Thanks so much to everyone for watching my channel over the last 3 years. Make sure you like, comment and are subscribed to be in with a chance to win one of the amazing giveaway prizes - details in the video.
And thank you for teaching us all how to improve our own photography all the best Nigel and well done..OBSERVE MORE SHOT LESS...love that
Thanks for another quietly spoken, beautifully produced video with the usual clear insight on how to capture nature at her prettiest! 👌🏼
Thank you for your excellent videos. I've learned a lot!
We look forward to our Sunday morning inspiration from Nigel!
I’m in awe of your images and appreciate the way they whisper and don’t shout. Your comment to “observe more and shoot less” is so inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing with us! I look forward to your videos every Sunday...
"Observe more, shoot less" Great advice in this video, Nigel.
Ye I thought it was good as well, but funny how he said he was sitting on a composition, so failed to observe that. ;)
"It doesn´t get any better than this." So true. I wish more people would appreciate and protect the beauty of nature. If you think about it, basically every place on this planet is part of a great and unique miracle.
Love that you take the viewers thru the entire process. Composition, settings and finished photograph.
I also find that I'm much more creative when I'm hiking alone. No pressure to be on anyone else's time line.
I too 😁
Same for me 🙂
Same! I went out with my husband this weekend and took far fewer shots than I normally would
@@Elizabethtarczy i did it with my better half... but completely the opposite for me: i take far more shots, but of far worse quality,
not having so much time to chill and observe as i would alone.
The same here. I feel I concentrate better and sometimes get the time and sit and look around.
Dear Nigel first of all congratulations. Every time I looked at your RUclips channel or pick up your fantastic book and photographs or watching your calendar it gives me such a warm feeling. It motivates me to go out and enjoy nature. I am 69 years young and some times it is hard for me physically after a big operation to go out but I do not give up. The warm feeling you gave me motivates me also to go out and taking photographs.
Stay healthy, all the best to your family and........... say hello to Pebbles.
With warm greetings,
Marcel.
Congratulations Nigel on 250 000 subscribers. I think your success goes to show the value you put in to your videos. I know that I have learnt a great deal from watching your videos over the past year or so, so thank you for all the hard work that must go into producing your RUclips channel and uploading new videos every week (or more). If I win something, that would be great, but if not, I'm still a winner because I am learning so much about photography and seeing my skills growing every day.
I am a 73-year old, new photographer. I thought I was too old to learn new concepts and techniques, but I am learning a lot from Nigel's videos, particularly since Landscape Photography is my favorite genre!
These autumn videos have gotten me out of the inertia I’ve been feeling. When I woke up to a foggy misty morning, I headed outdoors with my camera and spent the loveliest time photographing the gorgeous fall colors instead of just watching them out the window. Thanks for your inspirations!
8:00 "You need to observe more and shoot less." So, so true!
I really enjoy your videos Nigel. They're easy to follow and I like the way you explain the things.
Equally enjoy the locations you choose for the videos. Keep up the good work and congrats on achieving this milestone
Shooting trees at this time of the year is so inspiring and perfect to get some time for yourself.
Your ability to make an image out of ordinary scenery is a skill I am learning from your channel.
For me Mr. Danson is a painter.
Looking for the best composition and choosing the ultimate colours, whilst standing in his own painting.
Thank you so much for sharing.
One reason I so enjoy your videos is how you often walk us through how you manage to "find" compositions in the messy natural world. Even if I did not learn a thing each week (I always do) the beauty of the UK countryside is never to be missed. The drone footage and wonderful music selections never fail to impress. No wonder you reached the 250,000 subscriber mark!
Losing my photography mojo is always rewarded by watching your videos. Great to see you doing so well Nigel.
I absolutely love the autumnal colours with the mist in this video
"observe more, shoot less" is a winner, but shooting enough is important too. i need to check details more when i'm on the scene. thx for all your instruction.
As someone who struggles to find compositions of trees I'm constantly impressed by the way you find them. Glad to hear the pros can struggle as well as us mortals! :-)
Haha.. mortals. Indeed.
Nigel, you live in a beautiful part of the world. Water, trees, mist and fog. Bracken and birch. All so lovely.
My favorite time of the year. The colours and the mist make it magical
I love how great the pictures look with the mist around. It's such a beautiful landscape and you captured it so well.
Stunning conditions and shots Nigel! Congrats of 250k! You’re an absolute legend and inspiration, you’re the reason I started a channel of my own to join the landscape photography community. Whilst I’m in Australia I hope that I still have the chance to win something from you, it would make my year! 😊 🤞🏻
Your passion and enthusiasm is very infectious and makes me feel that I am not alone in my commitment to landscape Photography
Lovely combination of soft fog and glowing color in the trees.
