1953, Ray Gomez is born in Casablanca, Morocco, Then in 1965 his family moved to Spain. So, besides his music, mr Gomez is far from being American. He didn't get to NY until 1974. Oh and Andy Timmons started having some airplay after 1989, with the band Danger Danger, by this time Ray was 36 and had recorded and played with the most influential artists of the time. The man is just a living legend.
Huge fan here. Check out his work with Narada Michael Walden "garden of love light", Stanley Clarke "school days", A band from NY called "Medusa", and many others. He's been around for a long time. A truly tasteful musician. One of my favorite American guitar players.
Does anyone have the full color version of this tune? This guy is one of the greats! One of the best fusion guitarists I've ever seen, period. I saw him w/ Stanley several times around Philly in late 70's, always tore the house up. Entertaining to watch as well, cool moves.....
Vaguely reminiscent of ZZ Top's The main riff fo "Jesus Just Left Chicago" but more jazzy. When I was in high school, my friend Don and I would line up Raymond Gomez, Be-Bop Deluxe, Brand X, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Roy Buchanon and get lost. Hahaha! We listened to everything but we's have a "prog" day now and then.
