Brilliant video. We've wanted to catch local buses in Bali but could never find information. So thank you so much for this. Will definitely download the app when were in Bali
Yeah it took me a while to figure it out. I have a friend who catches the bus most days, so I picked her brain for info and then decided to just try it out for myself. It’s surprisingly good. There are still a few pain points, but it’s perfect for trips where you have a little bit more time and are happy to walk to the bus stop.
Ha! That’s my style. I don’t really care where I end up. Just get off and have a wander around. Once I’m done, get back on again and go somewhere else. If you get back on within the 90 minute limit, it’s free!
Thanks so much. I'm in Bali for several months and I often ask about these buses. I also had trouble finding out information about them. This is such an formative video. Thanks again Adam☺☺
Great guidance Adam - thank you. I would prefer to travel by bus any day, so it's great to know there's a cheap transport option & with much less hassle than taxis. ☺
This was so informative that I shared it to a Bali Facebook page. Thanks for all the work you have done making Bali videos. I will miss you on my screen.
Thanks for this video 😊 I don't drive, so I use public transport at home, and I love using it overseas for all of the reasons you mentioned. I'll definitely do this next week when I arrive
Fantastic! The bus system in Bali isn't perfect, but if you're a regular public transport user, you won't mind doing a bit of walking to and from bus stops, changing buses in odd spots and interacting with other bus users. I actually enjoy it!
Brilliant vlog. A real public service announcement that helps people. Another form of transportation in Sanur is the green bongos running up and down Jl Tamblingan. Any idea how they work. Are they like the hop on hop off baht buses in Thailand maybe?
I don’t know how the green bongos running up and down Tamblingan work. I probably should find out. In most Indonesian cities you can just jump on and up for a small fee. It should be like that in Sanur, but I’m not sure how they charge.
Nice one. I find buses to be incredibly difficult to figure out. It's not like a train with a fixed route. Buses tend to weave in and out streets and if you don't have a route map, it's really difficult. At least with the Mitra Darat app you know what the story is in Bali.
Yeah it's getting busier. I think it comes in bursts as well, because at other times it feels quiet. Definitely busier during the European summer, but also on weekends up near the mall. But still pretty good!
Terima kasih Pak Adam. Istri saya bilang bagus ide. Mungkin kami akan naik bus dari Hyatt ke Ubud pada November. Tuhan tahu saya perlu praktik God knows I need the practice
It's actually a really good service. Just a matter of whether you're willing to put up with some of the negatives (such as journey time) to get some of those positives!
Hey Adam, do you have any idea of what time approx. the earliest bus service is and the last bus service or is it a 24hr service? I really enjoy your videos with great tips.
It’s not 24h and the buses stop at around 10:30. But if you were in Ubud and were trying to get to Kuta at 10:30pm, it wouldn’t be possible. They are usually already in the bus depot by 10:30pm.
Yes the buses run until about 10:30pm and it’s safe. But just be aware that if you’re aiming for that last bus, you might miss it because timings aren’t always accurate. Leave earlier if you absolutely must catch the bus or just get a cab.
Just to add to that… the buses don’t run that late on all routes. You’ll need to check the apps when you arrive to see is the bus you want is running late. Don’t rely on it.
Wow I didn't know this was an option. Thank you for such a clear guide. Is there any chance I could use the grab app on my phone to pay for myself, husband and kids (3 or 4 tickets), or does everyone need their own? Say we go with that money card, but we only go to Bali once a year, how long would the expiry be on money we have put on the card? Sorry for the tricky questions!
OK, so from what I have seen on the bus, you can use one grab app to pay for multiple people. I saw this when one local guy paid for his whole family. It makes sense because it's simply just a payment method rather than an integrated transport card (which the e-money card tries to do -- like Opal in Sydney, MYKI in Melbourne, Octopus in Hong Kong). I haven't tried it, but I believe you should be able to use the QR code even if you don't have a balance in your Grab Wallet (in other words it will simply debit your attached credit/debit card). In the video I mentioned that you should have money in your Grab Wallet first, mainly because I think this is a safer way. But in reality it probably doesn't matter. The e-money cards don't expire based on time limits. Good questions!
Hello adam. Ive tried to locate the app you suggested. I cant locate it. Im using android. What does the app icon look like. Many thanks. Love the new and old content.
You’re the second person to say this, so there must be some sort of issue. The link is here -> play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ngi.muchi.hubdat&hl=id&pli=1 Let me know if that works
It certainly is strange. I downloaded it from my Australian based iPhone no problem and my Indonesian based android phone was also no problem. But I did the downloading when physically in Indonesia, so that may be the deciding factor.
You definitely learn something new everyday ! That was awesome 👍
Thanks 👍 Really hope you can get some use out of it
Thank you great video & now i know what to do if i want to catch a bus.....
Glad to help