Nigel, you're one of a select few RUclips pro landscape photographers that I regularly watch for ideas, info & advice. The thing I like about your work (which is the same as the other photographers I watch) is your use of technology to produce fine art images of nature that appear to have been created from scratch on a canvas versus taken by a camera. This is a rare talent indeed which takes an enormous amount of dedication, time & perseverance to achieve. Your willingness to share this rare skill with the world is admirable and much appreciated. As a fan & student of your work, there is one thing though I would suggest for your videos. That being, consider using sound tracks without vocals or singing to enhance your videos. Soundtracks with vocals can be highly distracting as it causes viewers to focus on the singer, lyrics, etc., versus the content in the video. You post beautiful work to your channel that's the result of painstaking effort. Anything which creates a distraction from that is a big loss for your fans. Just something for you to consider, thanks!
Just finished Nigels video on the 5 day deal. More tutorials on light, really helpful. Love my Danson Sundays!
Me too! I just wish it was longer. But then I remembered it was Sunday 😃🤣👍👍
Love the idea of looking around without the camera. Gives a different perspective. Instead of looking for the shot. Less pressure on you. Thanks Nigel. Great tip.
Nigel, congratulations on 250,000!!! in 2018 after a 12 year absence from photography (due to illness) I was able to once again return to photography. Your channel was the first I started faithfully watching. The lessons and inspiration I have gained from watching have been invaluable. Thank you!
“Observe more, shoot less.” Epic advice.
Nigel: "The fog is getting worse..."
Me: "The fog is getting better!"
Lol - another nice video Nigel! Congrats on 250K, very well deserved.
haha I was thinking the same! I wish there was fog where I live!
I've greatly enjoyed your videos over last 16 months. In the beginning, I was enjoying your photos marveling and admiring at the beauty, warmth and serenity your images exude, without realizing what you're offering: giving me an invaluable 1:1 photography lessons, every time. Your tutorial, I find, is no ordinary tutorial but an inept and the quality a photography department in an art school might offer. About 4 months now while quarantined, I sat with pen and paper, writing notes copiously for an hour every day, watching them over and over. My composition is already improving and others are noticing it. Thank you Nigel!
I think woodland photography is one of the toughest subjects in nature. And you do it masterfully! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You inspire me to open my eyes to whats around me in my local area and remind me that this is also about being out there and enjoying the journey, not just the results.
Great video, Nigel. Please don’t ever stop telling us to be patient and to persevere.
I've learned so much from these videos about need for patience and REALLY looking for the best compositions.
I've learned so much by watching your videos. On a side note, if I want to relax and bring some peace into my day, watching one of your videos is the way to do it. The scenery, the music, the calm and detailed way you speak -- it just puts me in a really peaceful mind space. And it doesn't hurt when we get to see Pebbles. Thank you.
I love that you also like foggy and cold weather and i'm not the only one who does that :) .
As a complete beginner I’m learning a lot from your videos, keep inspiring.
I absolutely love fall photography! Nothing beats a foggy autumn day. Beautiful images.
Despite the many photographers channels I've subscribed to I find myself returning time and time again to your channel Nigel.
I love the way you capture the natural beauty without resulting in over cooking your pictures. Explaining what camera settings you've used and how to create the compositions has really helped me out when I just can't get it right.
I have been watching your videos for three years now. I find other landscape photo videos and I watch for awhile but I always come back to yours. Your approach to compositions and your passion to the craft are infectious. Just got your calendar today - love it.
I love the woodland photography. It has made me get out in the woods and look for unique trees and areas.
I am amazed at your ability to find compositions from ordinary places that are familiar to you. Thank you for your enthusiastic instruction but most important, I thank you for teaching the art of discovering the frame and ways of drawing an aliveness into the photograph!
Love the fog and mist when out shooting. And yes, I also love shooting alone.
💕
I, too, am a lone hiker who loves woodland photography. Thanks for all of your videos!
Since I watch your channel I've been trying to stick to your rules and find peace and patience. It really helps to see the beauty of the world around you!
Nigel, you always share from the heart, that's why you're reaching the heights of viewership. Love your work! Thanks for inspiring me to take more photos.
