I remember so many DKs in my guild trying to get Zin'rokh. I went to my bank and grabbed the original Zin'rokh from ZG (that I had kept for sentimental value). I announced to the guild I was starting out archeology, and asked if they had some tips. An hour later, I typed in guild: "Oh my God!" and then I linked the sword. I got so many curses from jealous people, followed by even more curses when they realized what I did. Fun times...

I will remember forever getting the Scepter of Azj'Aqir within a day due to my Arch spawns back in Cata always being in Uldum over and over and over somehow, sometimes in Tanaris or Feralas now and then. 3-4 relics before the mount came up and got it the same day after grinding and spawns repeating, felt the luckiest when it happened knowing guildies we're farming it

The Mr. Pinchy one brings back memories, i remember getting it from my first school in terrokar back in tbc/wotlk, didnt even fish for it just felt like fishing and on top of that getting the pet on the first attempt and i was just happy to add another pet to my collection, watching this video made me realize how hard it really was to obtain.
I was stuck on the damn fishing competition for YEARS, when Blizzard removed the Tuskarr fishing competition, I was only able to try for Sunday and I don't often have that day off from work so it took even longer- Finally won it last year and got my title.
I gave up in like 2011(?) after my fellow rogues kept ganking me :(
Battlemaster definitely deserves to be on the list. It took me 2 straight years of PvP to get it. Atleast it was fun back in 08-10
It needed both carzy amounts of grind and crazy amounts of luck. I managed to get it a few months after wotlk release and was top 3 on Ravencrest-EU to get it /stopbrag
I got BM on my mage back in 2011, 2nd server wide ( first horde though) and yeag i can confirm it was one hell of a journey! Respect to all the fellow battlemasters out there
two of the biggest grinds I've had to go through have been getting the netherwing drake mount in burning crusade, and the green proto drake in wrath of the lich king. one requires daily quests + the very rare egg, and the other requires buying one egg, waiting 24 hours, opening it, and then hoping for a mount.
The last year joke was... absolutely perfectly bad :D

The x-53 Touring Rocket from recruit a friend was from Wrath as well as 3 Mammoths are all 2 seat mounts well before the Sandstone Drake in cata
grafspe807 I got travelers tundra mammoth back in wrath, it’s a 3 seater but nobody uses it as such, since you have to eject Gnimo and the Draenei or the goblin and troll to make room...
he said 2 seat FLYING MOUNT, and it's accurate since the touring rocket mount was exclusive to raf accounts only so wasn't widely available to all.
The Mech-gineers Chopper is still craftable, it's just not a highly sought after mount anymore.
Pretty sure the Engineers motorcycle was before Cata as well
Camel Hoarder - Took me 56 Camel Figurines to get the Tornado and collect the mount from Dormus.
Legion Legendaries - Been playing since release and I still need 3 more on main and plenty on all the other characters. (Opened a few thousand Legendary enabled caches/recompenses)
Hero of Shatt - Not really long, since you can buy the items, but at least 24 hours of play time. It is tedious and mind-numbing.
Relic Hunter - MoP release. I think I got server first/second for it, but some of the treasures you rarely saw and spawn times were ridiculous. I think there was a zone soft cap to treasures that were shared.
Zandalari Warbringer mounts - MoP release - CRZ + Mob specific drop rates, RNG spawns and 3/4% drop rate per mount. There were 3 variations to get. Only completed it in Legion and still heavily camped.
Taming Azeroth or So.Many.Pets - Taming Azeroth was much more effort, due to the 'weather' pets(Baby Ape, Sandstorm bug and seasonal owl and squid?) and is pretty much the pre-requisite for So.Many.Pets. So.Many.Pets still took awhile, because of the money you had to throw in to get the more expensive pets.
Lord of the Reins - You have to still farm 1% drops to get the achievement, even if you buy all the store mounts. RNG is RNG.
70 Exalted Reps - So much grind. (Hydraxian Waterlords, specifically)
Going to need a Bigger Bag (Timeless Island) - Still haven't completed it. I cringed every time I think of it and I did pre-nerf Insane happily and all the grinds listed above, but this will forever elude me. Fucking crab.
I think the drop rate on the warbringers is quite higher
Yeah. It is about 3-4%, but you still need RNG on your side and the correct variation to spawn.
It gets progressively harder
Sanguinezor the Summer pet is the little guardian that spawns around AQ10 & AQ 40. The squid is from fishing- Summer Squid. ☺
Having just completed the Insane in the Membrane achievement, this video is nice to know how to waste my life next xD
The coin master was the hardest for me, fishing everyday for 6 months I think. The whole thing took me about 2 years total and this video inspired me!
Oeh, I remember the fishing in the Horde side for an achievement. While being an Alliance. Had to hide in the bushes and hope nobody saw me fishing, such pressure. Loved it.
Man, now I feel really proud of my Salty title! Either I had no idea how hard it was and I got lucky, or it's been so many years since I got it that I simply forgot how awful the grind was. Winning the old fishing contest (when you had to be THE first to turn in) was a damn happy moment.
Oh Tol'Vir digs... My main is a druid who also happens to be an alchemist, and I still vividly remember the constant endless loops around Kalimdor. Working my way down the entire map, ending with Uldum, and then teleporting to Moonglade to start all over. Over and over and over again. On the one hand, I got INCREDIBLY lucky, and my recipe dropped from... I want to say from my second jar? But actually getting my FIRST jar, was... hoo boy. I actually got a couple of rares (including the mount) before I saw a single freaking jar.
The Coins broke my mind back in the days.... My brain just melted away while doing this.
I don't even play WoW but I like watching your videos, you are humble and also relaxing to listen to. Someone else mentioned how you feel like Bob Ross and that is pretty accurate

