meine hamburger oma macht den nicht mit mayonnaise sondern einfach essig und öl etwas brühe und noch etwas schinken oder ein gekochtes kalbsschnitzel. dann wurde mit gekochten eiern garniert und mit petersilie und kleingahckten rote beete wie ein windrad oben in der schüssel. bin selbst achtzig und mache den immer noch an heiligabend und mein ältester sohn inzwischen auch. danke, gutes rezept.

You can leave out the potatoes because in the north of Germany they spread it on bread, but it can also be eaten with boiled potatoes and fried potatoes. I'll take pickles. Oh yes, every federal state, 16 of which are in Germany, has its own eating and drinking culture. This is because Germany was not a united country before the 18th century. In Bavaria, potato salad is prepared with oil, in the east and north with mayonnaise.

I use German barrel pickles, the brand is Hengstenberg. But you can also use dill pickles.