Your videos inspire me to go exploring more. I take photos of the woodland from my childhood home, and it never ceases to amaze me how many compositions are hidden throughout. Thank you for your words of wisdom. 💚
The thanks should go to you Nigel...you've helped my appreciation for photography no end and got us all through the many lockdowns with your inspiring words and images...congrats on the 250k and thanks again
I have learned the past three years on my photography journey to just take a moment, sit and look around. Specially on the days I struggle with my composition. Thanks for NBC all the great tips thus far on your channel Nigel 👍🏻
Thank you for putting the time, planning and careful consideration into your videos Nigel. The quality of your content and production make them a joy to watch.
There's something very mesmerizing in the way you introduce people to your world and true passion - the photography. In this video you've provided me with all I needed to create a mistical vision of the autumn woodland, thank you ever so much!
Hi Nigel, You are the first landscape photographer I started watching this past year after I moved to the driftless area in Southeast Minnesota. I grew up here and it's great to be back. Since 2013 my primary photography focus has been wildlife exclusively, lugging around a 150-600mm lens on a Nikon D750. I lost some physical strength and with all this beauty around me, started watching you and making a change. Thanks to you I challenged myself to create some panoramic photos and started looking for compositions. You are inspirational, and thank you for making the effort to share your process and challenges on RUclips! One million not far off, congrats! Best Regards
Those autumn colours are looking awesome. Everything is still quite green over here.
Thanks Nigel for giving us the chance to win those prizes! I've been a follower of yours ever since I got into photography while I was a student in the UK. I appreciate the depth of knowledge you share with each of your videos. In all honesty the knowledge being shared in your channel is a giveaway in itself!
Ryan Frack
I’m amazed by the way your videos peel back the layers of your images, inviting me to see them the way that you do.
And man - the things you can do with your subjects and mist are incredible!
Thanks for this
"Observe more and shoot less" my new photography mantra!
Amazing foggy conditions, I'm so jealous :) "Observe more, shoot less" this is the best advise!
Congratulations on the recognition of your work, following, and standing
I get so much inspiration and advise by watching your videos. It's almost always guaranteed that I learn something new and what I really like is your style. It's so simple and obvious
I am an amateur photographer who converted from wildlife to landscape in the past year. Your videos have been insightful and inspiring to me. Although I will probably always photograph wildlife, I especially enjoy the thoughtful, methodical process of landscape photography. Its most enjoyable. Thank you for your informative videos.
Whatever the condition or place you're it doesn't get any better than this attitude encourages us all to get out more a good image is always a bonus
A great video showing us the work that is involved in getting good sharp photos when you are out and about and the patience that is required for us do this, sometimes I feel that we don't spend enough time watching the light to get great shots.
Fantastic as always - fog and woodland autumnal colors doesn't get any better than that!!
Those shots are absolutely amazing. I am going to walk out in the woods in the morning with my camera but just look around, take a few deep breaths and realize where I am. Thank you so much for sharing.
Great Video - I think I have been watching your channel for a couple of years now-- I love your quiet presentation- no shouting - no loud noises - just good information. and of course the great photos you take
Another tutorial to inspire us all, another bow to our arsenal of knowledge, thank you Nigel for another masterclass.
Thanks, Nigel. I love that you were so set on your decision to go higher up. And then waited for a while for the conditions to change. Congratulations on 250K subscribers!
Really inspired by your insights into woodland photography. Never felt more motivated to get out in fog and rain.
I have learnt so much from your channel. The best thing is as I become a better photographer I am able to teach my young children photography. They are becoming better alright at the age of 7!
Fog photography is such an elusive pursuit here in South East Queensland - Australia and rarely happens when I have the time and opportunity to chase it. Finally, after such a long dry period, we are beginning to get some really good rain so the creeks are flowing, the waterfalls are more than a trickle and the rain forests are regenerating and vibrant. Your videos, tips and advice particularly on composition inspire me to become a better photographer. Bring on the next 250K.
A quarter-million subscribers...just, wow. That's a lot of inspiration for a lot of photographers. Congrats.
Nigel, you are my touch stone when comes to learning how to shoot landscape photography. When I'm in my woodlands, I put into practice the many tips you suggest. In fact, I list for example , how to create images SEEiING through the chaos and confusion in woodland vistas. Your experiences help me improve. Thank You
Love your persistence and thank you for lending me your eyes so I can, like you, begin to see compositions in the mist.
Just found out your channel and all I can say is the amount of things I learned by watching your channel for a few days is far more than anything I have learned before! Thank you so much!
Nigel I have learned so much watching your videos. I look forward to them every week. I am 8 months into photography and you have given me so much inspiration. I just want to Thank you and look forward to learning more.
Chris.
