Does the Deep Dive map function reflect the current level of the lake? New Melones is down 165’ from full (so far), and the apps and I have seen show it when full. I could use a highlighter on contour lines, but it’s a lot of extra work.
You hand out the greatest fishing facts available. I cannot possible express how grateful I am to have a chance to hear your input. You are concise, no riff-raff non sense. Pure fishing intel. Thanks so much Ty, it is greatly appreciated. If you would, could you maybe cover musky, and/or pike? I’m in an area of Ontario that is just plum full of these gators, and would love your input. Regards, Cam.
Great video and even better information. The best part is you explain it so people don't have to go out and buy 500-1,000 dollar dedicated setups. Simplicity is best.
Solid informative video Tyler. Well presented and to the point. You’re a good teacher. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience. Continued success to you & your family. I especially appreciate this video b/c I’m new to larger swim-baits and glides.
Of all the techniques 5"+ swimbaits is something I struggle with , several years ago I was throwing 4.8 keitechs and was catching them pretty good, not sure why but can't seem to catch a bass on one now, in the last several years I've caught more non target species on them , catfish, gaspergou and even a walleye
Bill Dance had a show not to long ago bout adding a 4 single size hook where a treble factory hook was to help with skipping & weedless. It has been a lethal 8" shad lure I use many times now when fishing weed, limb & lay down, docks & lilly areas. I watch your feed every chance I get, & use all your tips & tricks. Thanks
Just go straight to the 8" magdraft. I live in nh and fish mostly small ponds and lakes. The 8" is intimidating at first but it out fishes the 6" all day.
Just in time, Just what i am waiting for ! By the way, every show you make is made for me. Many Many Thanks for that. Fishing the lower Potomac first time on the weekend, Perfect timing !!!
i had 3 bites and caught two 3 pounders on an 8 inch glide yesterday. even though the fish weren't big it was the 1st time all my bites came exactly when i was expecting to get bit. definitely a huge boost of confidence.
I throw the Magdraft and 4.8 Kytec on 7ft carbon fiber spinning rod from Ugly Stik med/fast $40.00 and a $40.00 reel with 15lb power pro!! It's a blast with being able to spinning gear on some of those "starter swimbaits" especially if your on a budget.
Great video Tyler. I am going to start using the swimbaits more this year. Could you do a video on how to rig the boot tail using a coffee stir? God Bless.
Sup. Great video. I got hooked on the baby bucca swimbait, I have 2 megabass swimbait with built in treble hook and a lunkerhunt that has the straw and trebble hook just havnt tried them, yet. Will make the adjustments you showed and give it a try. My 2022 goal is to use some of the baits I havnt tried! So perfect timing. Ty for the tips while I have time to make the adjustments. Unfortunately my slowest reel is 7:1, I use with the bucca but slowly. Do they also work good on a spinning combo 6'6"?
Agreed, idk why all these guys through 6" magdrafts or swimbaits on 20lb. I've been fishing magdrafts for couple years now & I use 14lb floro & it has really good action & I don't break them off
I make my own baits. I have a 5.6” prey bait I’m going to start making. I know you said clear water is best, slightly stained is ok. Here near lake Houston, we have dirty water. 6” or less visibility in a lot of areas. Would a black swimbait work in this area? Night time?
Great video. Do you fish the freestyle? I haven't had as much luck with it. Any tips? Unrelated: I fished the Gilly today and found the nose hook takes longer to sink and has to fish slow to stay upright. The 5/O screwlock hook thru that bottom groove was awesome. It gets down faster and fishes upright really well. I let it sink reeled a bit and let it dive, reeled and let it dive. I got a nice bite, set the hook and didn't have drag set, swung over my shoulder and hit a tree. I lost the fish but gained confidence in that hook set up and start stop retrieve. I had to stop when my guides started icing up which causes a handful of awful outcomes. Is there anything worse than swinging on a fish with no drag? I hate myself!! Great tips on Gilly set ups. Just wanted to say thanks. A nail weight will improve that nose hook. Thoughts on freestyle appreciated. Great channel bud!!!