For that Salty title, by far the hardest part of that is trying to fish up the super rare fish, from that list. GL with that.
Wow, the way you describe it, I'm amazed I was able to complete the crawdad achievement during BC and the fountain coin achievement during Wrath.

Hmmmmm... I guess you can say that trying to fish the ashbringer out of a river for hours/days can be considered a hard grind XD
Finally after a lifetime of grind i was one of the lucky ones who manage to attune for naxx, clear and finally manage to get the sword from the horseman. I never felt that gamer pride ever since... Good days... now only memories... Some people over the years married, had children that play wow now and other... Others, unfortunately, are already resting for eternity...Waiting for us by the side of the spirit healer...

Grinding 1000 Darkmoon Tickets to by that zeppelin mount takes almost a YEAR.
But it was totally worth it! I love it!

I remember back before a certain patch, trying to get my paladin and warlock epic mount quest done was the absolute worst. You have to get a Pristine Black Diamond which had a 0.2% chance of dropping off mobs in Scholomance and Stratholme. And when it did drop, you still had to fight over it with other classes because the thing was worth about 5,000g on the auction house, so nobody was just going to let you have that. I believe a month after I finally got one to drop in strath, they patched it and made the drop rate like 5% and suddenly everyone had their mounts.
The music you use in your videos make the videos so much more relaxing to watch, thank you so much for making these videos for us to watch man. Really appreciated :)

Finally someone acknowledges the Master Angler as among the hardest grinds in the game. I got in about four months. But I still don’t have .
The grind to go from hated with the aldor to exalted as a blood elf was brutal back in the day. It required farming venom sacks that had a1/4-1/3 drop chance from spiders.
It took me hours, and hours to do it. Look into it at least. Maybe not as hard as these two but something worth mentioning.
I ALMOST had the fishing achievement but I was completely unable to do the fishing tournament because I work on weekends.
Yeah, it was a kick in the teeth when they brought out the second fishing tourney...that's ALSO on the weekend. Thanks Bliz, so helpful...
However, I did actually own ALL THREE archaeology items in this vid. I got crazy lucky and got the bug mount while I was leveling archeaology which made me one of the first one my server to get it.
I'm happy I was able to get my Salty title before I quit WoW. That really was a hell of a grind.
I enjoy your videos a lot. I no longer play WoW, but these vids really bring back memories. My favorite character was the Rogue. My, how that has changed. I remember the lock pick grind. You had to actually earn the lock pick skill back then. Keep up the good work.
Man, I remember grinding for the battle tank back in early cata. This is truly is, or at least was , one of the hardest grinds. I was never able to get the sword though....

The chain quest and rep grind for the scepter to open the gates of AQ! Scarab Lord has to be one of the rarest titles in the game.
I did a lot of Archaeology back when it was first released. Didn't even realize it was that bad at the time... I just enjoyed flying around exploring parts of the world I hadn't seen in a very long time.
I've been stuck on the Booty Bay Angler for years. I was on a PVP server originally and that made it extra hard. I've since changed to a Normal realm, but I also lost interest around that time.
I remember done the Sand of Vials grind back in Cata. Luckily my guild mates got the recipe around the time I finally gathered all the required items after a lot of gold farming. Was so happy to fly around as a Sandstone Drake with a guild mate hitching a ride.
I recently returned to WoW and there seems to be Sandstone Drakes wherever I go lol. Not complaining, it's just strange to see so many when there weren't as many on my server back then.

