I just so glad that i was born in the 70"s in California with all this FUNK.Where else would you grow up and not listen to these great slaps they make. Cali sun shine Sac-town Meadowview raised on this.man
I remember when this came out it was the only thing by Dam Funk I could find, the Rhythm Trax release was impossible, so I listened to these two songs over and over and over to get my fill because there's nothing else like this
MY GOD I am obsessed with that keyboard rhythm around 0:12 that appears throughout the song. Weird how a certain rhythm like that can send me down memory lane. those keys only last for 2 seconds but its more than enough...it adds SO much to the beat, another layer.
Respect to my West side fam. LA to the Bay does it big, props to SoCal climate. We listened this sound on the East too: - One Way - Kleeer - SOS Band - BB&Q Band - Sylvers - Midnight Star - Loose Ends (of course) ...etc. Philly represent, 105.3 fm! Dam Funk bringing it back & beyond, sunset sounds...
@MarqRaymond "People always wanna quantize and make things perfect but... if you listen to Parliament... each dude has their own thing goin on" Marcus Miller, 2001
@MarqRaymond Thats why like dilla I dont quantize much if any of my music. It give the music a more human feel. But dont get me wrong its a hard cross to bear keeping accurate time with complex patterns and rythms
@MarqRaymond hell naw, matter of fact they don remember have of the funk b/c they was gone, on another planet, where they walked around enjoyed the air...

Dam Funk is a 8o's baby, this sounds like some Paul Hardcastle stuff from 86, holla
lol @ people who think this is "off beat" or something...they have no sense of rhythm. this song has a very strong groove.
there are no words for dams voice, dam and his dx-tom-alpha-jx3p trax
Quality slice of music

sure, try also Samon Kawamura and Grooveman Spot. They're fine beat-makers, good disciples of J-Dillah and Madlib