I really love fishing but have a lot of trouble with bass. I mostly fish for cats and have good luck. I'm on the verge of just saying "screw it" and giving up on bass.
OH...if you can send me a cap, better send me one for my 9yr old grandson, he even has his own matching fishing jersey to match mine. Boat been busted, apparently when someone sales you a $18K bass boat thats supposedly lake & tourn ready. Means just the opposite, havent been able to fish out of it since purchased in Aug. 2021.. so every dime I get extra cheddar it goes into parts & repairs. Which I also found when you pay a big, fancy boat repair shop $3k to try make it stay running with new fuel pump, doesnt mean they know what they're doin & it'll run when told its ready to pick up. Thank you & I need to do a video on what to check & look for when buyin a boat, & how to check which marine shops to trust with your high dollar investment?🤨 I didnt know any of this, Im old school; was taught everything was built on trust of a man word & handshake. Apparently not nowdays..so no cheddar for gear or repairs, which luckly my dad taught me at early age to be my own mechanic. Except none of it was marine topics..😳
I'm jumping in next season on the 6" magdraft. I see it weighs 1 and 1/4 ounces, and it is tough finding a MH that reaches that 1 and 1/4 weight. I find more times than not that a rod struggles to achieve the "listed" upper range for lure weight. I noticed during the video the black rod with blue trim and followed up on it. I'm not sure but seems it is an Okuma TCS "a" series rod of theirs. The one that is listed for swimbait/frog is a 7'3 Heavy power, fast action, rated for 1/4 to 2 oz. lure weights. I've had a couple Okuma rods and they've been pretty decent. Would you say this would be a good match for the magdraft, although rated for a heavier bait as well? A great video (as you never disappoint), and I would much be interested in and grateful for a video on your coffee stirrer walk-through in rigging the 5.8' keitech fat through-line style.
Nearly all of the big names in bass fishing education say don't invest in a swimbait rod to throw a magdraft and dip your toes in the water. They pretty much all say toss it on your favorite jig rod and catch some fish. I'd be willing to say he only threw a higher rated rod here bc he already owned it. I've been using a St Crioix Victory Full Contact Finesse 7'4 H without feeling overwhelmed on both magdraft and s waver 168s
Hey Ty, I’m about to fish this weekend in the coldest open water I’ve ever fished. Does anyone have good advice for cold water Fishing in NH so it’s cold and inconsistent
Me sitting here with my 8:2:1 shimano 😬 I noticed how much slower I had to reel in these baits because of my gear ratio. It was much easier with my 5:6:1 spinning reel
Can you give me some device? It cold in Michigan and I will be fishing all next week. My lake is barely 40. Any tips? I watch your videos all the time but this time I just want a little advice. I’m not that bad. Use a lot. Was just curious
Hey Bennie! I know you watch my videos often and I appreciate it. Honestly I would think that you should be able to catch fish in a ned rig, a blade bait or a Jerkbait. I am assuming the water is fairly clear. Michigan lakes will have grass early, sometimes bass will move to those clumps quick and you can catch them on a Jerkbait. If the bass are relating to deeper rock, I would pick up a Ned rig or a blade bait. Drag the ned slowly and make small hops with the blade bait slowly
Idk what it actually is, but it’s pretty slow. So if you need to throw it around 2-3 feet of water you can def do that. (Unless you have lots of grass)
The magdraft is a terrible swimbait. No action, burns out easy, and bottom rigged trebles are terrible. You don't need an expensive rod or reel for swimbaits. I've thrown heavy weights with many rod and reel setups and nothing has been better than my 6'6 Daiwa moderate/fast with a laguna 4500. I've pulled 30lb+ stingrays on top of of those weights and and never had an issue. With heavy swimbaits you want a MH rod with a fast/extra fast tip, something like a 85/15 or 90/10. The fast tip allows for better casts in tighter areas by storing more energy in the rod tip and a better feel for the bait in the water. If you want to do it cheap, get a Penn Fierce 3 for $60 right now and remove the automatic bail close mechanism under the spool. It's more than enough for any swimbait on the market.

