Shyheim (born Shyheim Dionel Franklin on November 14, 1977, in Brooklyn, New York) is a rapper and actor. Already a skilled rapper in his younger years, he became the youngest Wu-Tang affiliate at the time.
After moving to Staten Island from Brooklyn as a child Shyheim spent time living with Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah in the Stapleton Houses. He became affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan and released his first single "On and On" in 1993. Turning the focus on himself and he gritty ghetto surroundings, he rapped "to rap out the realness in the street." He gained fans and won accolades for his inspired Virgin Records debut, "AKA The Rugged Child," which included smash singles like "On And On" rose to number 7 on the Billboard R & B Album chart. At that time Shyheim was a lot younger than the Clan members, but he was giving viewpoints just as real as the Clan, proving he can hang with the rest of the MCs out there. Another album release in '96, The Lost Generation, featured members of G.P. Wu and Brooklyn Zu. He also shared the stage with legendary rappers, The Notorious B.I.G, Tupac Shakur and Big Daddy Kane at Madison Square Garden for a live freestyle session. His prestige also landed him an appearance on Big Daddy Kanes Show & Prove, which featured Wu-Tang member Ol Dirty Bastard, Sauce Money, Scoob Lover and Grammy Award winning rap star, Jay-Z. Shyheim landed a video appearance in TLC's Waterfalls, roles in films: Original Gangstas, In Too Deep, and The Preacher's Wife and also starred in the television show, The Parent Hood. After being arrested in 2001, the young emcee served a prison sentence that led to a 2-year hiatus. In 2007, Shyheim started Bottom Up Records as an opportunity for emerging artists to receive a complete opportunity to record music, learn about the behind the scenes aspects of the industry and to also prep them in company ownership.

It really amazes me how this kid who’s like 14 or something is able to make better music then most rappers today. Modern hip-hop really has to change. Back when youngsters had substance and were tapped into what was going on around them not like today's youth who only care about social media likes and fairness...still bumping this track today, Shyheim was the realest young head back in the day, glad I grew up in the Golden Age of Hip Hop where originality and skills meant something and not everyone was called "Lil" or "Young"...Salute Shyheim ✊🏾✊🏾 waiting for him to drop new darts...and for Vlad to drop the full length interview!!

He's a Wu Tang affiliate that got started rhyming around 13/14 years old. This video came out around 94. This is from his album "Aka the rugged child (94)". His first 2 albums are instant classics👍! His story on how he came up is pretty sad. Just Google his name and you'll either shed a tear or just be mentally blown away.

It’s a shame he was never able to fully reach his potential but he will always be an underrated hip hop legend in my eyes. He worked with a lot of legendary names all at a young age especially Biggie and Tupac.

What goes on in the hood will never stop. The cycle will always continue. All you can do is tell the story through your point of view and then the next generation will do the same.

In New York back then you had to have musicality AND dope lyrics. This13 year old kid had both heavy. Musicality in rap is the ability to mix up the flow without every line being predictable. Biggie Jay-z and Nas were all musical. So was Wu-Tang and a few others.
