permanents in a pinch. Muddle the Mixture, Echoing Truth, Mystic Confluence and Loyal Drake are also personal favourites, but they are probably more of an acquired taste.
I had the idea of deconstructing the reap the tides precon with xythris the writhing storm into a sort of draw/ cascade deck with sea monster and elemental tribal using landfall
I can vouch for the Heroic Intervention. I just won my last game because someone else blew up the board with a Blasphemous Act. I was playing a Ruxa deck so I was proud of that win lol.
You really need to replace Reclamation Sage with Druid of Purification. 1 more mana to get up to 3 more artifacts or enchanments. You could run both, but please run DoP before RS 👍
are you gonna elaborate on WHY you dont play cycloniic rift lol? last time i checked this was an essential include on ANY deck where its an option for a board wipe
I personally dislike seeing simic across from me so now I know to run more etb hate like hushbringer and torpor orb to combat these colors of value. Muhaha
My simic deck I use void slime, disallow and repudiate/replicate. My commander is Roalesk just in case someone wants to know. And heroic intervention has saved me alot
Okay but if your wrong about any of these imma send you a plastic dog turd. j/k I play and always have a simic or 5 despite having a goal of one of every color
So you have this video and a video that says "white card draw has gone too far". In this video you go on to mention that simic is great for card draw and you dont have staples per se because it depends on your build which card draw options you need. On the other hand you are complaining about the 3rd or 4th decent draw spell in white that doesnt rely on go wide or life gain. So simic is good because it has so many card draw options and mono white is bad because it has too many... are you seeing the discrepancy there?
simple explanation. every color doesn't have to be exactly the same at card draw. that's a nonsense argument that has infected the game because of commander. white is so good at so many other things, it doesn't have to also be great at card draw. if white is as good as green at card draw and ramp then it has literally no downside.
@@edhdeckbuilding thank you for the reply! I didn't know content creators read comments. I agree white has a lot of strengths, but theres a reason mono white is by far the least popular color. Ive been doing better with my mono white decks since m21 or so with all these new card advantage options, but all the really good ones are well north of $10-15. For every new mangara the diplomat, we get a mentor of the meek that falls into budget range. I'm only advocating for enough options that i dont have to blow my whole deck budget on card advantage. Like you, I dont want a parity of card advantage, if white was still bad at card draw maybe the prices wouldnt be so high. I just want there to be a wider range of middle to low grade options. Like secret rendezvous.
Strixhaven had a card called Double Major 🟢🔵 instant create a copy of target creatute you control except it isnt legendary if the targeted creature was legendary. you can use it to create a copy of your commander to "save it" if your opponent path to exiles it or tries to out it in some way. i like using it to double triggers or even quadruple them. since the token has the same name, say you copy Xyris the writhing storm, his ability triggers when Xyris deals damage. so if you swing with 2 xyris the first xyris will see itself dealing damage, the copy will see it deal damage and they will both trigger. if they both trigger at the same time both triggers double to 4 instances on the stack
I always put in Alchemist's Refuge that way I can play my interactive creatures on my opponents' turns or just flash in my commander at end step if i need to swing with it right away
"This is more the boring stuff, the stuff you're gonna see every game."
I'm familiar with UG decks, yes :P
I agree they do all feel the same

someday they're gonna make a simic commander thats not some variation on "draw a card, play more lands, +1 counters"
Koma is a nice one
I like Volo and Esix, but they are more of a exception
Building Lonis right now. He's not that at all
My two simic decks have nothing to do with draw or lands. Moritte and Esix. One is a voltron/lords/changelings deck and the other is a turning tokens into other things deck. There are also several others that do non card draw/lands strategies, e.g. Gor Muldrak.
Why? Thats all we want and need:)
I love simic so much, just built a simic deck, so thank you for this, keep it up ❤💪
I started using Druid of Purification in the slot of Rec Sage, 1 more mana to destroy 3 extra things is really good IMO :D
The way I see it, the risk of reality shift giving them something powerful is not a big deal. They still have to pay the creature’s mana cost, and I think people forget that your opponent was gonna draw that card next turn anyway.
Beside, if that creature has ETB trigger, they won't get it. And I would love to mess up someone's Mystical Tutor.
Yeah but this makes the creature uncounterable right?
Ive never actually had Reality Shift turn out badly, but it definitely could.
@@colexian yeah I guess it does have that fringe downside, but there are other upsides, like it causes ETBs and cast triggers not to happen. I think it’s a wash.

