I think when people are saying that she is arrogant, conceited, or too self involved, I think this is an unfair criticism. She has said previously that she is naturally introverted and struggles with explaining herself in a public speaking format. Therefore her thoughts are clogged by nervousness, and thus the things she says do not represent what she actually thinks. Additionally, introverted people may feel the need to re-emphasize their ability because they are aware of the awkwardness, and thus exaggeration is the only way to make oneself appear "normal". I think she is stellar cool, I do miss her pastel hair but I would love to hang out with her. She's great in my opinion.

I think that Grimes is severely misunderstood. This happens to creative people a lot of the time because verbal communication is something that must be practiced. A lack of social interaction and locking yourself away to concentrate on your art can make it difficult to find the proper words to explain things. Solitude also allows your mind to wander off to places it can't when you're surrounded by people and from a societal point of view, it can easily come across as delusion, but maybe its enlightenment. And the reality is the more REAL friends you have and the more time you spend with people, the more you lose that creativity. It's a sad situation but sometimes artists have to make that compromise. I like Grimes and I personally think she actually doesn't realise her value. The life of an artist is sadly not always an elegant one. :(