Just caught my first glide bait fish this past weekend. Was certainly an exciting catch. I like fishing the soft swim baits. Done nicely with them.

Definitely the easiest, most instructive swimbait videos I’ve seen.
Nice job, Ty! I am very impressed with those tips. I am trying it out because you gave me confidence with this presentation.
Excellent video Tyler really enjoyed it! Awesome info man Thank You!
I'm transitioning from watching tactical bassin to your channel love the videos.

Awesome explanation and those stinger hooks do work well. Never noticed witch one was hooking what but ill pay more attention to it next catch.

Phenomenally impactful video. Thank you so much!
Great video .... Got me pumped to go out and try some swimbaits!
Oooooo... Johnny's deepdive ?! Hell yeah.
Great vid. In intrigued with the larger swim/glide baits, but not enough to invest in a new combo. Think the mag draft fits the bill for me. Thanks!
Great video Tyler. I am going to start using the swimbaits more this year. Could you do a video on how to rig the boot tail using a coffee stir? God Bless.
I’d like to see that video also please.
Great tips and tricks. I'm one of those looking for that bigger swim bait bite

If you fish around alot of grass or hard cover get the Magdraft freestyle!! 8/0 Owner Beast hook and Beast flashy swimmer.
Great video. Do you fish the freestyle? I haven't had as much luck with it. Any tips? As usual an excellent informative video
Love me some swim baits! Good stuff!
I have fished with the magdraft but with no luck. I also fish where there is alot of wood.
Great break down
Can you give a tutorial on how you tie that stinger hook?
big bass bites, 5 inch hook threw the bait is my favorite swim bait
Hi! Thanks for the vid! Can i use my kvd rod xheavy for the 6 inch magdraft?
What reel were you using again?

Good video. I fish a lot of kite tech. I like to see how you rig it

This is a whole nother topic but what spinning rod and reel do you prefer for skipping docks?

Would a 6.8 ratio work? I don't have anything lower than that.
What do I gotta do to get me one of them caps? Need one to add to my fishing cap collection, I actually wear all my caps at events theyre made for..🤠
I’ve caught some of my best smallies using a big keitech at night.
Got 'em!
Hey Ty, I’m about to fish this weekend in the coldest open water I’ve ever fished. Does anyone have good advice for cold water
Fishing in NH so it’s cold and inconsistent
Look for the comment by Bennie Maxwell. Tyler answers a similar questions. My advice is, search RUclips for videos about winter bass.
Try the beast coast Miyagi!
Me sitting here with my 8:2:1 shimano 😬 I noticed how much slower I had to reel in these baits because of my gear ratio. It was much easier with my 5:6:1 spinning reel
I have the same swim bait. One thing is stay away from gar. They will tear it up
Bro please come venture las vegas ponds I promise itll be a challenge
What about smaller because i usually use 3in. And always struggle to get length on cast because of how light it is
Lighter line and lighter rod will help
I've been throwing mine on a 9:1 gear ratio I'm going to have to swap reels out
Whats a good swimbait rod thats not a dedicated swimbait rod?
I talk about it in the video
@@BassFishingHQ my bad i try to be the first and ask a question
I throw my 6" magdraft freestyle on a 7'2" heavy expride.

good video1 thanks
The thumbnail shows a top hook bait, which bait is that?
The same one I talk about in the video. Magdraft with a stinger treble hook
@@BassFishingHQ I can see it now thank you
@@BassFishingHQ do you ever just fish it as a took hook?

The app is a data mining tool. You provide the data. Then the app owners sell it back to you. Worse, they sell your spots to someone else 😆 🤣 😂
What's the drop rate on a mega bait at
1 1/4 oz ....?
Idk what it actually is, but it’s pretty slow.
So if you need to throw it around 2-3 feet of water you can def do that. (Unless you have lots of grass)
Swimbait
The magdraft is a terrible swimbait. No action, burns out easy, and bottom rigged trebles are terrible. You don't need an expensive rod or reel for swimbaits. Magdraft is not terrible. I’ll have to just agree to disagree with you on that one. Maybe you are fishing it too fast
