Love this guys dedication to his craft, does his absolute best and cuts no corners. When he retires he should get a job at a plumbers college teaching the new kids the way it should be done. Well done Roger, good style of presentation as well.
Thank you Roger, really enjoy your videos, your craftsmanship and attention to detail is superb, so hard to find people with this level of skill and care these days.
Thank you for this. My house needs some TLC since it was last done about 15 years ago. I had no idea how much components, sealants and systems had moved on. You are a great presenter and educator. What I learnt from this will help me enormously in planning and specifying.
Amazing job Roger, comprehensive and years of experience all laid out for our benefit. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to make this film, edit, produce. Great job to both you and Dylan. Thanks guys 👌🏼🏴👍🏼
Fantastic bathroom and amazing attention to detail. One thing is certain: whoever gets Roger B to do work on their house is extremely fortunate as it guarantees the highest quality work done with experience, skill, and intelligence.
The reason my bathroom is still a mess because I can’t find a good bathroom fitter to do a job like this😭 Majority of people spend thousands on a lovely bathroom but after 12 months trouble starts and mould growth because they have not sealed it like we have seen on hear. To many cow boys who just wants a quick pay day.
Thanks Shane A lot of people think that pre wall takes up too much space but having everything recessed into it makes the room look less cluttered. I am a huge fan of this approach.
I’ve never had a tradesman video that doubled up as a sleep aid before but what a lovely way to fall asleep, listening to ol’ Roger and that relaxing music 😂 only issue I have is how much all that kit would cost, would price it out of us normal folks league.
Roger, You are a real skilled Pro. Your instructions are clear and precise. It's a treat to watch you and learn from you. Thanks. With my very best wishes, David.
Hi Roger, love that ratchet spanner 😉. Totally agree with you on 1.5" basin waste but I always use 2" for bath & shower (run separately back to the stack) I really like the way you work, neat, tidy & methodical 👍👍. Shower room looked a treat when finished, you should be well chuffed. Really liked the editing as well, great video 😜 Hope you have a great weekend Regards Tim
I am with you on your campaign! I change from the inch and a quarter drain tailpiece immediately to inch and a half all the way down to the dwv. I also will bring 2 in as close to the tub shoe as possible in case people want to change to a shower later but don't want to move the drain to the center, which is usually what I would do.
Must be in a nice soft water area? Can you imagine all the hard water deposits on those black fittings and soap residues as well. Call me an old cynic. Lovely work Roger, as always.
Beautiful bathroom finish. I can imagine it be a very pricey job with all that alien tech 🤣 inside. Superb video Roger and just shows there are tradesmen out there who care. Thank you
Been watching this channel and Robins channel for a long time now. Always enjoy your content, and i have to say, this is one of the best, if not THE best tutorial videos for people on RUclips! Good job Roger as always 👍🏼
Lovely job there roger, we try to do the same sort of thing with our installs, trouble is most of the people that ring me for a quote want it done as cheap as possible !!!! And don’t want to pay anything like going down the abacus route , we do get the odd customer that has had a bad experience so now they want it done properly , but it seems to be that way now, like they almost have to have a bad experience with a cheap install first to realise. Anyway great work on getting content out there on how it should be done
You are a master craftsman. Impeccable attention to detail 👌 Just about to complete on a new house 🤞 and you are making my mind race with ideas. Excellent work. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely bathroom and fantastic thought out design. Very rare for any bathroom fitter to be like this. Roger can elements boards be plastered? Im looking to only half tile my bathroom except for the shower area so that i can paint the ceiling and walls the same colour
@@SkillBuilder 😂 I'll stick to the day job. I bet you get people all over the country offering you too money to come and fit their expensive German / Italian bathrooms? There's nothing worse than splashing out on expansive bathroom wear & tiles only for it to be installed badly 😓
Love your details job!! How much it cost for your excellent work on bathroom project like this? Tired of expensive contractors with low skill and terrible finish.
Love yours and robins videos, great work keep it up. Question, can I assume the shower wall and floor junction/transition had waterproof membrane applied. From a viewers perspective it looks like the most important joint missed the belt and braces approach. Cheers john
Roger at 12.55 into your video you talk about the crimp fit system. Any chance Skill builder could do a stand alone video on this as I want to specify this in my refurb but want to know what is good and bad about it.
Roger, can you do a video on different silicone's as I've to remove my newly installed walkin shower screen due to crap silicone I was sold in the local hardware. I myself done a test with the crap everbuild silicone, dow silicone and unibond silicone, where I put a 4inch line of each on a scrap tile and tried to remove them, 1st place dow, 2nd unibond, 3rd everbuild which I managed to pull off like a plaster!
Never rely on silicone, it will let you down eventually. We use a waterproof tape called No More Leaks which comes in the installation kit. You will never get it off. We then have the tile and then silicone but if that fails the water finds its way into the trap.
Great job! Would a house that has this standard of fittings normally run a water softener? I assume it would help with less issues and maintenance on all the inbuilt components?
I kind of agree about the black finish but my wife wants it and I am telling her no. I remember the days of white sinks and white sink taps. Nobody wanted chrome and stainless steel and then suddenly white was gone and chrome and steel were back in. All work for plumbers
Nothing in the comments about the (pipework) crimping system used - can you please share? Thank you (top work BTW, I can only aspire to this level of both diligence and competency!)
Will dot and dab alone hold up these boards with heavy tiles or do you have to put mechanical fixings as well? When it comes to fixings like showers, screens etc what type of fixings would you use if using the dot and dab method. Thanks
Looks great Roger! The Abacus hardware certainly looks like it's made to last, with high quality materials and lots of adjustment. I noticed the lever valves inside the wall... can these be accessed from an inspection panel? Also, I wondered what a ballpark cost for a bathroom like this is, less the labour?
Edward We will get the price for the kit this week. As for access, I hate the panels. These valves are accessed by sliding out the shelf. That is what I try to do but sometimes it is necessary to take the cupboard out if there is no shelf. Better still is to put them in the airing cupboard.
@@SkillBuilder Thanks. I figured there would be a way to access them, but you're right inside an airing cupboard if it's available is a great option :)