That Crimson Whelp pet grind in Vanilla is mind-numbing.
it took me 2 years to get the qiraji mount... haven't touched archeology since, even zin'rokh was easier to get than this damn bug.. suggestion: the netherwing rep grind for dem drakes
it was quite a bit harder when it was current because you were far from the only one doing it :p prob not the case anymore
I got it in cata, even then it was tedious. I can't imagine how bad it was when it was current

Netherwing was pretty easy tho, even in TBC, most people I played with got it as it mostly involved just doing dailies, grinding eggs, etc
Disgusting Oozeling and the Firefly pets.
The oozeling dropped at a lower than 1% rate from bags that dropped off of slimes at a 1% rate as well, and the firefly drops from fireflies in Zangarmarsh at a similarly low rate.

I somehow got super lucky and got the Oozeling on my second day of farming. I know others aren't usually so fortunate.
I spent about a month trying to farm it on my main in vanilla. Got it before i was halfway through the cave while leveling my priest.....of the OPOSITE faction. so so sad
i grinded the vial of the sands pattern in catta...... it sucked ... took me literal weeks at several hours a day.
Back then it was a max of 3 spots per dig site and it was a lot of guessing....
I literally (just this past week) got the bug mount from tolvir because grinding using highmountain makes it suck less

I feel that while those fishing grinds you described are pretty damn grindy indeed, the one where you fish up one of the rare fish in the open oceans was just even more RNG madness. A friend of mine took about 6 months after wining the Stranglthorne fishing tournament to find one of those rares to get Salty.
There is actually skill involved in the Booty Bay Fishing contest, let me explain how. I realised after tons of failed attempts that I was doing it all wrong - it's all about luring other people to "empty" nodes.. that means counting on average how many fish a node contains before despawning (i think it was like 4?) then leaving ONE fish in the node and moving on to the next FULL node. This way you can trick multiple people into fighting over a dead node giving you the time to fish from full nodes. Try it and thank me later :)
There is also a strategy to beat the RNG when going for the Battle Tank. Simply put : The first epic solves on each character come faster. If you have gotten to your 4th or 5th epic solve on that character you NEED to change character or you will be grinding INSANE amounts of tol'vir fragments until your next epic solve (so many that its literally faster to start archaeology over on an alt). The second you change character you will start getting epics fast again. Trust me on this one .. i learned the hard way lol

I met my wife in WoW. It was WoTLK though, not Vanilla, so I guess now it's even easier.

Won the booty bay contest in wrath on a pvp server with gankers all over the place. Was really proud of that😄. Of course i chose the fisch trinket instead of the ring...lol. Fishing up the turtle mount could be a hardcore grind, all rng. Spent a week fishing all day for that damn mount. For shure a couple of thousand fish before it came up.

Hey MadSeason! Don't know if you covered that already, but there was a Feat of Strength back in BC, the Hero of Shattrath. You had to be exalted with both the Scryers, and the Aldor. It was like Insane 2.0. After hitting exalted with one, you had to farm up thousands of Spider Venom Sacs, or Basilisk Eyes, to befriend the other faction, and then work your way up to exalted, like you did with the first.
Talk about an insane accomplishment.

I did the OG grind for the scepter back in the day.. if I remember correctly I did around 160 Tol'vir solves before actually getting it.. Very brutal! Needless to say it's acquired many miles since then and is my daily driver still!
Got the BB angler achievement back in 2007/2008. And was quite lucky after several sundays without beeing first. I chose the fish trinket as my reward :D

Got 2 Saltys back in the day on my main & alt. Dat time waste :D Back when Fishing BB contest had only a single winner per week, it was a lot of fun though, organizing with a friend to attack opposing faction fishing while tracking pools for you and giving you pally speed auras/water walk stuff. Took me 5 weeks to get first place twice. Good times!

I had thought about mentioning the Venomhide Raptor Quest chain that starts in Un'Goro. But it doesn't even hold a candle to some of these.

