Juhu, endlich wieder eine coole Kata als Tutorial. Da ich schon Kanku Dai von Shotokan kenne, freue ich mich die Unterschiede zwischen den Stilen etwas kennen zu lernen.
Fantastic, I have been looking for a good tutorial for this Kata for a while! Sending it to my Personal Study Play List. Looking forward to the rest of the Kata!
Could you make a series about this kata, like you did on empi? I would love to learn this kata if there were a step by step instructions, explaining what leg and hand to move
another great vid! I think it might be to do with the length of it. Performing it 100% in competition may tire some people out which may hinder their later performances. might be to do with the athletic aspect compared to Anan and Ohan kata
I'm a Inoue-ha Shitō-ryū member and we've never let Chatanyara Kūshankū out of our repertoire of Kata, since it's been first brought to public attention in competitions by Hisami Yokoyama, coaches by Sōke Yoshimi Inoue himself. That version of Chatan'yara Kūshankū, slightly different from the original Choshin Nagamine's original version is even nicknamed Yokoyama's Chatan'yara for that reason. My opinion is athletes tend to adapt and modify Kata movements at their own will, taking out the most difficult movements and literally faking them. That's the price of competition karate.
In response to your query, I think it's due to popularity. Kiyou-sama, Kiyuna-sama, Damian Quintero, etc., they all are using this new katas because of the Okinawa karate
Cant understand why this is disappearing. The most beautyfull kata. This is way too hard for me but maybe I start to train it from this video a bit by bit while trading my own grading kata too. Thank you for posting this.
There was actually a scholarly article that was published which shows that chatanyara kushanku is one of the losingest katas. That's probably why it's disappearing from competition/
Maybe just a temporary spell that these other katas are the ones of choice. It used to be Unsu for years everyone would do. In another few years there may be other kata in favour for competition.
First off...thank you! I've been wanting to add this kata to my personal training routing. Granted, I actually prefer the Okinawan version which has very slight differences the biggest being not having that big Unsu like acrobatic jump. Now if you could one day do *Chibana no Kusanku* I'd like you guys even more!
Its disppearing cause the kata were many used for women like sanchez and shimizu, but it doesnt matter. In my country in indonesia athlete in younger age till senior they used it somehow. Osh
@@think4ward ahhh yess but now most of them focus on ground kata. Kiyuna focus on ground kata rather than kata with jumps because his too heavy and ground kata ryuei ryu such anan, anan dai, ohan, and ohan dai were suited for him, its powerful and explosive

Hi, excellent tutorial! Just one question: at 5:33, you go back immediately while doing the grabbing and pulling motion with the right arm. Afterwards you do the arm first, then step back. I assume the first one is correct right?
I always like to compare the Chatan Yara Kushanku from Shito-ryu with the Chatan Yara Kunshanku from Matsubayashi-ryu, it is interesting to see the changes that have happened over the decades that have passed since Shito-ryu acquired it from Matsubayashi-ryu: ruclips.net/video/445vFDiJ0P8/видео.html
Hi Team, great video. I have been doing Shotokan for many years, but am very interested in learning a bit of other styles and katas. Will there be a second part soon?
@@KenSato-IljaSmorguner … haven’t seen your part 2, does not appear to be uploaded (other than part 1 and 5 tips) … please complete part 2, I really enjoyed part 1 🙏
it is disappearing because majority of the competitors think that this Kata is inferior against the new Katas that are rising to fame. I personally felt that way..that this Kata cannot keep up with the likes of Sansai, Ohan Dai etc..but if you look into it, that is not and should not be the case..it all depends on execution, technicality, and athleticism.. that's just my take on it as a Kata practitioner. its subjective..feel free to disagree, and i will not object/argue..have a good day
It’s disappearing because it’s been overused. Typically the first kata learned for someone attempting to jump right into traditional karate for competition.
Hi TEAM KI, Love your vid! Gonna definatly start working on this!! I do have a unrelated kata question though. I am trying to find the name of the kata in the vid below ruclips.net/video/FeFLBpMIee0/видео.html&ab_channel=ShukokaiHelsinki I leant it when I was in me teens, and have been trying to remeber the name of it for years, but this vid (the only one I have been able to find of the kata so far) is mislabled as "Chatanyara no Kushanku". So my question is, do you know the name of the kata in the vid? Thanks for your time! Osu
Nice first attempt, but if you are going to make a video entitled "learn the disappearing Kata" you need to stop pretending you're Rika Usami and slow it down to a teaching speed, then break the kata step by step so that we can actually learn it. The whole time you are just giving pointers to those who already know the kata, you are not actually teaching it.
Please finish your tutorial on this Kata! I know it's a lot of work but I know I & many others benefit from your videos & truly appreciate them!
still waiting for the part 2
i got silver medal in the nationals in my country and guess which kata did i do in the final round? it was Chatanyara Kushanku.🔥🔥
So you won everything beside the round where you did Kushanku.. 😭
It's mean you need to improve your Kushanku dude
Again, great stuff, we’ll done!
Looking forward to Part 2, any idea as to when that will be posted?
We need a part two!
