Most kids growing up in certain neighborhoods would defend themselves by all means. So, in the moment, they don’t see murder as wrong.

Even for people who suffer from severe mental illness, being found incompetent to stand trial is something that happens very rarely in the criminal justice system. The standard for being incompetent to stand trial isn’t simply that you suffer from a mental illness, and it is very difficult to meet. In order to be found incompetent to stand trial, one of the following requirements must be met:
The defendant does not understand the nature and object of the proceedings against him or her. In order to meet this standard, the defendant cannot have even a minimal understanding of his or her role as a defendant, the role of the judge, the prosecutor, or the defense attorney, the penalties that he or she is facing as a result of being charged with a crime, or the criminal process. A defendant who does not understand the nature and the object of the proceedings against him or her is most typically someone with extremely low intelligence, or who is suffering from significant psychosis.
The defendant is unable to assist in his or her defense in a rational manner. In order to meet this standard, the defendant is unable to do things like discuss with his or her attorney the facts of the case, rationally make decisions regarding things like plea offers or whether or not to testify on their own behalf at trial. A defendant who is unable to assist in his or her defense in a rational manner is likely suffering from severe psychotic symptoms.
If a person does meet one of the two requirements to meet the standard for being incompetent to stand trial, the Court will order that person to undergo treatment, supervised by the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry. The Forensic Center, or another psychiatric hospital working at their direction, will treat the defendant to attempt to restore them to competency.
A finding that someone is incompetent to stand trial does not mean that the defendant will no longer be prosecuted for the crime for which they are charged. Being found incompetent to stand trial means something very different than being found not to be criminally responsible due to insanity. A defendant who has been found incompetent to stand trial will be administered treatment for up to 15 months in order to attempt to make them competent to stand trial. After a defendant is restored to competency, they will return to the court system to enter a plea, have a trial, or in some manner adjudicate their case.
If a defendant is being treated for his or her inability to understand the nature and the object of the proceedings, they will likely go through training and education to try to teach them about the court proceedings, including their role as a defendant, and the role of the judge, the prosecutor, and the defense attorney. The forensic center will work with them on education regarding the criminal process, and work through how they might evaluate a situation like a plea offer from the prosecuting attorney.
If a defendant is being treated for his or her inability to assist in his or her defense in a rational manner, he or she may receive medication as well as therapy to treat their condition.
In many cases, a defendant who has been found incompetent to stand trial both cannot understand the nature and the object of the proceedings, and is unable to rationally assist in his or her defense. In those cases, treatment is likely to include medication, therapy, and education.
Treatment for defendants who are found incompetent to stand trial is most often on an inpatient basis, and defendants will not be free to come and go from the treating facility, whether that is the forensic center or another psychiatric hospital. However, visits from family members and attorneys are generally permitted during the time that the defendant is receiving treatment at those facilities.

