    At this point, it feels like learning about the Kibbe and Kitchener systems was just a step towards understanding how you talk about style. Even though you're inspired by them, you create comprehensive guides to style that touch on super useful things that we could never learn from reading their books, and honestly I like the outfits you put together more than their examples, too. Like... yeah you're talking about their systems, but your take on things feels so elevated that it feels like you're the next level.

      This is such a kind compliment and it really means a lot! I truly have a lot of respect for Kitchener and Kibbe and I don't want to infringe or spread misinformation. So I'm glad that people can appreciate my pov and my skill set and see how it overlaps or could be potentially used with such great creators systems! Thank you again, this made my day!

    That was amazing! You're amazing! And that fabric 😍 Random anecdote: Back in the 70s, my mom's uncle (who was a sailor) gave her a gorgeous piece of a similarly colored blue silk from China and she made a "Jackie O" style suit. I absolutely loved looking at and touching it. I secretly wanted to wear it when I grew up, but it's long-since disappeared. This brought back a sweet childhood memory. ❤

    I love this series, especially in how you talk about fabric weight! This is something i was thinking about independently (I wear a lot of long skirts in linen but i've been realizing lately it's a heavier fabric than i want to wear) and so you getting into the details of what shapes different fabrics make has been so visually helpful. I also love seeing your fashion designs with the fabric in question, and I'm grateful you spotlighted classic in this one! I also like your thoughts about how fast fashion impacts the industry and makes it less likely that any of us are wearing tailored pieces.

    I think this could work as dramatic (big scale, heavier weight) + ingenue (small flowers) blend, I see both boldness and delicacy. At least it was my first thought how to make it work.
    If the print was in black&white I would definitely place it in dramatic+ingenue category.
    And overall I have a soft spot for dramatic+ingenue blend so I'm obviously biased.
    Btw, whose small scale flowers in darker prints from grunge aesthetic are dramatic+ingenue+natural for me. Your "intense relaxation" definition was so good and insightful.

    Great job, once again. 🤩The part where you showed your own designs really elevated this video to the next level. As I was watching, I was trying to imagine what I personally would make from that fabric for each of the types. For example, for the dramatic I immediately thought about a long panel dress, for the romantic my mind went straight to drapes (even though you explained why that wouldn't work with such a stiff fabric!) and for gamine I imagined a short 60s dress. I've been learning about style, but this really showed me how I am still kind of limited in my understanding of what suits the different types! Once you revealed your designs I was each time so impressed with how exciting they felt. I mean, I was only able to imagine 3 simple dresses out of that fabric but yours were all so distinct! I can totally imagine Cate Blanchett wearing a cape like that and Helena Bonham Carter on the red carpet in that romantic dress.
    In the beginning of this video I thought that the fabric with its opposing elements (stiff fabric, dainty pattern) would make it hard for anyone to pull off, but you showed the versatility of it and it gave me a lot to think about. I'll have to go and look again at some of the garments in my own wardrobe that I have deemed "too hard" to wear! 😁

    • @Gabriellearrudadesign
      @Gabriellearrudadesign  4 месяца назад +1

      I'm so glad it helped you expand your interpretations of the fabric! I love to design, so this was a fun exercise for me as well. A short 60's dress would have also been fun for the gamines!

      I've been typed with 2 of those & am 5'2" - I just tend to wear well-fitted tops & high waisted straight or flare pants that flow long to the floor...& high waisted midi (not maxi unless a hi-low form) length skirts. As a soft gamine in Kibbe, that works ok for me, as long as I keep my fabrics light & mid weight, not heavy & stiff for me. If your Kibbe ID is different than mine, that would change things, I guess.
