Gulzar in conversation with Javed Siddiqi Live at Jashn-e-Rekhta 2017
Gulzar is a celebrated Indian poet, lyricist, writer, and film director. Javed Siddiqi is a Hindi and Urdu screenwriter, dialogue writer, and playwright with over fifty storylines, screenplays and dialogues to his credit. In this session, they discuss how all literary creation is a dream that the writer/ poet lives.
Jashn-e-Rekhta is a unique festival, held annually in Delhi, which celebrates the spirit of Urdu language, literature and culture. Spread over three days, the festival hosts distinguished poets, authors, scholars and artists from the subcontinent and beyond to bring alive the timeless splendour and rich cultural heritage of Urdu.

गुलज़ार साहब और जावेद सिद्दीकी साहब के बीच चली यह बातचीत यादगार और ज्ञान से भरी हुई थी। मीर ताकि मीर साहब, मिर्जा ग़ालिब साहब, फ़ैज़ अहमद फ़ैज़ साहब और गुलज़ार साहब के अल्फाज़ के बारे मे जानकारी लेना। वक्त को अच्छे काम में लगाना था।

As gulzar saab rightly said, the writers, poets , cartoonists, playwrights, painters, etc are the mirrors and best critics of the society they exist and they cant be too involved with themselves alone but bring about changes in the society a sense of awakening through their work-
Here i would mention a couplet which was written by Faiz during his last days which reflected the pakistani society and its decadence which reflects the pain and hurt he feels when he looks at his country and its state of affairs-
" Zard patto'n ka ban yeh mera des hai.
Dard ki anjuman yeh mera des hai.
My request to the comment readers just read this couplet which is part of a big poem, ponder over it and feel it and i am sure you will feel the same pain, it is not only reflecting the state of affairs in pakistan but also our own country which is India and even the world around.

The idea is not here to listen to Gulzar's poetry but discussion on the legendary shayars like Mir, Ghalib, and Zouk so people can enjoy the discussion and learn better Urdu and gain knowledge and develop the better understanding of the legendary Shayars.

Javed Sahab is analyzing Ghalib in front of Gulzaar..! What did he want to prove? I think Gulzar knows about Ghalib more than anyone else in entire universe. Only Ghalib himself could have known more about Ghalib than Gulzar.
That's not true. Gopi Chand Narang is the greatest scholar on Ghalib. But yeah, Javed Sahab is no match to Gulzar when it comes to Ghalib

Javed is a child, he can not be host of Gulzar. Rekhta did a great injustice with Gulzar. When gulzar speaks a river of wisdom of flow but when Javed inturupt him i feel like he is buiding a dam to ristrict the flow of river of wisdom. Please when you do this again invite Gulzar alone and let him talk. (Sorry if i went harsh)

You are wrong brother. If you go through with the context of questions that Javed sahab ask, is very much appreciable. Every question was fruitfully answered by Gulzar sahab. Every question give us the important experienced knowledge, i.e., essential to know via these kinda teachers only.

I completely agree with what you opine about Gulzar as he sometimes kind of tried to avert the questions posed at him but Javed Siddiqui also fumbled terribly and seemed to have forgotten the shers and chronology of events.

The main difference between Jawed Akhtar and Gulzar is that Jawed Saheb forces you to accept what he says whereas Gulzar Saheb leaves you free to make your own assessments... Jawed Siddiqi is not mature enough to appreciate beauty that calls for freedom of thought.. False decency shows easily in one's behaviour ..His dictation to Gulzar Saheb hurts... Rekhta team should think over it ... If one is not mentally free, how can one's creativity fly like a free bird in the open sky..