Maybe Regret actually having to punish the kid after his future 2nd or 3rd Murder...No regret for the next homicide victims at all...or even public embarrassment for allowing no cash bail on a individual that would probably like prison cause it's Cool just like back-shooting murder for fun with no motive, no argument escalating, no 2 different gang efiliations crossing paths at public place, no drug deal gone bad, no stacks of $20 bills to gank or jewelry to snatch, or Expensive clothing to rob, or self defense. Literally gain nothing and know exactly what's going to happen pulling the trigger of a gun point-blank range at a person with their back turned. They know they are going for a homicide kill when the person getting shot thinks it's totally safe to have their back turned to this individual they already know and is going about normal life like walking away from a person as we All do everyday going somewhere. Last thing on anybody s mind is hey I need to blast someone in the back walking away from me today. 🤔 No legitimate reason or cause or crime to commit to benefit from, or desperation from being confused, NOTHING 👀 BUT, it'll be Cool watching myself put a bullet in another kid with witnesses to brag about it 🤔 hmmm. They know what jail is, they know what happens if you get caught murdering, they know about court, they know what life in prison means, they know what goes on in prison, they know the relatives of the person who's getting shot down is going to be devastated, they know the Police, Detectives, and Homicide Unit is going to be All over the scene of their shooting and a dead bloody person left in public, on a sidewalk, parking lot, Burger King, City Park, Basketball Ball game, there's no hiding it!!! And the risk of getting charged in committing it is pretty good when you murder the way of Showing Off.
Forsaken All the 2nd 3rd degrees of punishment, or family turmoil, kids put into foster care cause that was their only parent, or the kids catch the coffin ride as well with the non gangmember non violent parent being hunted in own neighborhoods just to watch them die from My barrel slinglin bullets into them as they run and duck and cover. Like the relief a hunter experiences from not letting a spooked , on the run, trophy deer getaway and live from pulling out the best shots possible to end it's Life. But they do eat the meat, mount it, control population, obey the season, don't shoot the babies, don't shoot the mother anywhere close to breeding or birth cycle months to not orphan Fawns, let most Deer they see during a season walk on, but still get the thrill of a Worthy kill and it's respect from peers and Cool Guy status. But this Hunter isn't destroying lives like these Hunters of Humans That literally wake up during the day or night , grab a bite, sit at same kitchen table topping off magazines with hollow points, meet up with with at least one buddy to cover passenger side of car at the rare happening minimum , and ride city blocks, cruise neighborhood drives with All the Still Nice Old School Cozy Front Porch houses, that's 6ft to 10ft apart from each other and backyards are houses butted up to each other. And literally adults and late teens and early teens and pre-teens, and younger are roaming to find that kill. Or you can be the one's with same demographic ages being inside the dense close houses catching bullets as cars are driven down a whole block or 2 dumping magazines empty from the 4 people yanking the 4 triggers simultaneously aiming at 4 neighbors walking On sidewalks and killing 4 + plus black people in own living rooms of houses for refusing to get out and hunt a Human in their car too , spraying bullets where infants and toddlers live and play on the porches and too small to take any gunshot wound and stay alive lONGer than 5min. period. Muchless 9milli and .40cal hollow points. Cause they are sport shooting to drop dead anything/ anybody that's crossing an intersection on foot.
That's not grown outlaw gangster on gangster rmurder.... It's straight up War Lord Genocide of Own Race Using Children Soldiers As Exterminator Squads. It's not a phase or trend or some b.s. behaviorial psychological disorder they just discovered that 12 year old children 👉 6th graders, do a little murder homicide out of thrill of the kill with no motive no fighting over a cause, no defending anyone or property... and then they grow up or out of it... And there is Mental Wards and Non Prison Cell Facilities for 24 7 Holding And Security Monitoring.
Not to give a Cold Cold Murderous Child Backshooter of a harmless Kid
to same parental guidance that's deemed "close supervision" . There's no telling what he's done wHEN nobody was watching. If he can hold up a handgun with barrel aimed and knowing full well he was going to kill him from pulling the Trigger firing into other kids back. That's called a homicidal tendency ideation with commitment for murderous Act.
AKA... NOT slipping up out of anger and getting pissed, or mislead into killing, Or having to do it while committing crime. And the Adults, Cops, Parental Guardian, Courts, Judge, and System just conveyed that you are not behaving that bad and not taken seriously. Umm Umm

Everyone in a family may not let someone take their loved family members life. And permit the killer to walk free with a slap on the wrist probation like nothing happened. The boy that died may have teenage relatives who may not let this slide. Especially if the relatives are affiliated with a gang lifestyle.

We had our system that was slow, and corrupt and the Taliban developed a superior system that was quick and very fair.
As an added bonus they did not require prisons. They followed the punishment as prescribed by the Koran.
Believe you me, the first time you see a man without a figure or a hand. You will think twice before stealing or raping a child.
Prisons do nothing to deter the criminal.
Oh you want to give me free room and board? Awesome, you mean that I don’t have to work for my meal? Awesome sauce!

    He is getting probation, supervision
, and anger management classes, which he needs to not be a repeat offender. He should only be charged as a Juvenile Delinquent meaning the longest he could or should receive would be Juvenile Detention until 18, then Prison until 25. We also don’t know the shooting circumstances. Xs one of his friends was stabbed and so maybe it was justifiable under self defense.

Yeah because when I was 12 I didn't understand that taking someone's life was a bad thing either. You know, most 12 year olds don't know that murder is wrong.------Said no sane person ever!! He needs to be held accountable for his actions...period!!

How tragic and disappointing. He may have only been 12, but to say he was incompetent is really stretching it. If he was that damn incompetent, he wouldn't have confessed so quickly. He knew what he did.

My condolences and prayers to the mom.
We need to pray for all of our kids. Let's not
make this an isolated incident. When something
like this happens, we should all be concerned. It' s
easy to say lock this kid up and everything will be fine.
Yes, It will be until it happens with a different kid.
Prayers and blessings to all involved.

I’m so torn on this. He MURDERED someone! He took a innocent CHILD for no reason! He should have more of a punishment. I do believe that young teens that commit murder shouldn’t get life or a lot of time but they should get something. A LOT of therapy. A LOT of counseling. Some time in a rehabilitation center specializing in young offenders. But he definitely shouldn’t be allowed to do what he wants.