Congratulations on a quarter million. Your work is a wonderful break from the lock in we've tended towards
Right, that’s it, no excuses I am heading out tomorrow, rain or shine 💪. Always inspiring, thanks nigel!
I learn a lot from your videos and just love the misty foggy places you shoot. So beautiful! We have a different kind of beautiful "Down Under" 🌞 You are an inspiration Nigel.
Foggy autumn is the best condition to get some moody tree shots. Congratulations Nigel for your 250.000 subscribers and for your excellent work.
I love your passion for the countryside no matter what the weather.... inspiring!
Well done Nigel on your wonderful milestone. I now live in Tasmania and miss the Autumn colours which makes it a pleasure watching you channel when Autumn happens in the UK. I enjoy all your films no matter where in the world you are. Keep up the good work and well done again.
Love the misty conditions - the colour in the lakes last week was quite spectacular, liked the large print photo best.
Congratulations, Nigel !! Very well deserved. I thought I was the only one who feels more creative when wandering alone with my camera.
I find your videos very inspiring to me. In today rushing life these autumn videos are making me more connected to the nature and bring back the desire to go out and to enjoy the beauty of the autumn colors.
I look forward to your weekly videos, Nigel - you’ve helped me appreciate the landscape so much more.
Yes autumn is so great in Gods creations, and so nice to set it on picture to keep it in jou room for sight, thanks.
So that's where all our mist has gone! Haven't had any around here for ages, it's obviously moved to the Lake District. Beautiful images again Nigel.
Nigel, you seemed surprised that 250k people have found inspiration and knowledge from your channel, I’m surprised it’s not more. There are so many of us involved in this hobby that cruise along doing the same things when it is so simple to gain insight and knowledge from you and the likes of Brew, Popsys, Nightscape Images, Mark Denny and Hudson Henry to name a few.
I still can’t believe it’s free ! Thank you and I look forwards to the next instalments.
Thank you for the fantastic work, Nigel! Your photos, your teachings and all of the good things you share with us are a true gift. Thank you! And congrats for that amazing number of subscribers; I'm so glad to be part of it! I wish you'll keep growing. Cheers!
I can confirm that your home made flapjacks can’t be beat!
Huge congratulations on another milestone too, that’s an incredible achievement 👍👌
First time on your channel - I love landscape photography and the Lake District is where I'm planning to grow old. I was really impressed by your patience and perseverance... observe more and shoot less... I love that.
Your videos have inspired me to improve my landscape photography. I'm no longer seeing it as a limitation that I almost always shoot in the same places, instead I'm trying to take advantage of seeing the landscape in different weather and seasons.
Amazing how you manage to make such seemingly simple yet powerful compositions
Here's to helping you get to 500k subscribers Nigel. You speak so much sense and your advice has been invaluable to me to improve my landscape photography. Keep up the good work!
I am so inspired by your photography in the Lake District. Each image that you create on location alongside your LR post production has taught me a lot in understanding light and compositions. I am also highly motivated by the painterly effect you achieve in all of your pictures. I was in the Lake District last week, and I now capture images on Phone before taking out my DSLR - using it like a polaroid to refine compositions before assembling the tripod. What a great tip you have given me, and has helped me to see things so differently. Nigel, thank you for your channel, it has helped me tremendously in my landscape photography. Every video that you release is just amazing.
Hi Nigel! Congrats on 250k. It’s a huge achievement. I’ve been watching you for over a year now and you’ve help me pick up my photography game. Thank you for all your inspiring and informative videos :)
I really like your passion you show when out shooting images of the great outdoors no matter where it may be. And being able to provide great detailed advice for making images in all sorts of environments.
I live in an area with lots of woodland and your comments are really helpful.
Nigel, Thanks for the great videos over the years. I’ve been struggling with woodland photography for a few years. I’ve spent too long trying to find order in the random chaos and failed, instead of accepting the random chaos and looking for compositions within. Thanks to your videos, I’ve seen the light, so to speak and pardon the pun, and I am starting to get better compositions in the woods. Our trees have lost their fabulous colour and leaves and everything is winter-like. That should give me some interesting opportunities. The main thing missing from my woodland photography this year has been fog, but that should change. I like the advice of “observe more and shoot less”. Sometimes I go out and don’t come back with a photograph, but I no longer feel disappointed, but elated at having been out and had a chance to absorb the landscape. I have taken maybe 10 or 11 landscapes this year of which I’m really proud. There are plenty of others I have shot where I didn’t nail it, but continue to learn from the failures and cherish every opportunity to get out there.