You’re welcome 😊
This is fabulous. Thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Great Info 👍👍
Thanks! Hope it's useful and you can get a ride.
Great info..thanks 😊
My pleasure!
Brilliant 🍻
Thanks!
Very informative, thanks Adam. Tried to find the app back in Oz but I guess you need to do it when in Bali.☺
Yeah I've emailed the ministry to find out if it can be opened up globally. Not sure I'll get a response. 😂
Hey mate
That is awesome! Thanks.
I’m doing that, getting the app & cash card and just going for a ride and looking around Yeah.

Glad it was helpful! There actually isn’t a lot of information out there about the bus system. You kind of need to figure it out yourself. 🤣
I always wondered about how the buses worked so this was very helpful and practical. Thanks again.
My pleasure. I honestly do recommend giving the bus a go if you've got time. Even for a trip into Denpasar to have a poke around is worth it I think.
G😀reat information
Thanks!
Great guidance Adam - thank you. I would prefer to travel by bus any day, so it's great to know there's a cheap transport option & with much less hassle than taxis. ☺
Me too. Even getting an online taxi can be a hassle from time to time. In the future, I'll catch the bus to places that are connected on the network!
This was so informative that I shared it to a Bali Facebook page. Thanks for all the work you have done making Bali videos. I will miss you on my screen.
Thanks. Hopefully it'll get people using the bus a little more.
Excellent information , thanks for putting the time in to put this together
Thanks mate

It is! I highly recommend it at least for a day trip somewhere.

Thanks Adam great information series you have done for your fellow travellers cheers mate
No worries! Glad you're enjoying them.
That was an awesome video Adam thanks so much for sharing this information. 10 out of 10.😊
Thanks for the kind words!
Excellent info thanks Adam.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, this is what I need!
Happy to help!
I took the public bus in Samoa and it was such an amazing experience

@@SanurDiaries yeah I appreciate the tip on the app. I love figuring out buses overseas, I guess it's because I have nowhere to be in a hurry 😅
Terrific! We kept an eye out for you last week but unfortunately no meet.. so busy in north Sanur now!

I reckon it's a great way to get around cheap!
Terima kasih Pak Adam.

heh. Ya begitu Pak. Naik bus ke Ubud lumayan gampang juga!

"Lumayan" ini lumayan berguna juga! Bisa dipake kalau mau jawab "no too bad!"... "lumayan!"

Maaf pak, aku sengaja tidak punya Facebook page untuk satu dan lain hal.

Hi Adam, how long do the e-money cards last for? We come to Bali twice a year, is the card something that we can continue to use on future visits?
Yes, correct. The cards and money don’t expire.
Are the buses air cond?
Yes they are. Nice and comfortable.
Do the buses run at night ? Is it safe at night time ?
Yes the buses run until about 10:30pm and it’s safe. But just be aware that if you’re aiming for that last bus, you might miss it because timings aren’t always accurate. Leave earlier if you absolutely must catch the bus or just get a cab.