Vial of the sands was not the first two-seater mount in the game, you had the Northrend Mammoths for ground mounts, but also the RAF Touring Rocket which is a two seater flying mount!
It took me FOUR YEARS of grinding to get my Invincible mount and about 2 to get Mimiron's Head, but they both came within 1 week of each other when I finally got them. Oh, that's four years of running ICC on multiple characters per week, I've always kept one of each class leveled, so it's 8+ times per week, every week, for 4 years. I hope to never set foot in ICC again.
While working towards the VoS recipe I actually got the bug mount. Go figure! 😂 Still need that skeletal raptor though.

Fangs of the Father at their release in cata. Personally I did it in WOD, and it still took 4 months, so back in the cata days, it must have been crazy.
Took me 8 months of solid grinding to get the Vial of the sands, you had to do all sites in all areas till the 3 dig sites were in in Tol'vir, then do the 3 tol'vir sites and prey that the Canopic jar dropped, then when it finally did drop, I realized I needed 40k to make it, 40k was a lot of gold back then.
Your one of the very few youtubers who when I see has uploaded im genuinely excited.

I remember getting the vial of the sands formula first try when I was in cataclysm! I was so shocked I then had to spend weeks grinding out the mats until I could make it myself lol. It was so dang hard.
Did not know the Salty title was that rare. Definitely one of my crown achievements in WoW then :p
Getting the Esteemed title for grinding 100 reps is a suggestion. Luckily this is now like a meta achievement
The Booty Bay Fishing Contest is WAY easier than is used to be. It makes a HUGE different. Just make sure to set your hearthstone to the inn in Booty Bay before the tourney starts.

Weird, I got the Crawdad box pretty easy a long time ago. My problem is no matter how often I've fished I can seem to find one of those weird "X pound fish" you need for another part of the achievement. That and I've never won Booty Bay either.
So, I'm going to try doing Booty Bay again. Thanks for reminding me. I want that Salty title now.
I honestly has NO IDEA that Salty was that rare of a title. I farmed this a few years back because I wanted the heirloom ring so I figured I would just do the achievement (this was the tournament I won for the achievement. Luckily got it on my second try). The coins definitely took me probably 15 hours of fishing.
To keep with the archaeology theme, the "Seeker of Knowledge" title in Pandaria was an insane grind.
One kind of "grind" I'd love to see revisited ahead of Classic WoW is the BiS gearing of a PvP Twink. Getting a 19 twink to it's max potential was insanely hard and then 49 was even crazier. All the items, pots and of course the fishing head. :P

The competition isn't that based on luck. I came in 3rd in my first attempt and then won 4 of them (first place) in a row just to guarantee my self getting all the rewards. Just start from the Northwestern part of the upper stranglethorn zone and follow that river south, ones you get to the open lake fish around in it and then head back up(north) again and repeat.
Never ever go further south and make sure that you don't try to compete against other players for those poles, you have a higher chance of getting more fish in that way. There might only be 1 more fish in that pole, but you might be able to snag 2 before some random wants to swoop in and steal it. As soon as you hit 40 fish take HS.
Equipment
- (Pole) Bone Fishing Pole from fishing dailies
- (Bait) Worm supreme bait that gave you a lot more fishing skill then it does now.
- (Hat) Nat's Drinking Hat
- (Boots) None,
Skill was 600 if I remember correctly.
-(Utility) Find fish tracking really helps for this as well.
-(Server Pve) I didn't get ganked but my last attempt I got a griffer on me who jumped on top of my fishing bobber, funny thing was that I still won and that guy lost it :D
Take HS in Bootybay or get the boots.
It took me around 11 minutes for my fastest and 19 for my slowest to catch all the fish and this was back in WOD if anyone was wondering
Sadly most people will have the Artifact rod now. So you might have a harder time then I had.
It might be luck but you can increase your chance to get more luck if you prepare with the right equipment and plan your fishing route.

I was able to get rank 11 on my shadow priest back in the day, that was by far the hardest grind I've ever done in WoW. That's saying something considering I have the Insane title, Salty title and most of the other hardest grind things done on your 3 lists so far.
That jar still haunts me. It's out there in the sand, somewhere. Taunting me.
I got the Salty on my mage, started in vanilla times. I remember when trying for the fishing contest in BB, people brought a group of friends to both protect you and to kill of any enemy players to increase the chance that the fisherman they protected would get the achievement. I was on a rather low pop server for a while, so I guess I got lucky there.
The Vial of the Sands mount wasn't the first multi-seat mount; in WotLK, the bosses in the Vault of Archavon had a low (very low) chance of dropping the Grand Black War Mammoth, a three-seat (ground) mount.