I would think natures spiral and flood of recollection. Both very solid cards and even better later game.
I had the idea of deconstructing the reap the tides precon with xythris the writhing storm into a sort of draw/ cascade deck with sea monster and elemental tribal using landfall
Colossal Skyturtle is a must have for any Simic deck. It's a choice of big flying creature, graveyard recursion, and creature bounce.
Cheers to the best EDH channel on RUclips.
thanks buddy
Truly love these videos, thank you so much for making them!
Annule is fantastic, countering a turn 1 sol ring or mystic remora is really effective. Spell snare is also great in cedh.
I’m still working on my Sultai commander deck, but it’s mostly Simic colors. Only a touch of black,
good video, gonna build an inga and esika deck in the near future and this was very helpful
Krosan grip is fantastic with split seconds. Stops omniscience. Also stops combos like isochron dramatic reversal
Definitely Alchemist's Refuge. I used to call it the best card in my superfriends deck.
Also Scavenging Ooze.
Bala ged recovery has become such a great card and if you can pull it back out of your graveyard, even better.
I'd put Oversimplify in this list. It's a great card with an unique effect in simic.
Thanks for the vid.
I can vouch for the Heroic Intervention. I just won my last game because someone else blew up the board with a Blasphemous Act. I was playing a Ruxa deck so I was proud of that win lol.
I love Heroic Intervention but its hard to justify in Simic when a counterspell has so many more applications for the same costs in blue
Barrier Breach and Augmenter Pugilist/Echoing Equation are also autos in my simic decks.
Love Augmenter Pugilist/Echoing Equation : )
My favorite blue "counterspell" is Commandeer. I get to foil my opponents plans but the spell still gets played :)
Oh yeah, its great.
Desertion is right up there too.
Autoinclude draw spell in Simic for me is Guardian Project. That card is so busted.
I have become infamous for using heroic intervention with bearer of the heavens
I think I would replace Negate with Arcane Denial if it's for emergency only. Otherwise agree fully.
Tyranid Prime deserves more love. Way more broken then it looks.
I like broken bond in green you destroy someone's artifact and get a land onto the battlefield from your hand
You really need to replace Reclamation Sage with Druid of Purification. 1 more mana to get up to 3 more artifacts or enchanments. You could run both, but please run DoP before RS 👍
Curse of Swine has saved my bacon so many times. Hehehehe
Druid of purification is a great card for simic.

What about dryad revival? I throw it in every green deck
Krosan grip is a great card when you have a guy in your pod who throws aetherflux IN. EVERY. DECK.
Please do Gruul next
You didnt mention Oko? Lol!
Why not Farseek?
sol ring
I’m going the break the ice and ask why not Cyclonic Rift?
ruclips.net/video/wTjsWutc4mM/видео.html&ab_channel=EDHDeckbuilding
Greetings, fellow simics.
Is it just me or did there seem to be not alot of multicolored cards here for simic? XD
These are staples, staples tend to be mono color
Alchemists refuge
this is a card i've never used myself. not sure why.
My simic deck I use void slime, disallow and repudiate/replicate. My commander is Roalesk just in case someone wants to know. And heroic intervention has saved me alot
Do Azorius , Im trying to build a Kwain group hug deck , give everyone infinite life 🤣🤣🤣
Curse of the swine, the ultimate boar wipe.
I'll see myself out...
He says he doesn't play cyclonic rift anymore. Then, he proceeds to talk about how Simic is held back by not having good board wipes.
Okay but if your wrong about any of these imma send you a plastic dog turd. j/k I play and always have a simic or 5 despite having a goal of one of every color

creature spell. so it can only copy creatures on the stack, not on the battlefield
"which staples?"
All of them. It's Simic. Fart and you get value.
